INFORMATIONAL MEETINGS AND SURVEY REGARDING LIGHTMAN RELOCATION The Board of M.A. Lightman Inc. will hold informational meetings on Feb. 2. At the meetings, well discuss Lightmans current financial situa- tion and our efforts to find a new location for the club. Members are free to ask questions or make comments about those issues or any other is- sues of concern to them. To accommodate all members, two meetings will be held – one at 1:30p.m., immediately after the Friday morning game, and the other at 5:30 p.m. before the first Friday game. The Unit is also conducting a survey to get membersviews on a possi- ble relocation of Lightman. You should have received an email contain- ing the survey. You can also get paper copies of the survey at the club. Hot bridge in cold February! M.A. Lightman Bridge Club in Memphis will host the Grand National Teams Qualifying Games on Saturday, Feb. 24. The event will be a two-session Swiss team format. The first session starts at 9:30 a.m. with lunch to follow, and the second session will begin immediately after lunch. The entry fee is $15 per person. Lunch will be an NABC 2019 Fundraiser provided by Linda Pelts for $5. Menu: Pulled pork barbeque, baked beans, spaghetti, slaw, rolls and brownies. If you plan to have lunch, please make a reservation at MALBC. Stratifications: C – No one on the team may have more than 500 masterpoints and may not have achieved Life Master status. B – No one on the team may exceed 2500 masterpoints. A – No one on the team may have more than 6000 masterpoints. All masterpoints totals and rank are as of Sept. 1, 2017. We hope that many of you are making teams and will want to partici- pate in this competition. Those who qualify (no set number) will have the opportunity to compete against other District 10 winners in Jackson, MS in April. Wouldn't it be great to have teams from Unit 144 to advance to the finals at the summer NABC? Note that winners who advance to the national finals receive some financial assistance from the district. Memphis NABC Fundraiser Lunch Sue Ray and Linda Pelts will host an NABC Fundraiser Lunch on Satur-day, Feb. 24, at 12:30 p.m. The lunch features Corky’s BBQ and Spaghetti Special. A minimum $5 donation is asked for attendees. RSVP to Sue at [email protected] or sign up at club (for lunch only).

The start time for the Thursday afternoon game is now 12:30 p.m.

REACH: Regional Event At Club House Earn GOLD points at the club! MALBC Reach games are Saturday, Feb. 3, at 1:30 p.m.; Monday, Feb. 5, at 10 a.m.; Tuesday, Feb. 6, at 10 a.m.; Thursday, Feb. 8, at 12:30 p.m.; and Fri-day, Feb. 9 at 10 a.m. You must play in two or more games to qualify for overall gold/red points. You can play with different partners. A $30 one time fee and online registration required by Feb 2. The fee is in addition to regular club game fees. All members were sent an email with reg-istration link. Players will be ranked as individuals. REACH will be rated as a Regional Side Game Series (Gold/Red). Players playing two or more sessions are eligi-ble for overall awards. The REACH rankings and awards are in addition to standard club awards and standard club stratification.
