3rd Sunday of Lent
The second reading for this Sunday reminds us that the pow-er of Jesus, our Crucified Lord is greater than what every culture of that time or any time has to offer. God’s power and wisdom go beyond what we can even imagine. As we listen to the “wisdom” and “power” of the political voices that rule the news airwaves, Paul’s letter to the Corinthians can help us to remember to pay attention to “God’s folly and God’s weakness”. We have much to learn from Christ who looked so foolish and weak and yet all true power was his and is his. How can we confront the false powers of today with God’s folly and weakness which is true power?

[email protected] Cancer Survivors: March 10 The cancer survivors retreat will be a time for survivors to share their stories. Wanda Gibson, a spiritual director and cancer sur-vivor will lead this prayerful day of reflection. Whether you are celebrating one week or twenty years since your cancer experi-ence you are invited to join us in courageous company as we allow our mind, body and spirit to engage, heal, rest and rejoice. For more information contact Cedarbrake at (254) 780-2436 or visit www.cedarbrake.org. Discovering Your True Self: March 21 The retreat will be based on the book by Father Richard Rohr entitled, “The Immortal Diamond.” Deep within us is the true self; however, it has been hidden by who or what we think we should be. We will spend the day identifying the false images we hold on to as we ask the Lord to show us the beauty of our true selves. Bev Collin, assistant director of Cedarbrake, will present this day. For more information contact Cedarbrake at (254) 780-2436 or visit www.cedarbrake.org. Healing through the Heart of Jesus—April 14 The focus will be on our identity as God’s loved ones and on the wounds that prevent us from living that identity. Father Charlie Garza, pastor of St. Martin de Porres Parish in Dripping Springs, will be the presenter. For more information contact Cedarbrake at (254) 780-2436 or visit www.cedarbrake.org.

Special Collection Next Weekend—March 11, 2018 All parishes in the Diocese of Austin will take up a special col-lection for Catholic Relief Services which helps children, wom-en and families around the world. The six worldwide organiza-tions supported by the collection provide immediate humanitari-an aid, pastoral support and disaster relief to our suffering broth-ers and sisters around the globe. This collection offers us an opportunity to help Jesus in disguise. Please give generously to the Catholic Relief Services collection.
Missionary Visit on March 18, 2018 St. Ann has been assigned the Diocese of Mandeville for the 2018 Missionary Cooperative Plan. Reverend Gary Wiesmann will be here at St. Ann on March 18 to preach the mission co-op appeal on behalf of the Diocese of Mandeville, Jamaica as there are many ministerial needs requiring outside funding. Mission appeals are essential to enable priests to evangelize and provide basic dignities to the poor. We look forward to Fr. Gary Wies-mann’s visit.
