Administrator’s Corner

Third Sunday of Easter, April 30, 2017

Dear Brothers and Sisters in Christ:

Continued Easter greetings to you! May the Risen Lord be alive in your life and bringing much needed transformation in both mind and heart.

We wish to congratulate our high school youth who celebrated the Sacrament of Confirmation this past Friday, April 28th. Bishop Dominic Luong bestowed the gift of the Holy Spirit upon each of them with much love and grace. The ceremony was filled with tremendous joy as each of our Confirmandi affirmed their Catholic faith and willingly accepted their mission to follow the example of Jesus Christ within their lives. Please continue to pray for them in the coming days as they journey with Our Lord with this new light of faith.

Our Capital Campaign efforts are moving with great momentum, and we would like to offer each of you an opportunity to join us in a very simple way. Your input in this project is desper-ately needed to make it a success. We ask that you participate in a brief online survey that will help us determine the direction we need to take going forward. The survey will take only a few minutes of your time. Will you prayerfully consider helping us with this request? As a family, united in Christ, we are called to do our part to continue the work that Jesus entrusted in us when he said, “Do this in remembrance of me.” May we be doers of His word and fulfill what He is calling us to do for the continued life and growth of our parish community with this project. More information about this survey will be shared next Sunday at each of our week-end Masses.

Finally, I officially announce to you the appointment of our new Business Manager, Bill Weeks. Bill just completed his tenure with the Walt Disney Company after twelve years of dedicated service in the area of Cash and Asset Management. We are truly blessed to have him with us in this capacity. You will have a chance to meet Bill next weekend as he formally ad-dresses our community at each Mass. Please refer to page 8 for more information about him and the talents he brings to our loving community.

Today’s readings speak of Jesus’ never-failing love for us, that through His death and resurrec-tion, He forever reigns supreme, and His mercy knows no end. Let us together let Him into our life this day. Let us follow His call to action. Let us allow His love to never fail us in all we do for his loving Father. Peace, Fr. Bao

Mission News

Our Mission News this month comes to us from St. Cecil-ia’s own Father Michael Mathews who is in Uganda, East Africa.

He writes: “Just a quick note about life here. The draught is hitting all parts of East Africa. The vast majori-ty of people here in Uganda, around 80%, depend upon their personal gardens for food. They plant maize, beans, cassava, and other vegetables so they can survive on what they grow. Without any rain, the scorching sun destroyed their crops and sources of food. As a result, people are starving, food prices are sky-rocketing, and most people are now eating only one meal a day. There are long lines at public water spigots, and people are waiting for hours to fill plastic containers before walking kilometers back to their homes. The situation is quite dire here and as usu-al the government is not able to meet the demands of the people. Please pray for all the suffering people here, espe-cially the children, who will be unable to start school be-cause of the lack of school fees, the income usually earned from selling home-grown crops. Warm regards, Father Michael”

Please remember to continue to use the Blue Mission Envelope for your monthly donation. Remember also to give Father Bao a thank you for keeping The St. Cecilia Mission Ministry in action in our parish.

Dear Brothers & Sisters in Christ,

I wish to extend my personal gratitude to you, as well as the Parish Finance Council, in appointing me as your new Parish Business Manager. I am humbled by this appointment and praise God for allowing me the opportunity to serve you in this capacity.

Let me share with you a little about myself. I am a native Californian, born and raised in the fishing community of San Pedro. I am married to my wife Carrie, for the past 13 years and have a wonderful son who is 8 years old named Brendan. We live here in the community of Tustin. I am a product of Catholic education having received my formal business certification through Loyola Marymount University in Los Angeles. I currently hold a bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, as well as a Master’s Degree in Education. I have been very fortunate to have worked for several well-known organizations, including Citibank, Skechers USA, as well as the Walt Disney Company.

Know that I am thrilled to now be a part of the warm and loving community here at Cecilia, which is celebrating its 60th anniversary this coming summer. Please feel free to reach out to me at any time. My contact information is listed in the bulletin.

May we, together as God’s people, continue to bear witness to Him in our lives and bring others more closely to his joyful love.

Yours in Christ,
