CHOOSING MY TITLES PAGE

When planning my Ident I watched different tutorials on the best software to use. I found that Final Cut Pro had good titles pages that I could customise to fit my horror genre film. I chose the ink splats as the animation was simple and there was a lot of room for customisation.

CUSTOMISINGThe next thing I did was change the writing on the title page. I confered with my group on ident names and we came up with ‘RED KAM’. We thought that ‘Red’ could closely resemble our horror genre as the colour is commonly linked to blood and danger. ‘KAM’ is my groups initials; Keziah, Alex, Mollie.

CUSTOMISING

Next, played around with the colour of the ink on the title page. I tried different colours and tones of red until I found this deep, blood like red that looked similar to blood.

Here is the option to change the ink colour of the animation.

CUSTOMISINGI thought that the white background looked to light to match the dark themes of our genre horror so I changed the background to black. I also changes the font of the writing to look scratched out and as if the blood had blended in to the text. I also changed the colour of ‘RED’ to red so it would stand out against the background.

SOUND EFFECTSFrom the research I conducted on horror sounds, I found that a lot of sound effects used in horror films aren’t what they seem. They are usually random objects or sounds such as ‘impact metal’ which when layered give a spooky and creepy effect. I flicked through many of Final Cut Pro’s sound effects to find the perfect harmony of sounds to fit my ident.

SOUND EFFECTSHere you can see my final timeline of our company ident. I added a drone dark and scary sound effect as almost a backing track. I also added a water drip sound effect and matched the dripping sounds to the animation of my ident. Flutter feedback gave a louder more intense feel to my ident, which I then stopped for the impact metal sound effect which matched the final two blood splatters on the animation.
