speakers will be Senator Tod Bowman and
Representative Andy McKean. They will give
us an update on the Legislative Session.
All Chamber members are invited to attend.

Chamber/JCEA Luncheon
Tuesday, June 20th
12:00 - 1:15 pm at Michels Hall
Maquoketa Chamber and the Jackson County Economic
Alliance will have two short presentations that will be very
beneficial to all. Clinton Community College will share
information on training funds that are available for local
business/industry for current employees.
The second presentation will be by a representative of Iowa
Works to share updated information about the National
Career Readiness Certificate (NCRC). This test helps
identify the skill sets of a potential employee and can
be very useful to employers.
The cost is $10.00 per person. Per Board Policy, people

51st Annual International Woodcarvers Congress Open to the Public - June 15-18, 2017
Pearson Hall, Jackson Co. Fairgrounds
The 51st Annual International Woodcarvers Congress will be held June 12th through the 18th at the Jackson County
Fairgrounds in Maquoketa, Iowa. Once again hundreds of carvings will be submitted into competition to be judged. Carvers will come to Maquoketa from across the United States and abroad to attend seminars taught by some of the best carvers in the country.
June 15-18: The show will be open to the public. Thursday - Saturday from 10am –5pm & Sunday from 10am to 4pm.
There is a cover charge: $5 a day, $4 for seniors or a 3 day pass can be purchased at a discount. Children under 12 get in free with a paying adult.

The Woodcarver’s enjoy supporting our community by
spending their dollars here including shopping and dining. This is an opportunity for our Chamber members to offer a
coupon to entice them into your place of business.
Simple, for example: a discount off of total bill and/or with a purchase limit; a
specific dollar amount off of the total bill; etc.
They usually have around 130 –150 people from all over the United States
and some countries at the show. Please drop off your coupons at the
Chamber office or at the fairgrounds by Friday, June 9th.
