    Objectives & Methodology

    The producers of Marketplace commissioned a survey on Vitamins and Supplements to be included in a

    Marketplace episode to be broadcast in the 2015/16 season. They survey explored consumption of

    vitamins and supplements and general opinions on the associated health benefits

    A series of questions were asked by EKOS in their online panel (Probit) among Anglo Canadians. The

    survey was in field from September 22 to 28, 2015 among a representative sample of 1,080Canadians 18

    years of age or older.

    Seven-in-ten Canadians (69%) believe that taking vitamins or supplements improves their health. Over

    six-in-ten (64%) believe that taking vitamins/supplements helps prevent illness. More than half agree thattaking vitamins/supplements is a good replacement for nutrients missing in their diet (56%). Agreement

    is higher among those who took Vitamins or supplements in the past year.
