We are now in our Easter Season as our Lenten season has come to an end with the beginning of The Triduum. On Tuesday our Bishop Michael Olson celebrated with his priests and parishioners The Chrism Mass. This is done every year and is where we get our 3 anointing oils. “Lent comes to an end before the evening Mass of the Lord’s Supper on Holy Thursday, which inaugurates the Easter Triduum—the three days which form the pinnacle of the Church year: “Christ redeemed us all and gave perfect glory to God principally through his paschal mystery: dying he destroyed our death and rising he restored our life. Therefore the Easter Triduum of the passion and resurrection of Christ is the culmination of the entire liturgical year.”—General Norms for the Liturgical Year and the Calendar These three days witness the most exalted liturgical celebrations of the year and recall the passion, death and resurrection of Christ.” In our Catechism we read: Paragraph 2. ON THE THIRD DAY HE ROSE FROM THE DEAD "We bring you the good news that what God promised to the fathers, this day he has fulfilled to us their children by raising Jesus." The Resurrection of Jesus is the crowning truth of our faith in Christ, a faith believed and lived as the central truth by the first Christian community; handed on as fundamental by Tradition; established by the documents of the New Testament; and preached as an essential part of the Paschal mystery along with the cross:
Christ is risen from the dead! Dying, he conquered death;
To the dead, he has given life.
Rejoice, Rejoice, my Sisters and Brothers for what has been prophesied in The Old Testament and Fulfilled in The New is now reality, that through Jesus Christ our Salvation has been won.
Have a Blessed Easter season and may God’s Peace be with you all, Fr. John W. Martin
