Fr. Chris’ Corner March 17, 2020 Dear friends in the Lord, As we make our way through these final weeks of Lent, I can assure you that the Bishop’s decision to suspend all public Masses was not taken lightly. As a priest, it breaks my heart to see this longing for the Lord without being able to physically satisfy the need for the divine. It is my prayer that during this time of holy longing our hunger and love for God may increase and bear tremendous spiritual fruit. Please know that even though public Masses are being suspended, the priests of the Church are still celebrating private
Masses every single day. As Catholics we believe that the whole Church is present at every Mass regardless of who is physically present. Here at St. Teresa of Avila we are going to livestream Mass Monday through Sunday at 10 AM on the main Facebook page. We will livestream Stations of the Cross on Fridays at 6:00 PM. We will also try to livestream adoration at least once a week. The Church will be open throughout the day for private prayer but with the restrictions of social distancing and only 10 people at a time. Café Manna will be restricted to “Grab & Go” meals. If you are not already tuned in to our social media pages or the St. Teresa Email List, I strongly encourage you to sign up on our website saintt.com. We are working tirelessly to continue to serve you as best we can. I know there are still lots of questions and uncertainty but we will navigate those as we learn more. I will still be traveling to anoint those who are sick or dying. Confessions, Funerals and Weddings will have to be in private. I love you and I am very proud of you. We remain united in the body of Christ, and it is through Him that we remain partners in this mission. Your help and support is invaluable so that we can continue to reach out and help those who are in need. If you haven’t already, I want to highly encourage you to sign-up for Online Giving, or to just mail in your support. These times, more than ever, give us the ability to support our ordinary mission as well as our Special Lenten Mission of “Building a House of Hope” with Respite House. The Holy Spirit often works in unexpected ways, and your continued support can help us to continue to bring the truth and love of Christ to so many who will be constantly bombarded with the temptation to walk away from their faith during this time. Visit saintt.com/give to join us in this mission as we continue inviting people into a growing relationship with Christ and His Church. Thank you for your patience and understanding during these times and please know of my prayers for you as we wait in joyful hope. Faithfully yours in the Lord, Fr. Chris Stanish

Stewardship Report
Tithing As individuals we are called to be good and generous stewards with God’s manifold gifts. Tithing is the means whereby we have the opportunity to give thanks to God; with that in mind, the community of St. Teresa of Avila tithes $450 weekly. This week our tithing will be donated to the Diocese of Gary: Catholic Relief Services.

Prayer for Those Addicted Most loving God, we ask your blessing upon all who suffer from addiction. Strengthen them to reach out for help. Enable them to take the first step to recovery. Bless them with the persistence to persevere in the fight to be free. Give courage and hope to their families, drawing them close together in the power of your love, which alone can transform our living. Amen
Building A House of Hope: In conjunction with Peace & Social Justice, we have decided to partner with a local organization in Valparaiso this year called Respite House for our Lenten Project: Building a House of Hope. Together, as a community, we are going to pray, fast, and give alms in order to make a difference in the lives of those recovering from chemical addiction. Each week of Lent we will have a Second Collection after Communion. Thank you for your generosity.
