FISH BITES The Marlins look to sweep this brief two-game homestand against the Red Sox in game two this afternoon at 4:10 p.m. Left-hander Adam Conley gets the call for Miami, making the second start and sixth appearance of his rookie cam- paign, his first against Boston. Following today’s game, the Marlins have an off-day before embarking on a six-game road trip to St. Louis (August 14-16) and Milwaukee (Aug. 17-19). Tonight’s National Anthem will be performed by Alex Lencina and ceremonial first pitches will be thrown out by Ron Brewer of the Paul & Young Ron Show, Eddie Maldo- nado, and Lieutenant Colonel Leo Gray, a World War II veteran. VS. THE RED SOX Miami snapped a seven-game losing streak to the Red Sox in last night’s series opener, the second-longest skid in Club history against an Interleague opponent. This is the second meeting between the two clubs in 2015, as Miami dropped both games of a two-game set at Fenway on July 7-8. The Marlins are 11-22 all-time against the Red Sox, and have gone 5-8 in South Florida. UP NEXT Miami travels to St. Louis to open a three-game set at Busch Stadium on Friday. The Marlins are 0-3 against the Red- birds this season after suffering a sweep at Marlins Park from June 23-25. The Fish are 8-14 against St. Louis since the beginning of the Miami era, including four straight losses, but have won their last two meetings at Busch Stadium. The Cardinals lead the all-time series, 101-68, and have a 48-36 lead in the Gateway City. LAST NIGHT Miami walked-off with a 5-4 win in 10 innings last night, marking the largest comeback win of the season for the Fish, who trailed 4-0 entering the bottom of the sixth inning. Miami began to chip away in that frame, as J.T. Realmuto led off with a double and Ichiro Suzuki followed with a walk. Realmuto scored two batters later on a ground out by Casey McGehee, and Dee Gordon followed with a two-out RBI single on a 3-2 pitch to drive in Suzuki. A pair of walks and a single opened the bottom of the seventh for Miami, but only one run crossed on a sac fly by Suzuki. The Marlins tied it in the ninth on a sac fly to drive in Realmuto. The walk-off came in the 10 th , when Gordon led off with a triple and scored three batters later on a single by Justin Bour. Justin Nicolino got his third career start for Miami (ND, 5.2 ip, 9 h, 4 er, bb), five relievers combined for 4.1 hitless innings of relief, with the win going to Bryan Morris (4-3). INTERLEAGUE NOTES Miami has posted a 6-10 record in Interleague Play in 2015, with all six wins coming at home, while maintaining the third-best all-time Interleague record among National League teams with a mark of 168-158 (.515). St. Louis leads all NL teams at 154-141 (.522), followed by New York (163-151/.519), though Miami lays claim to the most wins of any NL team. Miami also leads all NL squads in runs scored (1,492), hits (2,904), doubles (590) and RBI (1,413). WALKING OFF Miami recorded its sixth walk-off win of the season last night, its third since July 1. Justin Bour did the honors last night, driving in Dee Gordon with a single in the bottom of the 10 th to break a 4-4 tie. It was Bour’s second career walk-off hit, his other coming on July 1 against San Francisco, a three-run homer that gave the Marlins a 6-5 win in the ninth inning. Miami is tied with Detroit, Colorado, Minnesota, Seattle, and Philadelphia for the fifth-most walk-off wins this season, trailing the Cubs (10); the Angels (9); the White Sox and St. Louis (8 each); the Dodgers, the Mets, and Pittsburgh (7 each). ROOKIE CATCHING ON J.T. Realmuto was 2x5 with a double last night. It was his 16 th double of the season, breaking a tie with Charles Johnson (1995) for the most by a rookie catcher in Club history. Realmuto also recorded his 76 th and 77 th hits of the season, putting him just two behind Johnson (79) for the Club record for hits by a rookie catcher. Johnson also holds the Club mark for most games caught (97), while Realmuto ranks second (81). Among National League rookies this season, Realmuto ranks seventh in average (min. 300 AB) at .249 (77x309), second in triples (5), ninth in doubles, and 10 th in hits. Among all NL catchers, he ranks first in triples, fifth in doubles, sixth in runs scored (36), seventh in games played, tied with Wilson Ramos for eight in hits and tied with Francisco Cervelli and A.J. Pierzynski for eighth in home runs (6), and 11 th in RBI (29). FRESH START Christian Yelich, who was a late scratch from the lineup last night due to a right knee contusion, continues to rebound from a slow start to the season, which included a 16-game stint on the disabled list in April and May due to lower back tightness. Since June 27, Yelich is batting .345 (48x139) in 37 games, with a .413 on-base per- centage. Prior to that date, he was batting .227 (47x207) on the year in 55 games. His average since June 27 ranks third in the National League, behind only Buster Posey (.415) and David Peralta (.362), and his OBP ranks tied for seventh. His average ranks second to Peralta among NL outfielders, and his OBP is fourth, behind Bryce Harper (.448), Peralta (.424), and Andrew McCutchen (.418). EXCLUSIVE COMPANY Ichiro Suzuki recorded career hit #2,910 last night, going 1x2 with a single in the ninth inning. He has 4,188 career hits between Japan (1,278) and MLB, just three hits shy of unofficially tying Ty Cobb’s career hit total. Additionally, Suzuki, who is 38 th on the all-time hits list, is also the active leader in stolen bases (496), ranking 23 rd on the all-time list (since 1898, modern stolen base rule). According to Elias, he would become just the eighth player all-time to reach 2,900 hits and 500 steals, joining Ty Cobb (4,191/901), Honus Wagner (3,430/724), Paul Molitor (3,319/504), Eddie Collins (3,313/743), Rickey Henderson (3,055/1,406), Lou Brock (3,023/938), and Barry Bonds (2,935/514). Earlier this season, Suzuki passed several baseball legends on the all-time hits list, including Babe Ruth (2,873, 43 rd ) and Mel Ott (2,876, 42 nd ). MARLINS VS.
