These skills can be used in many areas of the 5 Star Occupations as well as personal use.

Vocabulary:Address - the particulars of the place where someone lives or an organization is situated.

Coordinates - a set of numbers, or a single number that locates a point on a line, plane or in space.

Crop - to cut away a part of an image.

Map - a diagrammatic representation of an area of land or sea showing physical features.

Paste – allows you to insert what you have copied.

Screen shot or print screen - a photograph or printout showing what appears on a computer screen, especially for the purposes of demonstrating a program.

Go online to the school web page

Find the address of the school

Copy the address

Open Google Maps

Paste in the schools address

Click on Directions

Type in your address

Press enter

By using your snipping tool

Which is found under the start circle.

Open Word

Title the page: Mapping My World

Put your name and period in the header

Paste the screen shot you took earlier, showing the route between your house and the school.

Click on each tab to see the length of time and distance it will take.

Then record how long and how far it is for you to get to school by:

1. Driving 2. Public transportation 3. Walking 4. Biking5. How does the time and/or distance change using a car, bus, walking or biking? 6. Why would it be different?
