At Agritechnica 2013, Weidemann presented for the first time the initial prototype of the new emission-free electrically driven 1160 eHoftrac®. At EuroTier 2014, a fully developed machine was then presented, which simultaneously marked the sales launch. As a part of a large-scale presentation tour, Weidemann has been presenting the new innovative farm loader with an electric drive concept to the general public in close co-operation with the respective distributors at trade fairs and events since the end of November 2014. You can find out more about this on pages 16/17.

On 27 March 2015, it was then finally time and the first series-production machine of the eHoftrac® was manufactured in the Weidemann production plant in Korbach. In addition, the Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac® was awarded in March of this year with the innovation award of EQUITANA 2015 and the innovation award from the Bulgarian trade fair agra 2015. In June, the ma-chine also received the innovation award at demopark +demogolf 2015. You can find out more on pages 14/15.

The new 1160 eHoftrac®: innovation for your business!

Our eHoftrac® is accelerating ...

Dear ladies and gentlemen,

The time has finally come! The eHoftrac® is in series pro-duction and the first machines were delivered to our cus-tomers from the production plant in Korbach. We see it as a real milestone in the development of Weidemann. We are therefore already looking forward to the high de-mand and willingness of our customers to use the loader with the first electric drive in their businesses.

The machine has already been recognised multiple times from the independent sector: To our great joy, the eHoftrac® was recently awarded with innovation awards at four trade fairs nationally and internationally. The new technology of course also posed a major challenge for development and production. You can read more on the topic of the eHoftrac® on page 14.

But many other exciting topics await you in this magazine issue: The Weidemann executive board has been ex-panded by an additional person in Klaus Pohl. We now manage the company as a group of three. Learn more about the background and future direction on page 10.

The production innovations in the field of powerful wheel and tele wheel loaders are shown to you on page 18. With the conversion to the new engine technology, we have produced new models with which you can easily manage a high level of material handling in your busi-nesses.

The great deal of news from different countries shows us how active Weidemann distribution partners are in their areas and what exciting activities are realised on behalf of the Weidemann brand. Also have the application range of “Weidemanns” shown to you from various references in this magazine.

Enjoy reading this issue!

One machine runs and runs. The University of Warmia and Mazury in Poland operates an educational farm with 360 dairy cows and 40 horses. A few years ago, the Weidemann telehan-dler T5625 CX80 came to the farm in order to carry out everyday work there. The machine has now completed more than 17,500 hours of operation and did all of this with the original engine — a tremendous achievement that was pos-sible due to the high quality and good handling of the machine.

In addition to the existing machine, a new T5522 has been purchased. Both machines are also used in the technology centre to be able to practically show the learning content to the students.

In the summer of 2014, three pink Weidemann 3070 CX80 machines drew a great deal of attention at the Korbach production plant. Everyone was asking who could have ordered three pink Weidemann machines. Also the other positions — from customs to freight for-warders — that our Weidemann machines had to pass through until delivery asked this question. Until the machines finally arrived at Wei-demann Centre in Niederweningen, Switzerland — then people knew right away: The three pink wheel loaders are meant for the Bächler + Güttinger horticultural farm. The experienced gardening and sports field specialist knows how to draw attention to themselves: the strik-

ing pink company colour is not only reflected in the company logo here, but rather all of the machinery, including all vehicles and equipment, is painted in this colour. Including the three new Weidemann 3070.

Bächler + Güttinger stand for the highest aesthetic garden culture. Through the skilful use of design resources and the latest technology, a garden is structured and made experiential. The expertise from a roughly 100-year-old company tradi-tion is complemented with current knowledge, new technologies and an excellent machinery fleet.

Weidemann machines are red … right?

The Weidemann 1770 CX50 in use during the Green Days in Thüringen.Weidemann is not only present at many trade fairs as an exhibitor, but is also indispensable as a helper for the organisation and the smooth running of the event. For example, the Weidemann dealer HFT lif ting and handling equipment from Niederdorla presented a Weidemann 1770 CX50 for the organi-sation, which had over 600 large animals as well as sheep and poultry at the Green Days of Thüringen.

The 1770 CX50 was driven by Norbert Lumme. “I will not let go of the Weidemann”, says Lumme, who has been released from work by his employer TLL (Thur-ingian State Institute for Agriculture) already for the eighth time since 2000 for the Green Days. “The 1770 goes everywhere easily”, says Lumme, “other loaders don't do that”. Lumme is also the only one to muck out the animal tents with the machine and also drive through the narrow cor-ridors in the halls.

New videos on the YouTube channel.Weidemann presented a number of new machines and attachments at EuroTier 2014. Of course the new products are best experienced in real application. Application videos are particularly good for getting a first impression of the new machines and tools. On the Weidemann YouTube channel, you will f ind a selection of various videos from dif ferent industries and application areas for each new machine. For example, there are three new videos about the innovative 1160 eHoftrac®.

Innovation award for the 1160 eHoftrac® in Latvia.

The Weidemann 1160 eHoftrac® was awarded the innovation award of the Latvian trade fair Rāmava in Riga, Latvia in April 2015. Juris Daukste, managing director of Baumaschinen Lettland SIA, accepted the innovation award on behalf of Weidemann GmbH.

On February 18 of this year, Weidemann GmbH was awarded by the Korbach employment agency with the “Certificate for Promoting Young Talent”. “Training has a high priority for us”, says Angela Stöcker, head of personnel, “we always make arrangements as necessary to be able to take on all trainees”. The trainees at Weidemann enjoy a very versatile training, during which they pass through various departments. In the process, they get a direct insight into the

different areas with job-specific learning content.

Among other things, it is possible for trainees to attend trade fairs where Weidemann is appearing as an exhibitor or to help with the planning and im-plementation of various family days or trainee events. In addition, it is possible to get to know new impressions and ways of life and work during a foreign practical training placement.

Expansion of the executive board at Weidemann. The management of Weidemann GmbH was expanded with another managing director, Mr Klaus Pohl, effective 1 February 2015. The management now consists of three managing directors. 47-year-old Klaus Pohl arrived at Weidemann on 1 October 2013 and to date served as the divisional head for research and design and development (R & D). He previously worked in senior positions at a renowned company in the construction industry and as a system developer at a vehicle supplier.

Both existing managing directors Bernd Apfelbeck and Hans-Heinrich Schmidt also remain managing directors at Weidemann. The task areas in the field of technology were redistributed to prepare a planned generational change between Hans-Heinrich Schmidt and Klaus Pohl.

With his appointment as Weidemann managing director, Klaus Pohl takes over, among other things, the management of research and design and development (R & D), project management, logistics, production and quality management.

Hans-Heinrich Schmidt will now be responsible for the areas of advance development and innovation, procurement and facility management. In addition, Mr. Schmidt will oversee various projects that should further strengthen the sustainability and competitiveness of Weidemann.

The areas of responsibility of commercial managing director Bernd Apfelbeck remain unchanged with the areas of sales organisation, marketing, after sales, f inances, controlling, human resources and IT.

This step should ensure that, on the one hand, the planned generation change can be completed in the company and, at the same time, the valuable knowl-edge and many years of experience of Hans-Heinrich Schmidt are available for the continued positive de-sign and development of Weidemann GmbH.

The expanded Weidemann management: Bernd Apfelbeck, Klaus Pohl and Hans-Heinrich Schmidt (from lef t).

Hans-Bernd Wiesener on his work at Weidemann: “The requirements of a modern sales organisation in an international environment are increasing and it is a very nice job to create the framework conditions for an ef fective customer care”.

A question

for Klaus

Pohl:What issues are important to you for Weidemann in the near future?

“The topic of electrif ication, which we have success-fully begun with the eHoftrac®, will keep us very busy with regard to other machines. Another focus is on the analysis and optimisation of product costs. This requires a good and efficient collaboration of the areas of product management, procurement, construction and production”.

Change in the international sales management.

In mid-2014, 40-year-old Hans-Bernd Wiesener took over manage-ment of international sales at Weidemann. With his long tenure of international sales activity, the graduate agricultural engineer brings a great deal of knowledge in the field of agriculture and intercultural expertise. As a part of the growing sales organisation and the steady internationalisation, the goal is thus pursued of strengthening this area and continuously expanding it. Internationally, agriculture has changed dramatically in recent years: The change in structure has also led to an extreme dif ferentiation and high level of specialisation here.

Since October 2014, 48-year-old Jörg Lenz has been managing the Weidemann production in North Hessian Korbach. He manages the staf f of the entire production area and is therefore highly responsible for the process reliability and on-time delivery at Weidemann.

A conceptual further development of production in the sense of lean manufacturing is planned. Jörg Lenz offers extensive experience here, which he was able to gain at a large vehicle manufacturer as the head of production systems as well as at a management consulting firm. “The production processes need to be continuously analysed and improved. With lean management, which has been successfully applied in the automotive industry for years, exact process definitions and interface descriptions, clear responsibilities, early responses to errors and simple organisational methods are achieved. This results in high-quality products that are clearly structured and very ef fective”, says Jörg Lenz as he describes his area of responsibility.

New head of production in Korbach.

Logistics and material management. Logistics and material management is an area that is always gaining in importance as part of a complex value creation chain with increased materials and goods flows in which per se a great deal of capital is tied up, even at Weidemann. That is why the area of logistics and material management was reorganised in early 2015 in order to advance these matters in a targeted manner and to be able to optimise them in depth. 50-year-old Axel Mittelmann is directing the restructured area and has many years of expertise, which he has gained at renowned companies in Germany and internationally.

Axel Mittelmann assumes the restructured area of logistics and material management.

A successful star t to series production for Weidemann in assembly l ine 2 (from lef t to r ight): Kevin Peters, Andreas Schäfer, Jörg Lenz, Klaus Pohl, Elzbieta Lipinska, Jan Prechel, Hans-Heinrich Schmidt and Bernd Apfelbeck.

The three Weidemann managing directors Bernd Apfelbeck, Klaus Pohl and Hans-Heinrich Schmidt dignif ied the inclusion of the new technology in the production process with a small ceremony. “We are glad to start producing the machine in series pro-duction starting today so we can finally meet the high demand of our customers for the eHoftrac®,” said Bernd Apfelbeck, who has received many posi-tive reactions from sales partners and end custom-ers in the last few months. The entire Weidemann management has high expectations for the topic of electrification.

The 1160 eHoftrac® is accelerating. The time had finally come on 27 March 2015. The first 1160 eHoftrac® was produced in series production at the production plant in Korbach. Weidemann is also delighted with the multiple international awards!

The new technology of course also posed a major challenge for development and production. The pro-ject manager of the eHoftrac® Jan Prechel and the production manager Jörg Lenz, together with their teams, thus did a great deal of intensive work.

The 1160 eHoftrac® has already been recognised from the independent side: in 2015, the machine was able to win several awards at prestigious trade fairs. At the Bulgarian trade fair agra 2015 in Plovdiv, the international horse trade fair Equitana in Essen, Germany and the demopark + demogolf trade fair in Eisenach, Germany, the 1160 eHoftrac® was award-ed with the innovation award. Already in November 2014, the machine also won the innovation award from the Italian trade fair Eima.

The time had come in November 2014: The eHoftrac® was presented at Euro-Tier as ready for sales and could be or-dered directly. Following this, our demo tour through Germany began. Since then, the new exhibition innovation from Weidemann has been on the go almost constantly. Many dealers presented the eHoftrac® to their customers at special events, as part of their in-house trade fairs, exhibitions and at open house days. Some even built a separate world around the new electric loader or launched special loader or municipal days.

The eHoftrac® could also be seen at many trade fairs in the last month, where it has received many innovation awards to date (see page 14/15).

Sceptics are becoming fans.Visitors were frequently rather sceptical about whether the eHoftrac® can really follow in the footsteps of its diesel-pow-ered brother. But the electric loader quickly dispelled exactly these doubts. Anyone who has driven it themselves knows how dynamic it drives and how easily it can lif t a good 1.3 tonnes in its bucket. Dietmar Grosse Westerloh, Weidemann regional manager for Cen-tral Germany, knows: “Show, show, show. Demonstration: that is the alpha and omega with this machine”. This makes true fans out of sceptics!

In 2015, the 1160 eHoftrac® tour will continue in Austria, Switzerland, Denmark, Norway, Sweden, the Netherlands, France, England, Belgium and Poland.

“The eHoftrac® tour — have you tried it yet?”

Electromobility has already successfully gained traction in many areas. For example, there are thus bicycles, cars, lawn mowers or forklifts with electric drives. It therefore makes sense to transfer the topic of electromobility to wheel loaders as well. With the development of the new eHoftrac®, Weidemann has dealt with the possibilities of new technologies and actively designed the technical progress. The eHoftrac® , the innovation for your business!

New Weidemann machines.

At EuroTier 2014, Weidemann presented five other new machines in addition to the 1160 eHoftrac®. The most powerful Hoftrac® that is now in the prod-uct range is the new 1880, which can be outfitted with an overhead guard or cabin and two dif ferent engine versions. The optional engine version already meets the emission standard level IIIB. Also new in the product range are the successors to the previ-ous 2070 CX and 3070 CX series. The new types of the 2080 or 3080 series can each be delivered with an oscillating suspension unit or telescopic arm. All models of the 2080 and 3080 series have en-gines that meet the emission standard level IIIB.

The new Weidemann machines score with a high level of functionality, great working comfort and excellent safety standards. Furthermore, they convince with a new design and many innovative functions that ef ficiently support the driver.

PANORAMA PANORAMA

50 years of a company's existence is something very special — this is what Heeder Landmaschinen GmbH from Heede in northern Germany also thought. So managing director Stephan Engel, to-gether with his 18-member team, took great care to design this an-niversary in the year 2014. Since an open house day in the fall has a long tradition at Heeder, it was quickly decided to also use this familiar date for the anniversary. On Saturday, 04 October 2014, the Engel family invited their customers to a large anniversary party on the company's premises.

Every tradition started once as a novelty. The beginning of the business was visually commemorated with a classic car show with Eicher tractors during the anniversary day on 04 October 2014. “With these tractors, we drastically accelerated the mechanisation of our farmers in the 1960s and 1970s and were able to facilitate a great deal of work on farms”, says company founder Günther Engel. The classic car fans thanked him and were very inter-ested in the exhibition of the Eicher tractors. Günther Engel of course also has a close relationship with these “pioneers of agricultural tech-nology” and enjoyed the “shop talk” about the historical machines on the anniversary day. On the anniversary day, a varied programme was offered for young and old: In the fourth held demo show of the brands Weidemann and Valtra, the numerous visitors were able to see the machines in action. Heeder presented the current product range with a large machine exhibition on the grounds. The anniversary was also a day for the whole family, which is why the food and entertainment did not fall short for young and old.

The challenge of change.A great deal has changed in agricultural technology in the course of the last f ive decades: an industry that is marked by great innovative capacity and constant change. Who could better assess this development than Günther and Stephan Engel, who with their company Heeder Agricultural Machines have always been on the lookout for optimal solutions for the work tasks of their customers on account of their high level of service ori-entation. Now aged 79, Günther Engel was there from the beginning. He began his career at “Heeder Agricul-tural Machines” in 1964 as a foreman, which he later managed as the managing director. At the time, the company Heeder was the sole agency for the well-known tractor brand Eicher and temporarily operated additional branches in Schleswig, Eutin and Neumünster. “The company therefore also has a high degree of fa-miliarity in the country and is nevertheless not an agricul-tural machine specialist company in the traditional sense”, says Stephan Engel, who took over the business in 2003 and to this day manages the company according to the following company philosophy: “Experienced em-ployees who advise our customers well and offer a first-class service. Satisfied customers who feel well-advised and who like to return with their tasks and problems”.

These days, for an agricultural machinery business, a partnership with the customer is best realised with ex-pert and, at Heeder, also very long-standing employees and a good workshop service. That is why great value is placed on training in a family-owned business to be able to guarantee the high quality in the future as well. In the agricultural sector, the company focuses on the sales and service of tractors from Valtra, wheel and telehan-dlers from Weidemann, as well as agricultural technology for dif ferent purposes from Pöttinger and Stoll, just to name the main brands. The product range is comple-mented by an extensive range of used machines.

The shepherd craft in Lausitz is strongly influenced by the idealism of a natural profession and is only exercised by a few people with a great deal of commit-ment and dedication. Martin Just is an avid sheep farmer. He gets help for the sheep from Weidemann.

About five years ago, Just bought a used Weidemann 1050 D/M. Since he has only had good experienc-es with the machine, he decided to re-place this with a new Weidemann 1160. It was reason enough for us to pay a visit to the dedicated shepherd.

Shortly before the destination, it be-came clear what characterises this landscape. 30 km from the border to Poland and the Czech Republic, the

area is dominated by extensive agricul-tural f ields and meadows. Only no sheep were yet to be seen. The town signs were bilingual. This gives an indi-cation of the Sorb people living here.

Arrived in Saxon Cunnewitz, Martin Just was already waiting with breakfast in the sheep pen. And here we could finally see the first sheep. “Sheep farming is dying out in Lausitz”, says Just, “there are only a few people who can identify with this profession”. Just too only con-ducts his passion as a side job. There is also 17-year-old Lukas from the neigh-bourhood, who spends every free minute he has with the shepherd in order to drive his loader enthusiastically. Lukas is a great help for Martin Just. “Sometimes you just need someone

to work with you”, says the shepherd.

The Weidemann machine is mainly used for harvesting hay, transport work, load-ing manure and in the forest. “And every day we notice new tasks for which we can use the loader”.

The decision to replace the old 1050 with a new Hoftrac 1160® had several reasons for Martin Just: The safety of Lukas is particularly important for him. “Because Lukas really likes to drive the loader. Some days I don't even get to drive at all, because Lukas will simply not give it up”. The machine is just the right size for Lukas and gives him a great balance to the busy everyday school life.

Where you can count sheep and quality still counts.“I only buy quality products for my company”.

17-year-old Lukas misses the old Weidemann 1050 D/M, but certainly not for long!

In addition, the quality of the Weidemann machine compared to the competition was a decisive argument for the full-time development engineer Martin Just: “I only buy quality products for my company, from trailers to farm loaders. I think that a Weidemann is a good foundation for the success of a com-mercial sheep farm”. Weidemann has continued to develop from year to year and this is noticed in many areas: From the ease of maintenance (“We stil l l ike to get our hands dir ty here”) to the driv-ing and usage properties to the look, Weidemann simply has the edge.

Being street legal was also an important prerequisite for the part-time shepherd. “We simply get around faster on the road than in the meadows and fields, on which we previously always had to drive”. Only Lukas of course then has to ride by bicycle.Since the shepherd also wants to work with the new Weidemann in existing buildings, he also chose the fold-down overhead guard eps.

With so many great expectations for the new Weidemann 1160, the eyes of all those involved then lit up during the handover from salesman Dieter Wüsche from Femtech Luttowitz GmbH & Co. KG. The summary of the first drive is correspondingly positive: “This is a re-ally good machine and a great support for us that is very intuitive to operate”! Lukas also got the hang of it quickly.

And so with the help of shepherd Martin Just and his Weidemann 1160, the shepherd craft will hopefully remain an important part of the cultural landscape of Lausitz for a long time to come.

Shepherd Martin Just loves sheep shearing and his Weidemann.

A wheel load-er that pulls!

Machine handover at the occupa-tional training centre in Korbach.Good support for training in the coming years.

At the building yard of the city of Gehren in Thüringen, the Weidemann wheel loader 3070 CX 80 is used year-round as a tractor.

With his four-man team, the building yard manager Henry Kühn not only takes care of the city of Gehren, but also the adjacent districts of Jesuborn and Möhrenbach. “For our work, we need a universally applicable machine that at the same time can be used as a tractor”, explains Henry Kühn.

With the official tender for a new machine in 2013, the wheel loader 3070 CX80 from Weidemann was able to score points with its versatility. Together with the trail-er specifically developed for the machine, the wheel loader supports the building yard employees in their daily work. It has a height-adjustable trailer coupling and special trailer ramps. These allow, for example, the simple transport of a lawn tractor or green waste. The Weidemann easily pulls the trailer, which can be

loaded with up to 3.5 tonnes. The maintenance of local parks, such as the castle grounds, is easy with the wheel loader as a tractor.

The wheel loader also takes care of some manual work steps at the point of acceptance for branches, roots and green waste. “Instead of first chopping up the branches, now we simply lift them up with the grab bucket”, says Joachim Müller, one of the employ-ees of the city of Gehren.

Among the many application areas of the machine are road construction, cemetery maintenance and winter service. “The snow plough is just too big in some places, which is where our wheel loader comes into play”, explains Henry Kühn. “From loading salt to shovelling sidewalks, it has everything”. In the winter, the machine with a trailer is used to relieve waste dis-posal and also for collecting waste from municipal waste. Henry Kühn especially likes driving the Weide-mann if he gets to decorate the 46 poles in Gehren in the winter for the Christmas season.

“You need a wheel loader”, says the building yard manager, “we cannot live without it. To top it off, we would love a telescopic arm on the next model”.

This should be feasible!

On 4 May 2015, Weidemann managing director Hans-Heinrich Schmidt deliv-ered a modern tele wheel loader to the Korbach occupational training centre of the district association of craftsmen for teaching purposes. Weidemann is loan-ing the occupational training centre a machine for the training field of agricul-tural machinery mechatronic engineers. The occupational training centre head Friedrich Schüttler and the training fore-man of the specialised area of vehicle technology, Bernd Pieper, are visibly ex-cited about the new addition. “The qual-ity of the training and the industry-wide measures that we offer here in the oc-cupational training centre depend to a large degree on good demonstration ma-terial”, says Friedrich Schüttler. “With the 2080T from Weidemann, we have re-ceived a brand new machine that we can use to train the entire range, such as

electronic control engineering in the field of hydraulics and pneumatics, climate control technology and the latest engine technologies”. Over 20 trainees as agri-cultural and construction machine me-chatronics engineers are currently being supervised by the occupational training centre, whereby the industry-wide courses meaningfully complement the training in businesses. The “related” ar-eas of vehicles currently even include as many as 100 trainees. In this profession, a master craftsman training is even pos-sible at the occupational training centre.

The project was supported and promot-ed by Torben Schüttler, who has been working at Weidemann in the field of electronics development since 01 De-cember 2014 as a graduate engineer in automotive electronics and who came to the company by way of an internship.

PANORAMA

Before his studies, he did an apprentice-ship as an automotive mechatronics en-gineer at a local business. As a part of his training, he completed the industry-wide courses at the occupational training centre and knows from personal experi-ence how important a well-equipped workshop is. Torben Schüttler and Bernd Pieper will now together make the 2080T from Weidemann “fit” for training, i.e. the machine will be rebuilt in terms of meas-uring and testing points. It can then be analysed and parametrised with “wedi-as”, the Weidemann Diagnostic and Analysis System. The requirements of the new exhaust standard for self-pro-pelled machinery of level IIIB can also be perfectly illustrated with this machine. “The training of qualified professionals here in the region plays a major role for the further development of Weidemann”, says Hans-Heinrich Schmidt, “we are pleased when we can provide support at the right place here”.

Looking forward to converting the machine for use in training:Bernd Pieper and Torben Schüttler.

A family business in its 4th generation with 125 years of tradition that is Heinz Pieper Landtechnik [agricultural engi-neering] in the truest sense. Having emerged from a traditional village smithy, the topic of agricultural engineering has been emphasised with the products from Fahr and later also Deutz since the 1950s. “We are not only selling our cus-

service at the three locations of Rees-Millingen (headquarters), Hünxe-Dreve-nack (since 1997) and Wachtendonk (since 2009). “Milking equipment is also an important pillar of our business”, says Georg Pieper about his area of responsi-bility. He is also the “finance minister” of the business.

tomers a machine, we are also ensuring optimal care”, says Heinz-Josef Pieper about the philosophy of the family busi-ness, who as the owner takes care of the transactions and sales. Together with his brother Georg and the 50-person team, the customers in the Lower Rhine area are all covered in terms of sales, work-shop presence, spare parts supply and

The next generation is already at the ready with Janine and Henrik Pieper. So the decision was obvious to invest in a new building with advanced features at the Rees-Millingen location. For this purpose, an old workshop area was de-molished to be able to create a central and spacious entrance area with an at-tractive customer reception, an easily accessible spare parts counter and vari-ous sales zones with the new centrally located part of the building. “The con-struction work took place during ongo-ing business. This was a real challenge for everyone and a great achievement by our team”, says Heinz-Josef Pieper excitedly about the management of the transition period, “but now it is done and we can start”.

The time had come on 18 April 2015 after only 15 months of construction:

the building could be dedicated and the reopening celebrated. During an open-house day on the following Sunday, the many customers of the Pieper family were able to admire the result. There was also a particular speciality in the new building: with a delivery area for motorised machines, customers and employees at Pieper will be protected from wind and weather. Carsten Telahr, the Weidemann specialist at Pieper, is excited: “It is great that we can now hand over to our customers their new purchases in this pleasant atmosphere. People can take their time to have the many functions of a machine explained to them in detail and have all of their questions answered”.

As a part of the reorganisation of the business, the Pieper family was able to acquire and also rebuild the neighbour-

ing property together with its buildings. Thiseven resulted in a separate show-room for Weidemann loaders with a special sales area. “With this area of expertise, we will meet the high demand for Weidemann products and are also very professionally prepared in this sector”, sums up Heinz-Josef Pieper, who is now ideally prepared for further success with Weidemann.

The T5522 as a stable all-rounder for local authorities.

Weidemann on the go in Nizhny Novgorod.

Minimal consumption, maximum efficiency.

The urban administration of Pockau-Lengefeld has chosen the telehandler T5522 with 5.50 metres of lif ting height and a payload of 2.2 tonnes for the di-verse and very varied work in the local authority. The machine is used there for heavy earth and ma-terials handling as well as the loading work of bulk materials at a high altitude. It covers a wide range of work: loading road salt in the winter, tree trim-ming work, various work in parks, on playgrounds and in green areas. In addition, the T5522 is used in festival and event management to set up tents and kiosks as well as to install the lighting.

“We are very satisfied both with the quality of the products as well as with the expertise of the sales partner, Landtechnik Lorenz Pockau, and assume that this will remain this way in the long term as well”, says Frank Oettel enthusiastically from the urban administration of Pockau-Lengefeld about his decision for Weidemann.

Part of the demo tour was the introduc-tion and presentation of the Weidemann models 1160, T5522 and 3070T. The tour was conducted by Dimitri Weibert, who is responsible for sales in Russia for Weidemann, and Weidemann prod-uct specialist Christian Berling. They visited selected farms and were able to bring Weidemann products closer to many customers.

Dimitri Weibert explains: “Russia is one of the largest land area countries in the world. The agricultural structure here cannot be compared to that in Germa-ny. In Russia, there are fewer farms and therefore also fewer potential custom-ers. The farms and businesses therefore have huge dimensions and usually re-

Dino Mellano, one of the largest cattle farmers and breeders in the Piedmont, has his farm in the Italian Rivarolo Canavese. His operation has 1,400 cattle, of which 600 are dairy cows. In addition, the green fodder, maize, rice as well as grains, such as barley or spelt, are grown on 300 hectares. In his bio-dynamic aligned business, he places great value on the well-balanced combination of ecology and business costs.

That is why Dino Mellano decided some time ago to replace his old 70 horsepower tractor for the work on the farm with a telehandler. The choice fell on the 40 hp T4512 from Weidemann. Crucial for him was not the hp-output of the machine, but rather the high level of ef f iciency for his pending tasks. This

quire multiple machines. The dealer structure is also not as widely pro-nounced as in Germany. Demo tours in cooperation with our competent dealer are therefore essential to show the cus-tomer at which points a Weidemann can make their work considerably easier”.

Christian Berling continues: “Customers are often surprised about which work processes are possible with a Weide-mann in combination with the right at-tachment. For example, we presented a cubical bedder or a feed blade on our tour. It is important that the customers can experience it live and try it out di-rectly”. Farm owner Jury Sergeevich Serednev was thus immediately con-vinced by the Weidemann products and

was well assured for the business with 4.50 metres of lif ting height and 1.2 tonnes of payload. In addi-tion, he also pays attention to moderate diesel con-sumption with his machines. Ultimately, a powerful horsepower engine also means higher fuel consump-tion and usually causes higher maintenance costs.

When the T4512 arrived to the farm, the 19 employ-ees were very sceptical as to whether this “dwarf” would withstand the high demands. But this preju-dice was quickly dispelled, because with its com-pact design, the small turning radius and the agile operation, the T4512 quickly became the favourite of everyone in the business. Even for maintenance work that takes place in the barn, the “little German” has been able to prove that it is extremely reliable and sturdy.

Today, after more than 3,000 hours of operation, the machine does not have the slightest damage and is praised by Dino Mellano and his team as absolutely low-maintenance. “So it was no coincidence that in mid-2014 we were looking for a telehandler from Weidemann when we decided to also replace our 200 hp tractor for indoor livestock work”, says Dino Mellano about his choice of the T5522, which with

From 10–12 March 2015, Weidemann was on the go in Nizhny Novgorod and the surrounding area as a part of a demo tour. The city is about 400 km to the east of Moscow, has about 1.25 million inhabitants and is therefore the fifth largest city in Russia.

60 hp and a lif ting height of 5.50 metres and a pay-load of 2.2 tonnes, is like the “big brother” to the existing machine.

Thanks to this decision, Dino Mellano now has a small telehandler f leet that of fer a balanced perfor-mance for his varied work tasks and also fit very well into the environmentally friendly business phi-losophy: ultimately a diesel savings of 10 % could be realised in 2014. “The investment that initially seemed high to me has absolutely paid off in the quality of the machines and the lower operating and maintenance costs. Work is therefore fun for every-one”, says Dino Mellano satisfied.

A low entry and a high manoeuvrability with very good per-formance: these are aspects that can score points in daily use compared to a tractor.

The T5522: of f-road, stable and powerful.

That counts.

Lots of manual labour and a Weidemann.

The company Eskildsen GmbH is a breeding and fat-tening business for geese. In addition to breeding dif-ferent pure and hybrid lines, offspring are fattened at various locations and down and feather products are offered.

The main breeding operation is located at the König-swartha location in Lausitz. A total of six pure breed-ing lines are tracked here, including the German lay-ing goose. In addition, hybrid breeds are bred for fattening. “The daily feeding of up to 8,000 breeding geese requires a great deal of manual labour”, ex-plains production manager Danilo Scholz. A Weide-mann was purchased about two and a half years ago to provide a great deal of support. “In addition to the mucking out and spreading of hay in the stalls as well as the daily feeding, the Weidemann must also help with construction work”, says Danilo Scholz, “we need a very flexible machine for this purpose”. The geese breeder therefore chose a wheel loader with a low overall height, which can easily drive into the low stables. In addition, the telescopic arm minimises the manual labour when mucking out and easily over-comes high sideboards.

The family business for geese breeding in Königswartha manages with a lot of dedication and manual labour. A 2070 CX50 LPT from Weidemann provides optimal support for the specialised work processes.

The employees build canopies over the open areas to protect the animals and the groundwater. Of course, the construction work is carried out on their own. The 2070 with a telescopic arm is also used here. For the work that the wheel loader cannot manage due to the lif ting height, the production manager sometimes hires a T6025 telehandler.

The main breeding takes place in four large pens. These are in turn divided into group compartments. The geese and gander living here enjoy a generous open space of over 1 m² per animal as well as a part-ly covered outlet. The stalls are regularly spread with hay and mucked out with the Weidemann. The 2070 LPT is also used when feeding with a special Eskild-sen feed mixture.

In contrast to this, the smaller compartments in the line breeding must be mucked out daily by hand. “The stalls designed for four geese and a gander are even too narrow for a Weidemann”, explains Danilo Scholz, “so we put the machine into gear and load the bucket by hand”.

After the chicks have hatched in the farm's own hatchery, they go to the upbringing stall for four weeks. They can then spend the summer outdoors. Then in August they can socialise with the other geese. After this rest phase, a new laying phase begins again in February.Throughout their entire lives, the breeding geese of Eskildsen GmbH are accompanied by a Weidemann; it is therefore no surprise that they are not afraid of the big red machine at all!

Feeding, spreading hay, mucking out: this is no problem for the 2070 CX50 LPT in the low pen.
