The LAB THEATRE project was for the 2010 USITT International Green Theatre Competition, which we placed 2nd. In addition, this project received a 2011 Un-built Merit Award from AIA Las Vegas.
The aim was to create a sustainable theatre while shamelessly exploiting modern technology and preserving and enhancing existing theatre structures already present on the campus of the University of Nevada Las Vegas.

The THEATRE COMPLEX sits at the terminus of a major axis. We wanted to create a place that not only celebrated the arts, but also became a prominent gathering place for the community and a ‘gateway’ of sorts for the university.
The grand ATRIUM LOBBY becomes a gateway to the campus with its views directed down the central mall.
The LAB THEATRE with its technological versatility is able to transform into infinite combinations of floor, wall, ceiling and lighting layouts. Making it the ideal black box.

The NEXUS HOTEL & SPA is a conceptual project located on the Paiute Indian reservation in the Las Vegas valley.
Located within 20 minutes of the Las Vegas strip, this 300+ room resort & spa is envisioned as an escape and respite from the frantic energy that thrives downtown.
The form of the tower was inspired by the local cholla plant’s skeleton. While the overall site plan draws on the traditions and spiritual beliefs of the Paiute tribe, especially those connected to the sacred nature of the circle and the four seasons.

The VILLA GAIA is an exercise in luxury and sustainability. It aims at showing that passive and renewable strategies need not be aesthetically reprehensible!
At around 8,000 square feet, this villa employs cooling towers, passive solar, sun-spaces, water walls and earth tubes to find a near carbon neutral existence within the confines of the Mojave Desert.
Conceptualized along the ideas of major and minor axes and strict adherence to a 4’ x 4’ grid, Villa Gaia becomes an oasis of serenity and order.

This amazing condo at the MANDARIN ORIENTAL is an example of my interior design work. My long-time clients wanted to have a retreat here in Las Vegas that had both a little glitz and a little homage to Asian design.
Most of the furniture and lighting fixtures are my custom designs. Other pieces came from A.Rudin, Dakota Jackson, Maya Romanoff and Donghia.
Finishing the space are custom mirrors, hand-made rugs and commissioned paintings and glass art objects, which add another level of warmth and elegance.

This ALPINE RESIDENCE was designed as a concept house for a couple wanting to break away from the norm of mountain home architecture. They desired an aesthetic that was unique while also incorporating a highly efficient building envelope and passive strategies.
These perspectives show the initial concepts designed for the project, which illustrate some of the passive solar and daylighting strategies.
