From the results shown on the graph from my questionnaire, 88.24% of my target audience is male, compared to the 11.76% which are female. This means that my magazine will be targeted at a male audience rather than a female audience and more stereotypically manly conventions will have to be used.

The results show that 76.47%, which is the majority of my target audience, are 17-18 year olds with a few younger readers. These are the kinds of people I am aiming at and that I am expecting to buy my music magazine along with people who are also between the age of 18-20, however, I could not get hold of enough of these people in order to count them in my results, only 14-18 year olds, this was a limitation during the creation of the questionnaire.

These results show that the majority (65%) of the target audience listens to hip-hop music. This is the chosen genre for my music magazine and the contents of the magazine will be committed to appealing to people who listen to this type of music. The results were quite spread out as well so my magazine could have small features and pieces that appeal to people who listen to all the types of music mentioned, increasing the demographic.

Even though the results are quite similar and evenly spread out, the most common option is that they have seen a live performance in the past 6 weeks. This shows that they enjoy seeing live performances as the majority of the answers show that they have, at least, seen a live performance; suggesting that having an addition of live performances or possibly having tickets to see live performances offered from the magazine would increase the number of people who purchase the magazine.

These results show that 50% of my chosen focus group buy magazines and that 50% of them do not buy magazines. This suggests that for the people who don’t buy magazines, perhaps an online shortened version should be available for them or a website that they can go to if they are interested in the music genre or stories that are in my magazine without having to buy the magazine itself.

From the results we can tell that the most popular magazines amongst the focus group are music, fashion or entertainment magazines, showing that the music magazine would be popular amongst my target audience and that with the addition of something entertaining to the magazine while keeping up with the latest fashion trends would increase the audience size.

From the results that this graph show, 56% of the focus group would prefer to see VIP passes as a freebie in a magazine they bought. As these are exclusive and expensive, they cannot simply be given away for free with every issue. However, a competition to win VIP passes to a live performance would be a better option as more people would buy the magazine for the chance to win.

The majority (82%) of the group follow and are interested current fashion trends and brands. This links in with an earlier question and shows that my magazine will have to keep up with the latest fashion trends and anyone used as a model for a picture that will be used inside the magazine will have to be well-dressed and up-to-date in terms of what they are wearing in order to appeal to a popular part of my target audience.

The results from this graph show that the focus group like the artists which I have selected. These are all artists from the hip-hop genre and are the type of artists that my target audience will listen to. Therefore, if the artists in my magazine are similar to the artists shown here, then it will appeal to the right demographic.

41% of people from these results would spend up to £3.00 on a magazine. This has given me an idea of the price rice of where to price my music magazine. If the magazine appeals highly to the target audience and is popular amongst them by using ways shown in the previous results then they will be encouraged to spend more money on it.
