12. When an officer approaches a group ofnon-commissioned members, the senior of thegroup or the person who recognizes the officer firstshall take command and call the group to attention:the senior or person in charge shall then alonesalute. Junior members shall draw their senior’sattention to approaching officers if thecircumstances require and allow.

13. Individual compliments to a formed militarygroup on the march and under the command of anofficer shall be paid by halting, turning to face thegroup and saluting. The salute should bemaintained until the entire group has passed.

14. While bearing arms, individuals shall paycompliments to officers by saluting at the shoulderarms position. Sentries shall pay compliments inaccordance with Chapter 10, Section 4.

17. Appropriate compliments shall be paidwhen recognizing an officer dressed in civilianclothing.

18. When dressed in civilian clothes, allmembers shall stand at attention and malemembers (less Sikhs) shall remove headdress, onany occasion when a salute would be correct inuniform and extreme winter weather conditionsallow. On the march, the headdress is raised orremoved, if applicable, and the head turned right orleft. When headdress is not worn, it is correct toturn the head as required and offer a politegreeting.
18. 19. Buildings. Salutes are not given indoors ineither public or service buildings except onparades, ceremonial occasions, in areas sodesignated by commanders, or when entering orleaving the office of an officer who should be paidcompliments by virtue of his rank or appointment.Further:

a. it is correct to turn the head and offer a politegreeting when meeting an officer in thecommon area of a public or service building;and

Religious Services and Buildings.Conventional marks of respect and courtesy shall beobserved during religious services and in places ofworship, depending on the customs of the religioninvolved and the faith of the member (see A-AD-265-000/AG-001, CF Dress Instructions, Chapter 2,Section 3 for further explanation).

23. Funerals. The following compliments shallbe paid at state, military and civilian funerals:

88. Dressing may be ordered by the centrewhen required if more than one squad is on paradein line or mass. The command is INWARD –DRESS and flanking squads shall dress by their leftor right as appropriate.

89. When a squad is formed with only oneperson in the blank file, that individual shall dresswith the front rank when the squad is advancingand with the rear rank when the squad is retiring.When the squad is moving to a flank, the individualshall dress with the directing flank.

90. When bearing arms, dressing is completedby raising the left arm rather than the right arm.

On the command OPEN ORDER –MARCH, the movements will be executed as forthree check paces forward and to the rear, the finalmovement being executed by bending the rightknee, straightening it in double time and placing theright foot smartly on the ground by the left andassuming the position of attention.

However shouldthe riser of the steps be high, the weather inclement,the casket heavy, or there is any doubt at all themind of the Bearer Party commander of the party'sability to safely maneuver the stairs then thefollowing procedure should be used:

Should the casket slip, the bearerparty commander is in a position to assistthe bearers. Should the casket be veryheavy or the steps long, the end bearers canmove their hands to the end of the casket toassist in bearing the weight, or the bearerparty commander can assist.

On the command PREPARE TO RECEIVEHEADDRESS – RECEIVE, the bearer partywill bend both elbows, at the same timeextending the fingers vertically and togetherto a position, with the palms approximately20 cm apart, in front and to the right or leftof the outside shoulder. The two headdressbearers are to act together and move alongtheir respective files distributing theheaddress to each bearer, ensuring eachreceives the correct headdress (theyshould be marked). Upon completion, theheaddress bearers return to their previouspositions two paces in rear of the bearerparty commander.

Au commandement « PRÊTS ÀRECEVOIR LA COIFFURE —RECEVEZ », les porteurs plient les deuxcoudes tout en étendant les doigts joints àla verticale, les paumes écartées d’environ20 centimètres, vers l’avant et la gauche oula droite de l’épaule extérieure. Les deuxporteurs de coiffures agissentsimultanément et se déplacent le long deleur file respective pour distribuer lescoiffures à chaque porteur en s’assurantque chacun reçoive la bonne (elle devraientêtre identifiées). Une fois qu’ils ont terminé,les porteurs de coiffures retournent à leurposition d’origine, deux pas derrière lecommandant du détachement de porteurs.

c. On the command ATTEN – TION, thebearers are come to the position ofattention and, after the standard pause:
