The theory and practice of design, development, utilization, management, and evaluation of processes and resources for learning

Deals with the process of using technology for instruction

Includes other systems used in the process of developing human capability.

Field of study which uses technology as a means to solve educational challenges, both in the classroom and in distance learning environments

Technological processes are tools specifically for teaching and learning which facilitates access to information of all types. Instructional Technology is technology AND skills.

Page 7: M1 a3 group_e6805

Focuses on technology as equipment. Educational technology is the application of theory, technology, and psychology to achieve the goal of education and enhance the learning of individuals.

We did not find a significant difference between Instructional Technology and Educational Technology. Both use technology to aid instruction.

The simple definition for each makes the distinction of their difference:* Educational Technology is the tool.* Instructional Technology is the procedure for using that tool.

Innovation Public High School (IPHS) need to address their issues in order to prosper in the 21st century technological era.

Issues:o The lack of funds to support a professional development program for teacherso The lack of funds to acquire new equipment and softwareo The lack of technical support o The lack of technical knowledge of students, teachers, and administrators o The lack of access to technology from school and homeSolutions:o With budget increases within a year, IPHS will receive new equipment with enough

technical support to accommodate all staff in a timely manner. o Increasing technical support, IPHS need a safe, intuitive, online environment that

connects administrators, teachers, students and parents in a responsible way.  All parties can interact and ask questions, share knowledge, and rely on experiences.

o An Educational Technology Specialist will facilitate each staff development session to train all stakeholders how to use the new equipment and software.

o A program will be created that provides laptops to qualifying students to assist them in completing homework assignments and projects at home.

o IPHS must also understand the differences between educational technology and instructional technology to integrate technology into the curriculum successfully.
