or when you sense danger or psychology pressure. In fact, stress is a response, It is the body’s way to pro-tect yourself.

You can notice stress’ symptoms, and avoid suffering from stress overload. We usually think the causes of stress are negative events, but the stressors are ne-gative and positive. It can be showed in many types, it depends on its level or frequency. However, not all types of stress are harmful. As follows, there are some of them: The first is Eustress. It is not dangerous, It can be fun and exciting, because it giving energy to your life. The second is named acute stress. This is a type of stress that is more common in a daily routine in your life. And the most worrying, Chronic stress, is dangerous and can cause damage to your body.

Stress can affect your body in many ways. For this reason it is necessary to keep them under control to stay healthy and to avoid psychological and medical problems. As a matter of fact, stress symptoms can affect your body (headache, sleep problems, muscle tension or pain, etc.), your thoughts and your feelings, and as a result, it can affect your behavior too. If you notice any warning stress’ signs, it’s really important and appropriate that you go to see a doctor.

But remember, stress is normal in our life; the most important thing is how to manage it. We need to trying to control the way to respond to negative and po-sitive events, including taking changes on your thoughts, emo-tions, schedule, environment, and the way to confront the pro-blems. All of them are necessary to live happily.

Additionally, the cigarette has cau-sed lung Cancer. The components of cigarettes are very harmful to your health even a risk of losing your good health, with: heart attack, erectile dysfunction and can also lead to birth defects.

SMOKING IN YOUR HEALTH

Cancer is common in the world, it´s a sickness that affects one part of the body but is fatal if not discovered in time.

The cells begin to grow up out of control and destroy tissues un-til metastasizes happens in some cases, the tumor cells expand for the body through the bloodstream and the lymphatic system. Cancer divided into two groups: for envi-ronmental causes, and hereditary genetic causes.

People know the negative effect that smoking has in their health, but, people continue smoking and they keep smoking.

Don´t forget the benefits of sto-pping smoking, to improve your health: you could have better sex, improve your fertility, younger looking skin, whiter teeth, better breathing, longer file, less stress, improve your senses (smell and taste), more energy and obviously, healthy loved ones.

For smokers, quitting smoking could be not easy, but they can do it. Remember the most important thing: you will save money, almost, to eliminate fire risk, and the best, you will be more socially acceptable. For those reasons is important, that you don´t smoke.

CANCER... A SILENT ASSASSIN

Cancer affects all people of all ages. The more affected organs are the lungs, breasts, pancreas, stomach, colon, brain, and other else like the bones (sarcoma), the blood (leukemia), etc. Tobacco, liquor, obesity, poor diet and the radiation are the most frequently causes.

To diagnosis of cancer, it requires a biopsy in the part that is pro-bably affected. Following this pro-cess, and after finding the location of the tumor, we need to proceed with a surgery, chemotherapy or radiotherapy or the third which depends on how much cancer has grown. Cancer can cause about 13

% of the deaths, talking about 7.9 million people.

But the cure is worse than the sic-kness, because we are confronted with a war against the sickness, the time and our body´s resistance. People can´t bear the treatments and finally they just die slowly.

So, the best way to prevent this situation is doing more for your-self, and your health. It´s not just doing exercise, eating vegetables and fruits. It´s about medical checkings, periodical exams, good vibe in every situation and in each stages of life.

Olga Piedrahita studied Art in Nicolls state Uni-versity in Lousiana, U.S. she came to Colombia since 1982, in this year she and her sister Eulalia created Barroco workshop in Medellin. Now, she has her sotre in Rosa Zone in Bogota.

She is a very famous designer; her most impor-tant art is fashion. She thinks fashion is changes, adventure and curiosity. Olga uses Barroco and Neorromantico styles; she’s crazy about Barroco style.

Recently she’s A wedding dress creator. She lo-ves Vanguardista styles in these clothes, but she creates cocktail dresses and suit of show, with those clothes she likes to create an international boutique.

The last August she was select the most famous and interesting designer modernist clothes, in that month she participated in Bogota Fashion with Oscar de la Renta, Margarita Zing, from Ve-nezuela and Benito Fernanadez, from Argentina. In this show she was the only Colombian desig-ner.FA

Special Effects are defined as a group of techniques which make possible to modify the appea-rance of the image or the sound in a film.

There are a lot of ways to clas-sify special effects, according to different writers of cinema books. Some of them say that there are two kinds: the prefilm effects which are programmed before and the cinematographic, which are used in the same re-cording, usually with a double. However the “Art and Cinema Science Academy” has classified them in two categories: visual effects and sound effects.

THE MAGIC OF THE SPECIAL EFFECTS

A lot of films have been created with special effect, one of the first productions created using computer graphics was “Sher-lock Holmes”, and after that “king kong” was filmed in 1933, later in the 70´s movies like “star wars” obtained an excellent de-velopment showing what it could happen in the future.

While special effects have been developed, their use has been more common and necessary to accomplish really attractive movies.

Actually, during the 80´s, producers began to experiment with digi-tal effects (created by computer) and since there the cinematogra-phic industry becomes less industrial and more digital. Nowadays, this technique has been developed more and more, creating very important films like “Titanic” or “The Lord of the rings”.

Northeast of Brazil is located Salvador, Bahia’s capital. Its his-toric name is “City of the Holy Saviour of the Bay of all Saints”; nowadays is just ca-lled Salvador, but it’s also known as “Capi-tal of happiness and

SALVADOR TROPICAL PARADISEBlack Rome”. Salvador was founded by Tomé de Sousa in 1549; it was Brazil’s capital for 214 years, from 1549 to 17631. On the other hand, thanks to the convergence of Africans, Portuguese and natives who left an awesome, extraordinary and huge cultural heritage, it’s not a mistake to assert that Salvador is rich in traditions and customs; these are reflected in the architecture, gastronomy, music and dan-ce.

As well, Salvador is divided into a small hill between High City and Low City. Surprisingly, they are connected by one of their tourist at-traction: “Lacerda Elevator”, at the same time. It has been used to connect the city for over 100 years2; through it, a lot of generations have seen the development of the city and of course, they have captured the wonderful landscape of Bay of all Saints. As mentioned previously, this city has a magnificent cultural herita-ge. For that reason, the historic center of Salvador was designed World Heritage Site by Unesco in 19853, and it is commonly known as the Pelourinho. It adopted this name in remembrance of slaves because in the Pelourinho, it is a kind of stone column, the slaves were punished there. So, walking through this place means to return three or four centuries. The streets

are steep and cobbled paving, the buildings have an exquisite archi-tecture with high ceilings, colorful walls and details in wood and gold. Interestingly, the city of Salvador is known as Black Rome because there are around 365 churches4, most of them were built in the Ba-roque style. The historic center can be enjoyed in different ways, but it is divided into three big pla-ces: a) from Main Square to Largo de São Francisco, b) the Largo de Santo Antônio Além do Carmo, and c) Largo do Carmo. Everywhere, there are museums as important as Arte da Bahia Museum, cultural houses such as Fundação Casa de Jorge Amado, “Dona Flor e Seus Dois Maridos” which was written by him; monasteries and cathe-drals, and some of those have mu-seums, too.

Namorados Park, Costa Azul Park, Park of the City, Park of Pituaçu5. European soccer teams are the most important around the world. However the-re are three countries where are the most famous and impor-tant teams: England, Spain, and Italy. These are the principal soc-cer leagues and their

clubs are the best too. Italy has “football club internazionale Milano” call it “inter de Milan” and “associazione ca-lico Milan” call it Mi-lan A.C. Those are the most representative clubs in Italy. They won a lot of tourna-ments and Milan is the most important city in the Italian soc-cer. England has a lot of famous teams but lately the three most important teams are “Manchester united”, Chelsea F.C” and “ar-senal F.C”. Between the three, have won all England tourna-ments lately, and fina-lly Spain. This league has the two most im-portant teams in the world currently: Real Madrid and Barcelona F.C.

MAJOR SPORT EVENTS IN THE WORLDThe soccer WORLD CUP was held for the first time in Uruguay in 1930. Since then, it has become into a competition for the national teams of the different continents with 32 participating countries and with the most widely re-cord of viewers and fans. As we conti-nue, the next im-portant sport event is the Olympic ga-mes, with a variety of competitions in which many sports men and women par-ticipate representing their countries in the different disciplines. The origin of these games dates from the

8th century BC to the 4th century AD in Olympia, Greece. Although the current Olympic Games inclu-de the winter and summer sports, the inclusion of the winter and the Paralympic games was just until the 20th century.

In conclusion, there are many kinds of theater, the important is that you can enjoy the once of ar-tistic expressions most beautiful and representative of our culture.

SOME IMPORTANT CULTURAL EVENTSAround the world there are a lot of art and cultural events. There are film festivals, theater festivals, song festivals, painting or photo-graphic galleries, or events similar to those. But, what kind of cultural event do you prefer? Well, we did a survey about art and culture and some people agreed that the most important cultural events are: Can-nes Film Festival, Ibero-American Theater Festival and Viña del Mar International Song Festival. Now, we´ll let you know a bit of each one of these events.

The Cannes Film Festival is proba-bly the most important film event around the world and it’s celebra-

ted in France. Jean Zay, Fine Arts and the Minister of Education crea-ted it. Soon afterwards, around 1939, it was inaugurated under the direction of Louis Lumiére. Unfortunately, the film festival had its first edition until September, 20 of 1946. However, the organizers changed the celebration month and since 1952 it’s held every May.

On the other hand, the festival hopes to en-courage, support and reward some films, as proclaimed in the festival’s policies: “The aim of the Festival is to encourage the development of the art of filmmaking in all its forms, while fostering and maintaining a spirit of collabora-tion among all filmmaking countries” (extract from the Festival policy, 1948.)

The Ibero-American Theater Festival was crea-ted, directed and produced by Fanny Mickey from March of 1988 until the year 2008. Most theater festivals aren’t nearly as big as Ibero-American Theater Festival. It’s much bigger. Sadly, you can only enjoy it once every two years in Bogotá, Colombia. Additionally, some countries like Germany, United States of Ame-rica, Spain, France and some others have par-ticipated on the festival.

The last cultural event I will show is the Viña del Mar International Song Festival. It is consi-dered the most important musical event in La-tin- America and it is always held in February since 1960 in Viña del Mar, Chile. So far, it has two competitions: The Pop music genre and

folk song genre. Fi-nally, it is necessary to say the names of some winning artists, like Piero Cotto, Caro-lina Sabino, María Mu-lata, Braulio, etc..

In my opinion, we can get to know and even enjoy many events, because our world has different cultures. Additionally, people always want to say and express some-thing that everybody can enjoy. We can also enjoy learning about different traditions, as well as understand them as a part of the world art and culture events.
