SPEC MIX Polymer Modified Stone VeneerMortar(PMSVM)SPEC MIX Polymer Modified Stone VeneerMortar (PMSVM) is a technically advancedmortar used to bond thin veneer masonryunits toa substrate. It is an ideal solution forarchitects and contractors having projectswith an immediate and ongoing need formortardeliveringhighbondstrengthandsagresistanceduringinstallation.Thenon-sagfor-mulationprovidesexcellentworkability,cohe-
sion, high bond strength, water resistance, efflorescenceminimizationanddurability. Forapplications in which mortar joints are notutilized, such as dry stack applications, SPECMIXPMSVMcanbeusedtogainextrabondstrengthandpop-outprotection.SPEC MIX PMSVM meets the requirements
ofASTMC270forTypeSandNmortar,includ-ingappropriateANSI118.4andACI530shearbondstandards. Ithasbeenrigorouslytestedto reduce the probability of unit "pop-offs"and contractor callbacks to repair failurescommonwithinferiormortars.
COMPOSITION&MATERIALSSPEC MIX Stone Veneer Mortar and PolymerModified Stone Veneer Mortar (PMSVM) aredry, preblended proprietary mixes containingcementitious materials, aggregates and spe-cialadmixturesengineeredtopromoteadhe-sion, reduce shrinkageandmaximizeproductdurability. When specified, a pigment can bepreblendedwitheitherproducttoensurecolorconsistencyineachbag.SPEC MIX products are manufactured
locallyacross theUnitedStatesandCanadaby licensed manufacturers who use special-ized blending equipment and follow strictquality control procedures to meet projectspecifications, contractor expectations andapplicableASTMstandards.
SIZESSPECMIXStoneVeneerMortarsarepackagedin 80 lb (36.3 kg) bags and 3000 lb (1360 kg)
bulkbags.TheycanbeusedwithanySPECMIXmaterialdelivery systemfor increased job siteefficiencyandsafety.
BENEFITS• Highbondstrength• Non-sagperformanceandreducedcracking• Reducedpop-offs,call-backsandrepairs• Resistswaterpenetrationandefflorescence• Preblended with sand to minimize laborandwaste
• Consistentqualitycontrolwitheverybag• Excellentworkabilityandboardlife• State-of-the-artbatchingprocessandstrictqualitycontrolprocedureshelpensurethatthe finished product complies with designandspecificationrequirements
• Batch-to-batch consistency is maintainedusing dried sands to eliminate the bulkingeffect associated with varying moisturewithintheaggregate
• Portable SPEC MIX silos are available topermitconstructioninallclimates
• Pallets and bulk bag containers are com-pletelyreusableandareretrievedwheneveranewloadofmaterialisdeliveredtoasite
• Helpseliminatesandshoveling,heavyliftingand inconsistencies normally associatedwithhandorfieldmixing

2. Add the minimum amount of clean, potablewaterforoptimumworkability
3. Mix for five minutes consistently frombatchtobatch.
4. Tool mortar joints when the surface isthumb-print hard. Keep tooling timesconsistent.
5. Hand mix mortar only with writtenapproval by the specifier who shouldoutlineprocedures.
6. Use mortar within 2.5 hours after initialmixing.
7. Retemper mortar only when mixingwaterislostduetoevaporation.
8. Donotretempercoloredmortar.
