Female; 16

Page 5: Magazine tally questionnaire analysis

• I asked 16 females and 4 males, this suggests my magazine will be more feminine than male, however the artists mentioned or opinions may still be similar to both genders.

• The most popular artists chose was the Arctic Monkeys, Hozier and James Bay. This suggests I could use their names for my cover lines on my contents page or possible front cover, as they are the most popular within my questionnaire and probably the target audience.

• Most respondents chose the price of £2.99-£3.99, this shows that I would not make my magazine too pricey as it is directed to a younger audience, also I would definitely not go any higher, as out of the 20 people I asked only two said they would pay more than £3.99.

• The most popular word people thought of when thinking of the Indie-rock genre was ‘guitar’, with 7 respondents writing it, this could give me an idea of a magazine title possibly. Also, the word ‘cool’ was quite popular being wrote 5 times and the word ‘smooth’ 3 times, again giving me titular ideas.

• 5 of my respondents had been to no concerts or gigs, suggesting my magazine could do live reviews to persuade people to go, then buy the magazine as they now have an interest. The most popular choice was V Festival, where 4 people had went, suggesting my audience would enjoy a range of artists included in my magazine. Followed behind was 3 people who went to see The 1975 and another 3 who saw Justin Bieber, this shows my magazine buyers would enjoy more popular artists than unknown.

• The most popular dislike of magazines was too much text, said by 5 respondents, which is a recurring theme of the questionnaire, therefore more pictures will have to be used to appeal to a wider audience.

Page 29: Magazine tally questionnaire analysis

Physical; 13

Phone/tablet; 7

Page 30: Magazine tally questionnaire analysis

• 13 respondents preferred to read the magazine in a physical copy, which is more than the other 7 who preferred to read one on a phone/tablet, which isn’t a huge difference but shows that physical copies are still more popular than a computer image.

Page 31: Magazine tally questionnaire analysis

Do you enter the competitions in the magazines?

Yes; 6

No; 14

Page 32: Magazine tally questionnaire analysis

• 14 respondents said they didn’t enter the competitions in magazines, but 6 did, therefore I could put competitions in my magazine but it would not make a huge difference to the overall sales.
