2015 Irish Sweepstake Winner for February 22

Congratulations to our $100.00 winner, Stan Epple.

Hello everyone. I pray you are all doing well. As we begin this second week of Lent, we continue to focus on our prayer, fasting and almsgiv-

ing. We establish these practices as ways to both reach out to others in need and to grow in our relationship with God. Above all, the most

important thing we do is celebrate Mass. Having faith in Christ’s presence in the Eucharist and receiving Him in communion with a clean heart

is the most important thing we will ever do. That is why the Eucharist is called the “Source and Summit” of our Faith. The Eucharist is the

reason for our faith, thus the highest and most important part of our faith.

In light of this great gift, every year many disciples come together and organize the Source and Summit Retreat. This retreat is focused on

the most important sacrament of our faith. It is held every year for both youth and adults who come together from all ends of the diocese. The

retreat will consist of Eucharist adoration, confession, Mass, social time and entertainment. There will also be praise and worship music and

many talks by talented and nationally renowned speakers, including Dr. Marcillino D’Ambrosio, who gives exceptional talks to all, from teen-

agers to businessmen. The popular Catholic speaker Immaculee Ilibagiza, a Rwandan genocide survivior, will be sharing her story with us.

Also, the Franciscan Friars of the Renewal will be present, giving talks, playing music and celebrating Mass. I am the chaplain of this retreat so

please join me at Mater Dei High School in Evansville on April 10, 11 & 12 for the youth retreat (ages 13-20) and nearby Resurrection

Catholic Church in Evansville on April 11 for the adult retreat. Please see the website link below for information and registration. For

youth, please speak to Martha Schmitt at St. Mary or Bonnie Meadows at Precious Blood to register.

Total Transformation:

Every Lent the Church encourages us to intensify the threefold prac-

tice of prayer, fasting, and almsgiving in order to detach ourselves

from the world and embrace the Gospel of Jesus Christ with greater

passion and commitment. We are happy to host Splendor of Truth

Ministries founder Dr. Nicholas Lebish for a biblical, spiritual, and

practical study of this threefold path to holiness on Friday, March

20, from 7:00-8:30pm at Precious Blood Church (Endress Hall).

Double Edged Sword:

St. Jerome famously said, “Ignorance of Scripture is ignorance of

Christ.” We are happy to host Dr. Nicholas Lebish to learn how to

get more out of reading Scripture our “doubled edged sword”, (Heb

4:12)! Join us for this single session study on Saturday, March 21

from 9:00-10:30am in the St. Mary Community Center Cafete-

ria.

For more information about the ministry visit
