PESTICIDE/FERTILIZER SAFETY RULES

PTHG PRODUCTS ARE MANUFACTURED TO EXACTING SCIENTIFIC STANDARDS. ALWAYS APPLY AS DIRECTED ON THE LABEL FOR SAFE HANDLING & EFFECTIVENESS.

• Purchase only DOMESTIC class products.

• READ THE COMPLETE LABEL BEFORE USE. Pay close attention to package warning symbols – e.g., Flammable, Explosive, Poison, etc.

• Follow label directions exactly. Measure, do not guess.

• Apply only when required and at recommended application rates.

• Apply only to those plants/crops listed on the label.

• Observe the “no-spray” interval before harvest for fruits and vegetables.

• Store pesticides in a safe place, out of reach of children and pets and preferably locked. Never in proximity to food or beverages.

• Do not spray pesticides on windy days. Wear chemical resistant gloves and goggles while mixing and applying pesticides.

• Use separate sprayers for herbicides and insecticides / fungicides. Do not leave sprayers unattended while spraying.

• Keep children and pets away while applying pesticides and do not let them return to the area until it has thoroughly dried.

• NEVER transfer pesticides out of their labelled container.

• Use garden chemical measuring devices. Do not use kitchen utensils.

• Wash equipment after use.

• Never reuse empty pesticide containers. Check label for appropriate disposal instructions. Some empty containers may be recyclable.

• To dispose of unwanted pesticide product, contact your regional government Household Hazardous Waste Department.

• Wash hands and face with soap and water after applying pesticides and before eating or smoking.

• Wash fruits and vegetables before eating.

EYES

• Flush with water for 15 minutes.

• Get medical attention immediately.

• Refer to product label for further instructions.

CLOTHES

• Remove contaminated clothing and wash skin thoroughly with soap and water.

• Refer to product label for further instructions

• If in doubt about nature of material, get medical attention immediately.

• Wash clothing separately in strong detergent before reusing.

HANDS

• Wash thoroughly with soap and water.

Isolate area. Keep people away. Barricade aisles.

Ventilate area. Do not breathe vapors. Open doors and window. Set up fan. Close return grills on air conditioners.

Put on rubber or neoprene gloves and overshoes.

Ready fire fighting equipment.

If a liquid – absorb until dry. Contain liquid around edges. Sweep absorbent from edges toward the middle. See “Emergency Supplies” for recommended materials.

Carefully place absorbent or spilled dry product in disposable containers.

Scrub spilled area with concentrated detergent using broom. Absorb and pick up per steps 6 and 7. Discard soaked materials and merchandise. Scrub lightly splashed items. Scrub out corners and crevices.

Dispose of sweepings, broken product containers, broom, other contaminated waste in accordance with recommendations of local health authorities.

Wash gloves, overshoes and shovel with strong detergent solution. Remove clothing and wash separately in detergent.

Retailer must have certified employees (Class I(B) Domestic Vendor Certificate) to sell Controlled Purchase products. Employee must provide consumer with “Excepted uses” handout at time of purchase.
