CONTROL SYSTEMS IN OUR “LIFE-BODY-MEDICINE”
Imagine the life without CONTROL!
Control technology permeates every aspect of our lives. We rely on them
to perform a wide variety of tasks without giving much thought to the
origins of the technology or how it became such an important part of our
lives! “CONTROL SYSTEMS” applications cover the uses of control
systems, both in the common and in the uncommon areas of our lives.
From the everyday to the unusual, it's all…from process control to internet
of things to human in the loop control.
Human Body Temperature Control System
Article

Control systems theory can be discussed from four viewpoints as: an
intellectual discipline within science and the philosophy of science, a
part of engineering, with industrial & military applications and social
systems of the present and the future. It is to be found in almost every
aspect of our daily environment. The human body is tightly controlled
“ENGINEERING” miracle. The human body is, indeed, a very complex
and highly perfected adaptive control system. However, medical courses
generally do not cover “CONTROL” in physiology, pathophysiology and
therapeutics. The teaching and research must incorporate an
understanding of the control systems in physiology and take advantage
of the quantitative tools used by engineering to understand complex
systems. Control systems are ubiquitous in physiology, though often
unrecognized. The role of control in i) Physiology- heart rate variability,
immunity, ii) Pathophysiology - inflammation in sepsis, and iii)
Therapeutic devices- diabetes and the artificial pancreas.
The modern control system predicts the future error and accordingly
take corrective measure. The life itself is very uncertain, there the
concept of robust control systems are comes into picture to handle
uncertainty. Source: Control Systems Magazines

Message for the Students
We would suggest that the students keep up a balance between the
academics and co-curricular activities. Do well in academics and do try to
make a good use of the opportunities available beyond the class. Attend your
classes, complete your assignments and take your mini / main projects very
seriously.
Join the YOGA, Gym classes, become part of a Professional society / Technical
committees. It is not necessary for you to be part of a formal cultural,
curricular, co curricular organization made for students. You can volunteer for
a good cause as well. These societies and groups, where you get yourself
attached to the people, take you to a very different platform which gives you
a lot of maturity and understanding which you can't get just by reading your
textbooks.
