Installation
1. Remove (3) T-20 screws from the driver’s under dash and lower the panel.2. Using a panel removal tool pry the left dash vent out, disconnect the sensor wire and set it aside.
Note, the stalk on the right side of the trim piece will not come out with the trim. Be careful not to damage it when the vent is removed.a. CLS/GLK - remove 1 T-25 from the end of the dash before prying out left vent.
3. Using a 90˚ pick tool, pull down on the retaining clips that hold the right side dash trim into place at the upper edge of the glove compartment.a. CLS/GLK - in lieu of retaining clips, there is one T-25 at the passenger end of the dash under
the cover and one in the upper left corner of the glove compartment opening.4. Using a straight pick tool, release the plastic tabs inside each of the center vents while prying the
trim panel out from the dash with the pry tool.a. CLS - a metal clip needs to be released from behind the wood grain panel just above and to the
right of the ignition cylinder (see picture at bottom for location). A long straight pick will need to be used to push the clip upward to allow it to release the wood grain panel.
b. GLK - the EIS tool needs to be used to remove the EIS ring in order for the wood grain panel to be fully released
5. Disconnect three plugs from the trim piece and set it aside. (except GLK)6. Using a panel removal tool, release the upper right edge of the instrument cluster bezel.
a. GLK - push in on the instrument cluster bezel first before using a pry tool to release the top.7. Release the upper left edge of the instrument cluster bezel.8. Pull out on the bottom edge of the cluster bezel and remove.9. Pull the two upper edges of the steering column boot toward each other to release the clips and
pull it outward. (except GLK)10.Work your way around the plastic trim on the boot and release all the clips.11.Pull the boot away from the dash as far as possible. At this point you should be able to see the
rear of the EIS (ignition cylinder).12.Notice the green plug has a black center. There is a retaining clip on the edge that needs to be
released in order to separate the two pieces.13.Once you do that, install the green outer shell on to the exposed black plug at the end of the
XPRESSSTART harness.14.Install the provided blue shell on to the black plug of the OEM wiring harness and lock it in with the
retaining clip also provided.15.Route the XPRESSSTART harness up to the EIS from under the bottom edge of the dash.16.Plug the green end into the key cylinder. Plug the two mating blue plugs together.17.Open the hood and remove the HVAC inlet cover above the battery on the passenger side of the
firewall. There are three quick release clips.18.Remove the plastic cover on the positive battery terminal and set it aside.19.Remove the small 10mm nut to the left of the main connection and put the provided power wire
ring terminal over the post and reinstall the factory 10mm nut.20.Route the power wire across the engine compartment to the fuse box on the driver’s side of the
firewall.21.Open the fuse box cover and route the wire into the box by notching one of the grommets.22.Push the wire through the firewall above the fuse panel and locate it inside the driver’s footwell.23.Pull all slack into the vehicle.24.Properly dress the wire with wire loom under the hood and secure with zip ties.25.Seal up the grommet with silicone and reinstall the fuse box cover.26.Connect the power wire lead to the XPRESSSTART harness and tie up any slack. Make sure the
wire will not interfere with any moving parts under the dash.
27.Once ALL connections are secured, turn on the valet switch and verify the LEDs visible inside the XPRESSSTART are flashing.
28.Start the vehicle with the key to verify your work. If the vehicle starts and runs, you’ve made all the connections correctly.
29.Shut the vehicle off.30.Push the panic button once on the remote to test the XPRESSSTART.31.Once you are satisfied with its operation, shut down the XPRESSSTART by pushing the panic
button once.32.Locate a place to secure the XPRESSSTART module in the dash cavity.33.Secure the module in its final location.34.Shut the valet switch off.35.Drill a 3/4” hole in the under dash panel.36.Remove the wires from the valet switch, mount the valet switch in the hole drilled in step 22, and
reconnect the wires to the valet switch.37.Reinstall the (3) screws in the under dash panel38.Slide the steering column trim and boot back toward the dash and clip into place.39.Reinstall the gauge cluster bezel starting with the clips on the bottom edge.40.Snap in the top edge of the bezel.41.Plug in the (3) plugs for the center trim and snap it back into place42.Push the (2) retaining clips in to secure the right side of the trim inside the upper edge of the glove
compartment43.Connect the plugs for the left side vent and snap it back into place. Make sure the dimmer stalk
fits back through its hole in the vent trim.
