PENTECOST: THE PROMISE OF THE SPIRIT
The triumph of Christ over evil and
death is what saves us. We must
certainly have a real encounter with the living Christ who sustains us, calls us by
our name, promises to be with us, and feeds us. We can believe and have hope.
We need signs and we have them in abundance.
We can have hope and we should, because we also know how much good exists
around us and how much good is within us that it often surprises us. Whenever
there is joy; when we see the goodness, help, and kindness of others; whenever we are surprised by our own
strength in times of pain and anguish; when we see people and organizations fight for the dignity of others, for
their rights as immigrants, for a quality education and a fair job; when we receive an open and generous
forgiveness; or when we recognize that we are capable of forgiving… this is where we know the presence of the
Spirit and know that life has triumphed over evil and death.
We know we are saved. That is the gift of the spirit poured over the Christian community and over each one of
us. That is our salvation and it is also our message to others.

El triunfo de Cristo sobre el mal y la muerte es lo que nos salva. Ciertamente, debemos

NEW PLAYGROUND NEEDED The current playground at St. Francis Catholic School is
in need of replacement. The slides are broken or cracked
and can no longer be replaced. The cost of a new
playground will be around $45,000. The parish has many
repair projects planned for the next fiscal year and can’t
fit another project of this size into the budget. However,
I am hoping that parishioners might be willing to pledge a one-time donation for
this project so we do not have to wait until next summer to provide our children
with a good, safe playground. If you are willing to pledge money, please contact
Fr. Don with the amount. (641-753-7374) or [email protected]. If
enough is pledged, we will order the equipment and begin collecting the money.

SE NECESITA NUEVO PATIO DE JUEGOS El patio de recreo en la Escuela St. Francis necesita ser reemplazado. Las
resbaladillas están rotas o agrietadas y no pueden ser reemplazadas. El costo de

AVE MARIA STUDY CLUB
The members of Ave Maria Study Club will meet on
Thursday, June 13th (please note day change). We will
meet at St. Mary Church at 12:10p.m. for Mass that will be
said for Anna Mae Wilson, Pat Finch and Mary Oetker,
members we lost in the past year. After Mass we will go to
the Tremont on Main for lunch. Our next meeting will be
in September.

be at 11 am at St. Henry from Monday, June 17-Friday,
