Paúl do Mar is one of the most important fishing centres of the archipelago. The ocean provides this parish with an incredibly rich variety of fish, to such an extent that it has become a reference in the world of gastronomy.
Until the late 1960s you could only access this fishing village by boat and for the next thirty years the only way to go down there was very slowly and carefully on a dangerous road. Fortunately the new road did not do any damage to the romantic aspect of the village and everywhere you go you can be sure to find peace, authenticity and tranquillity.
Going out of Paúl do Mar through one of its three tunnels, you leave behind a paradise that you will never forget.

Locating dataData can be retrieved by browsing the catalogs of different data archives, or perform searches across all the archives inn the system.
Browsing metadataDatasets in MADIERA will be documented according to the DDI standard. The metadata will be integrated with the data.
On-line statistical analysisWhen a dataset or a variable is located on a MADIERA server, the user can instantly run simple statistical analyses like cross/tabulation, descriptive statistics and regression.
VisualisationSeveral options for displaying statistics are available. This includes bar-charts, time series charts, and geographic maps
Multilingual supportBased on thesaurus technology, the user may search in any language, and be able to locate data stored in another language.
Comparative dataA built in logic for identifying comparative data – including variables or datasets stored on other servers throughout Europe.
A Geo-referencing systemDatasets will be stored with geographic coordinates for the geographic coverage of the dataset. A map interface will enable users to locate datasets.
Standardised identificationWork will be initiated to establish a standard for naming of social science data resources.
Downloading dataData can be downloaded in any of a number of standard file formats
