MAJOR SEMI FINALS THIS WEEKEND - WOY WOY OVAL

The Terrigal Trojans club have worked so hard during 2017 and have secured first grade and second grade minor premierships. Our first grade team have remained undefeated throughout the season however, this weekend the real work starts when we play Ourimbah in the major semi-finals in both grades. that can slot a penalty from anywhere in their opponent’s half. This will be a great test of rugby with two strong sides going head to head. A Trojan for me in first grade this weekend. In second grade a grand final appearance is also on offer to these two standout teams. It was one win a piece during the season, so expect this to be a tight match. Terrigal have a great second grade pack with players coming back in to the forward pack for this major semi-final. The battle of the forwards will also lay the platform for a victory for either side. Both teams will throw the ball far and wide so again expect an open tussle in the backlines. Ourimbah will start fast and the Trojans need to be ready to put their stamp on the game from the opening whistle. Expect this to happen as the Trojans seconds are a well drilled and structured rugby team. A Trojan for me in second grade also this weekend. The second grade game will commence at 1:20pm. First Grade will commence at 3:00pm. When the Terrigal supporters show up in numbers it makes a huge difference to the prospects and performance of our club. Let’s get to the rugby this weekend to cheer home our Trojans top representatives to wins in first grade and second grade and a place in this years grand finals. See you at the Major Semi-finals this weekend!

RESULTS OF MINOR SEMI FINALS

Last weekend in the minor semi finals the Trojan club were represented by our Colts and third grade. The colts had a player sent off early which made their eventual victory an even greater performance. The colts came together as a team to produce a strong defensive performance and then went on to score tries with Vaughan Kernan crashing over for a try late in the second half to secure their victory 25 points to 14. There is no doubt this side can go all the way. Our colts have beaten the two remaining sides in the competition during the year and it now comes down to their desire to work as a team to win through to the grand final next weekend. Well done Colts. Third grade put on a great team performance leading the match early but were beaten by an Avoca side who were full of running 27 points to 13. The season is now over for our third grade however in retrospect it was a strong season for the thirds. They can look back and be proud of their year with many people in the team putting so much into the Trojan club on and off the park. Third grade lead our barbecues on Thursday evenings, sold tickets for the raffles during the year and Brent Mungovan is the creator of the famous Mungbets. The thirds have worked to create a great culture within their team, the club and the Trojans supporters. Well done to thirds for your year and thank you to the third grade sponsors Neils Bowen of Chemist Outlet and Chris Bourke of Central Coast Bitumen for your

MENS SHED - ERINA

The Mens Shed of Erina are a group of dedicated volunteers who complete significant amounts of community work around the coast. The Mens Shed have just linked with the Trojans to upgrade the original chairs from our rugby club house. The team lead by Adrian and Gary are sanding back and lacquering our chairs to bring them back to as new. The lacquer for the chairs was donated by Bill and Al's Painting and Brian Long from Bristol Paints Erina. If you have some spare time and would like to be involved in the Mens Shed Erina, please contact Adrian and Gary through their website.

GOLDEN OLDIES

A merry bunch of ex-Trojans, proud 'has-been' dads and sly silver foxes responded to the call for a Golden Oldies match against The Entrance Rugby Club at Sir Joseph Banks Oval on a warm Saturday afternoon, 19th August 2017. Dads Army consisted of the following players: Ben Newport, Blair Puata, Sacha Royce, Chris Horner-Donnelly, Ken Wheelock, Mark Townsend, Ian Dutka, Marty Saifiti, Damien Gardiner, Tom Green, Dirk McCormack, Simon Petley, James Lewis, Steve Duncan, Nathan Vale, Frank Cohen, Justin Kaeser Played within the spirit of the game and Golden Oldies tradition, the boys from Terrigal represented the club bravely and with pride. Despite gasping for breath and collectively looking for a substitute 10 minutes into the first half, they fought on bravely and endured the 2 x 20 minute halves. Strong support could be found on the sidelines care of partners, wives and children (all wildly entertained). The biggest challenge was most likely at half time when each player was given a can of beer, meat pie and a swig of port. After keeping all these contents within their bellies the boys in blue defended their line like true Trojans and showed some enterprising play with some expansive tries. The end result was Terrigal 6 tries to nil. Well done to all the lads, who despite bumps and aches reminding them of their vintage, admitted to thoroughly enjoying themselves. This match may prove the impetus to something more regular down the track...so watch this space.

PLAYERS PASSES FOR FINALS

It was noted by Central Coast Rugby last Saturday that some players/clubs were trying to exploit the Player Pass situation.

Player Passes are given to clubs involved in the Finals to give to their players and coaching/management staff ONLY.

Last Saturday, there were no females listed on the Team List's management staff, but several arrived trying to use passes to get in. They did not.

Do not give them to wives and girlfriends, and then arrive with a players bag saying you are a player.

Players must have a pass to get in - it is quite simple.
