Your Trek Travel guides will meet you at the Hotel HM Jaime III (Paseo Mallorca,14B, 07012, Palma de Mallorca, Baleares, Spain) at 10:45 AM on the first day of the trip. Today’s ride will take you into the countryside which is dotted with rustic farmhouses and charming medieval villages. These quiet country roads wind through olive groves, orchards of almond and orange trees, with the backdrop of the majestic Tramuntana Mountain range. This evening gather with your fellow travelers for cocktails and get to know your companions a little better before enjoying dinner in the hotel bistro which prides itself on delighting guests with its own brand of innovative and seasonal Mallorcan cuisine.

DAY 3: Basic Option: Reads Hotel to Port de Sóller Approximately 27 miles with 1,500 feet of climbing

Avid Option: Reads Hotel to Port de Sóller via Col d´Orient Approximately 27 miles with 2,700 feet of climbing

Spectacular views are in store today as you climb up and over the “col de Sóller,” one of Mallorca’s most famous rides. Wide switchbacks take you past the terraced valleys of the western Tramuntana Mountains while sweeping views of the blue Mediterranean Sea greet you as you crest the summit where you’ll enjoy a charming lunch overlooking the Sóller valley below. This afternoon descend into the old town and then onto the beach in Port de Sóller. Here you can sit back and relax at the beachfront hotel, wander through the port or maybe take a dip in the crystalline Mediterranean Sea. Enjoy an afternoon massage or relax in the sun at the hotel’s terraced pools to watch the yachts in the harbor. Tonight you’ll take the old town tram, “the Orange Express” back into the medieval town of Sóller, where you can explore tiny streets filled with boutiques, bars and eateries. Indulge your tastebuds tonight at a local bistro to experience some “mar y montana” (sea and mountain) specialties.

DAY 4: Basic Option: Port de Sóller to Valldemossa Return Approximately 27 miles with 2,700 feet of climbing

Avid Option: Port de Sóller to Valldemossa with Esporles Loop Approximately 41 miles with 4,100 feet of climbing

A breathtaking morning ride will take you along the famous Tramuntana coastline - once the jealously guarded prize of pirates and ancient civilizations. You’ll discover the enchanting towns of Deià and Valldemossa that date back to the reign of the Moorish kings, and more recently famous as the home of artists including Frédéric Chopin and the writer George Sand, who wrote “A Winter in Majorca” about the experience. After enjoying lunch in a local bistro you’ll spend the rest of the afternoon riding along the stunning coastline which reveals dramatic views of land and sea at every turn. Tonight is yours to explore the sophisticated Port de Sóller with its many shops of locally made goods, bistros serving delicious local fare and chic after-dinner lounges. Alternatively venture back to the old town of Sóller to seek out other Mallorcan culinary gems and delights for another fantastic Mallorcan feast.

DAY 5: Basic Option: Port de Sóller to Sa Calobra Approximately 23 miles with 3,400 feet of climbing

Avid Option: Port de Sóller to Sa Calobra Return Approximately 45 miles with 7,000 feet of climbing

Short Option: Gorg Blau to Sa Calobra Approximately 8 miles with 500 feet of climbing

This morning’s ride climbs out of old town Sóller and up to the base of Puig Major, the highest pass in Mallorca at a “respectable” 4,800 feet above the shimmering Mediterranean Sea. Then it’s the awe inspiring and perhaps spine-tingling ride down, alongside the second deepest gorge in all of Europe, Sa Calobra! The descent is on a switchback road that is a marvel of engineering: 5 miles of hairpin turns, 12 of which turn at 80 degrees and one, the “Nus de Corbata” (tie knot) at a full 360 degrees. The road ends spectacularly on the beach at the mouth of the gorge where you can enjoy lunch at the cafe of your choice to refresh and refuel for the ascent home. Alternatively, explore the tunnels that lead to a secluded beach, perfect for sunbathing, and then take the ferry back to the Esplendido. Tonight you’ll celebrate and toast to your week of adventure in Mallorca and the “Mar y Montana” as you celebrate with a final dinner enjoying the sunset on the magical Mediterranean Sea.

Hotel | Hotel Esplendido | www.EsplendidoHotel.com

DAY 6: Basic Option: Port de Sóller to Deià Church Return Approximately 15 miles with 1,300 feet of climbing

This morning is your choice: if you’re hungry for more climbing, today’s short option gives you the opportunity to ride the stunning coast road up to Deià. You’ll have time to take in the last vast views of the Mediterranean while descending down to the Port. Alternatively, relax, sleep in and enjoy a quiet, lazy breakfast to the sound of the surf gently lapping the shore. Take time for some shopping in the village or in the old town for some last minute souvenirs of this enchanting island paradise. You’ll say farewell to your guides at 11:30 AM at the Hotel Esplendido.
