Introduction 1 Introduction Inner Turnstiles are complete pieces of equipment for access control which join strength to safety. The various designs and functions allow for the installation of turnstiles in different environments with different needs. The access control list allows for the configuration of days and times when each user may access the controlled location. Inner commands the turnstile according to the settings chosen on Manager SW. The record may be made using a card, biometry, or via keyboard, if it is enabled. If you are using a card, depending on the Inner Turnstile model, a bar coded, magnetic, proximity, or smart card may be used. In addition to control access, turnstiles may also be used for time & attendance control, using configurable functions. The Inner series allows for the accurate and safe collection of employees' clock in and out records. Such records are used by a time & attendance control software to calculate working hours, overtime, absent hours, and so on. Turnstile allows for the definition of the times when each employee may punch in/out, thus avoiding the recording of undesired overtime. The data recorded are stored on Turnstile’s memory until they can be sent to a computer. Inners Manager SW, which comes with the product, is used to configure the Turnstile and collect the data stored. When the TCP/IP or RS485 interface is used, the Turnstiles may be connected as a network. Up to 99 Turnstiles may be connected when using TCP/IP and 32 Turnstiles when using RS485. Inners Manager software offers wide configuration possibilities for the operation of Inner, and it is enough for general applications. However, Turnstiles.us also allows for integrators to develop customized softwares targeted at specific needs, thus allowing online and offline applications to be developed.

Introduction When in online mode, the computer permanently communicates with the Turnstile, which is fully dedicated to one application. The data collected by the Turnstile are immediately transferred to the computer, which analyzes them and returns a command to Inner. That way, the computer itself defines the messages that should show on the display and tells Inner to activate the devices connected to it. To use in online mode, a special program is needed. In case the user is interested in developing his/her own system, Turnstiles.us may provide the programming libraries used to communicate with the turnstiles. Contact sales representative to receive further details. When in offline mode, the Turnstile is configured by the computer and keeps such configuration in its memory. That way, the computer may be switched off or used for other purposes while the Turnstile remains operational and collecting the data for its memory. Inners Manager software operates in offline mode, but allows for the data collection to occur online through the automatic collection. This manual brings information regarding the different Inner Turnstile models found at www.turnstiles.us. The huge variety provides a large application range, thus making it easy to be used in various places. Features portrayed by such collectors may easily suit your need and environment.

Introduction 1.6 Options for turnstiles

1.6.1 Biometry

Turnstiles may have the Biometry identification option. Inner Bio turnstile reads the user's fingerprint features to punch in/out or to grant access to controlled locations. The biometric reading may occur in two different ways: through identification or through verification. IDENTIFICATION MODE (1:N) In identification mode, the user simply places his/her finger on top of the biometric reader so that his/her fingerprint is read and identified. Inner Bio compares such fingerprint with all other ones registered and identifies the user. VERIFICATION MODE (1:1) In verification mode, the user first identifies himself/herself by giving the number or card number, and then places his/her finger on top of the biometric reader. The fingerprint will be read and compared to the one registered for this specific user, thus checking the user's identity. The number of users that may be registered depends on the biometric module’s model, as in the table below, which is valid both for Top, Revolution, and Box turnstiles. Introduction 1.6.2 Drop box

This option is only available for Turnstile Revolution and for Turnstile Box, in the models carrying proximity reader. Turnstile is equipped with two readers. The first is used for entrance, it reads the card and frees the turnstile, thus allowing the user to enter with the card. When exiting, the user is to place the card into a gap where the second reader is located. After being read, the card is driven to a box inside the turnstile. The exit is allowed and the card is kept inside the box, which is inside the turnstile. The collection of cards is performed by opening the lid with a key. 1.6.3 Articulated arm

Inner Turnstiles equipped with an articulated arm mechanism have the feature of making the arm in horizontal position, blocking the user’s passage, falls into vertical position, thus freeing users’ passage in the event of power blackouts or when the turnstile is turned off. The picture below illustrates the position of the turnstile’s arm before the turnstile is turned on. Position 1 - free passage After turning turnstile on, the arm will remain in such position. The arm must be manually raised into horizontal position, and it will remain in such position only if the electromagnetic power source is on. Introduction The arm must be manually raised from position 1 to position 2, with the power supply connected. Under normal operation, the turnstile’s arm is in horizontal position, as seen in the picture below. Position 2 - controlled passage In case the turnstile is turned off, or in the event of power blackout, the arm shall automatically fall from position 2 to position 1. Top, Revolution, and Box turnstiles may be equipped with articulated arm mechanism.

Settings 3 System configuration

Inner Turnstiles are very flexible systems that may operate differently according to the user’s needs. To define the Turnstile’s operation method, you need to set it up. Such settings are divided into two parts: • Local Settings and • Settings Via Computer The Turnstile shall keep its settings even when it is turned off. Through local settings, the following are defined: • Inner Number; • Card standard; • Inner Type; • Behavior in the event of a full buffer; • TCP/IP settings for Inner Net; • Type of communication for Inner Plus; • Turnstile settings Inner turnstiles may be equipped with different program versions, depending on the turnstile models. The program is technically known as firmware, aka FW. The FW models used are: - Inner Plus FW - standard version for serial communication - Inner Bio FW - biometric version for serial communication - Inner Net FW - standard version for TCP/IP communication - Inner Bio Net FW - biometric version for TCP/IP communication In this manual, we present the settings for common features to all these firmwares, as well as specific settings for serial communication, TCP/IP communication, and for biometry. Regarding general features, messages from an FW may be slightly different when compared to messages from another firmware.

Fingerprint registration 4.2 Sending fingerprints to the equipment

Inner Bio and Inner Bio Net, versions for 1000 and 4000 users, allow for fingerprints registered on an Inner to be transferred to other Inners in the network. The file containing fingerprint information is known as template. Through the template maintenance feature present on the Inners Manager software, it is possible to transmit templates between Inners, as well as backing up fingerprints registered. The template maintenance feature is not available for Inner Bio Light and Inner Bio Net Light models, which have a 100 user capacity. Fingerprint registration may also be performed using a device connected to the computer and then sent to Inners through the Inners Manager software. To do so, it is necessary to use a portable fingerprint reader (Hamster), which is marketed by Turnstiles.us. Such device is connected to the computer through an USB port and reads the user's fingerprint. That way, such fingerprints may be stored on the database or directly sent to Inner. To use such option, use "Inner" menu "Register user’s fingerprint". Such option is valid for Inner Bio and Inner Bio Net models bearing 1000 and 4000 user capacity, but is not available for Light model, which is capable of storing 100 users.

Fingerprint registration After registering both fingerprints, they will be automatically sent to the Inner selected. 4.3 Tips for improving the fingerprint verification

The fingerprint registration phase is essential for the good operation of a biometric system. The image that will serve as reference for future comparisons each time the user is ID'd is generated in the registration. A good registration shall contribute for better everyday user identification. It is also important that the user follows some usage guidelines in order to achieve a good identification. The precision and reliability of the fingerprint verification process may be improved by making sure that the fingers are placed on the biometric sensor in the correct way. Below you can see examples of good and bad finger placement. Case 1 Case 2

Good finger placement Bad finger placement

Straight, covering all Finger is not covering reader glass with a biometric reader’s slight pressure glass area

DOs:

Case 3

Bad finger placement

Finger is in wrong direction

The finger must cover the glass area (situation 1), touching only the upper part of the finger guide. The finger must be pressed downwards in a relatively firm fashion. Fingerprint registration DON'Ts: DON’T slide finger inside the guide. DON’T place finger on the guide, as shown in situations 2 or 3. DON’T press finger using excessive strength. ADDITIONAL COMMENTS: Skin usually has a natural oiliness. After washing and drying your hand or after having contact with some sort of dust, the finger may lose such oiliness, which will interfere in the quality of the image captured by the fingerprint reader. Then, a practice that shows good results is to rub the finger on the forehead or nose, thus transferring an amount of oiliness to the finger and considerably improving the quality of the image generated for the fingerprint identification.

Operation Mode 5 Inner operation mode

Inner operation mode is determined by the settings it receives from the computer. To run such settings, use the Inners Manager software: To obtain information on the setting options, check "Help" menu on Inners Manager software. 5.1 Standard operation mode

Mode in which Inner operates when set with standard values or when it is initialized. 5.1.1 Event record in biometric turnstiles

To record transactions using biometric identification, it is necessary first to register users’ fingerprints, as explained in previous chapters. Using Inners Manager software, it is possible to define if the fingerprint record is to be made using the identification process (1:N), verification process (1:1), or any of such processes. To record a transaction using the identification method (1:N), two options are available: - Placing the finger directly on top of the fingerprint reader. - Pressing the "entrance" or "exit" key first and then placing the finger on top of the fingerprint reader. For the first case to be used, it is necessary to set, using Inners Manager software, which function will be recorded when the user places the finger directly on top of the fingerprint reader, without pressing a key first. Such registration sets "default function" and it is found on "Bio" tab. Such registration must be made so that Inner Bio knows which type of event to record, thus enabling the fingerprint presence sensor and making user identification possible without having to press a key first. Operation Mode In case you need to choose the type of event at every operation you must choose the second option, that is, press "entrance" or "exit" key before placing the finger on top of the fingerprint reader. The reader shall be activated as soon as the key is pressed. To record a transaction using the verification method (1:1), the user must firstly identify himself/herself using the card or keyboard. If user’s fingerprint is registered, reader will be activated to carry out verification.

5.1.2 Event recording operation sequence To check operation mode with readers and cards, check chapter "Readers and cards", present in this manual. When an entrance is recorded, the following message will be displayed: Recording an exit the next message will be displayed: Such messages follow a sound signal with two short beeps and may be changed through the settings on Inners Manager software. The turnstile will be freed for the time set on Inners Manager software. During such time, the message "Entrance OK" or "Exit OK" will keep being displayed. Messages will also be kept on the display if the user interrupts the turn of the turnstile before concluding the movement and leave the arm still. After the turn, the turnstile will be blocked again and wait for a new user identification.

Operation Mode 5.5 Master card operation

Every equipment has its own Master card. The Master card number is set on Inners Manager software, with the standard being a card recorded with all figures as 0 (zero). An authorized person must be responsible for the Master card. With the Master card, you can: • Check data encoded in the card. • Block clock operation. • Free the keyboard to record the entrance or exit of a user that does not have his/her card, or that has his/her access blocked. • Register and delete users’ fingerprints. • For Inner Bio Light and Bio Net Light, it is also possible to check the number of users registered, out of 100 possible. To provide more safety to the use of the Master card, you may choose to register the fingerprint of the person responsible for the card. If that is made, only the person responsible may access the registration or change users’ fingerprint. If the fingerprint of the person responsible for the Master card is not registered, all you have to do is pass the card or type number using keyboard (if enabled) to access Master menu. Master card operations are described below:

5.5.1 Card Verifications With system in normal operation, pass the Master card on the reader. If the Master user’s fingerprint is registered, the biometric reader shall be activated to check the fingerprint. The display will show the following message:

In case another employee wishes to enter registration number using keyboard, the operation must be redone.

5.6 Sending of registers to the computer Registers reception on the computer is carried out using Inners Manager software. Such software may be set to receive registers from Inner even when you are using other applications on the PC. When the connection with the computer is not permanent, Inner stores the registers in its internal memory. The connection must be established periodically so that the data is transferred and Inner’s memory is unloaded.

Readers and Cards 6 Readers and Cards Inner may operate with different types of readers, such as proximity, barcode, magnetic, and smart card readers, in addition to being able to receive data via keyboard. 6.1 Magnetic and Bar Code Readers

When using bar code or magnetic reader, card reading works in a bidirectional way. Entrance is regarded as the passage of the card from right to left (user’s point of view), while exit is the passage of the card in the opposite direction. Such directions may be changed according to the settings defined by Inners Manager software. Two options may be set to organize the data recorded in the card, "Free Standard" or "Turnstiles.us Standard". 6.1.1 Turnstiles.us Standard Card

Turnstiles.us Standard defines the meaning for each figure printed on the card, according to the position of the figure. For Turnstiles.us Standard, fields representing company code, access level, user registration, password to be used for security purposes, and checksum are defined. Such data are organized as follows: E E E N M M M M S S S S C M

where: Company code: EEE 000 to 999 (company code). Access level: N 0 to 9 (employee’s access level, used for access control). Readers and Cards You can always record it as 0, choosing to use Inners Manager software’s access control list for that purpose. Registration number: M M M M M 00000 to 65000 (employee's registration number). The last M, which is showed at the end of the code, is the most significant figure in the registration number. For example, in registration 45632 we have the first 4 figures 5632 and the last figure is 4. Password: S S S S 0000 to 9999 (card password, used for access control. 0000 may be used whenever it is not used). Checksum: C sum of previous figures and last figure (least significant figure resulting from the sum). Example: Company: 123 Level: 4 Registration number: 56789 Password: 9012 Checksum = least significant figure in (1+2+3+4+5+6+7+8+9+0+1+2+3=57) where "7" is the least significant figure to represent checksum. The card number will be as follows: 1 2 3 4 5 6 7 8 9 9 0 1 2 7

6.1.2 Free Standard In Free Standard case, the following standards may be selected:

• interspersed 2 out of 5, aka ITF • 3 out of 9 (check Turnstiles.us before using this standard)

Readers and Cards PL cards for Inner Bio 1000 and 4000 models must have a maximum of 10 figures. For Inner Bio Light, the maximum amount is 8 figures.

6.2 Proximity readers Proximity readers use 125 KHz RFID technology to read the cards without ever touching them. With such type of reader, cards, key chains, and labels may be used to record on Inner. For proximity readers, first it is necessary to press "ENTRANCE" or "EXIT" key and then move the card close or type card number to punch in/out. It is possible to set a "default function" to be recorded whenever the card is presented, without the need to first press any key. Proximity readers used on Inner series have two codification methods: ABA Track2 and Wiegand 26. The main difference between the readers from different producers is the number of figures, according to table below: Card Manufacturer ABA Track2 Wiegand 26 Amount of Figures Amount of Figures HID 8 Indala (Motorola) 10 5 TopProx / Acura 14 6.3 Smart Card / Mifare

Inner may be equipped with a no contact smart card reader, Mifare Standard, which operates in 13,56 MHz frequency.

Readers and Cards The operation mode is the same as for proximity readers, first it is necessary to press "ENTRANCE" or "EXIT" key and then move the card close or type card number to punch in/out. It is possible to set a "default function" to be recorded whenever the card is presented, without the need to first press any key. The exit of Mifare smart card reader only ID (reader that reads only the card number) may have two types of interface: ABA Track2 (number shown with 10 figures) and Wiegand 26 (5 figure number).

6.4 Keyboard To use the keyboard, when it is enabled, type the card number and press "ENTRANCE" or "EXIT" key to punch in/out. To use the keyboard, when Inner is set to proximity reader, first press "ENTRANCE" or "EXIT" key, type card number, and press "CONFIRM" to punch in/out.
