Anointing of the Sick is the sacrament that is received by those who are ill or suffering. By the sacred anointing and the prayer of the priest, the whole Church commends those who are sick to Christ. The sick person receives the Holy Spirit’s gifts of strength, faith, peace, and courage, and his or her suffering is united with the suffering of Christ for the building up of the Church.” (Catechism of the Catholic Church nos. 1520-23) So, if you wish to arrange for the Anointing of the Sick for yourself or a loved one, or before or during a hospital stay/surgery for yourself or another, please call the parish office at 508 867-6469. Remember, this sacrament is not reserved only for those who are near death, but for anyone who may be ill or suffering. Our Partners in Charity Goal is Within Striking Distance!! We finally received an update on direct & online donations, and thanks to the generosity of six additional donors, we are now at $31,117! We need only $1,883 to reach our goal. Pope Francis's Apostolic Exhortation “The Joy of Love” Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St. Worcester

Monday, July 25 at 6:30 p.m.

What is Amoris Laetitia, the Holy Father's new document? Why did it cause controversy for some people when it was released? What is Pope Francis's vision for marriage, the family, and the Church for the future?

Dr. Christopher Klofft, Professor of Theology at Assumption College and parishioner of Immaculate Conception in Worcester will explain this important and beautiful Apostolic Exhortation. The presentation will take place in the Church Basement. All are invited, and feel free to invite others. Cost is free and refreshments will be served.

Year of Mercy Local Pilgrimage Friday, August 19th

Bishop McManus will lead a pilgrimage to the Divine Mercy Shrine in Stockbridge, MA. The diocesan bus will leave Immaculate Conception Church, 353 Grove St., Worcester at 8:15 am and will return at approximately 6:30 pm. The Bishop will say Mass in the Shrine church at 11:00 am. We will say the chaplet of Divine Mercy and confessions will be available. Pilgrims are welcome to provide their own transportation and meet us there. Pilgrims should bring their own picnic lunches as there are no cafeterias onsite. Seats on the diocesan busses are $10. contact: [email protected] or call 508-929-4345.

REGISTRATION FOR GRADES 1-9 (There will be no Confirmation Class this year.)

SUNDAY AUGUST 21 & 28

PARISH CENTER (SCHOOL) 9:00 AM – 12:30 PM

In order to register your child in the OLSH Religious Education Program, you MUST be a registered member of OLSH Parish.

Forms will be available at registration, if needed.

~Tuition: $45 for 1 child, $55 for a family~ If you are registering your child for the first time, and he/she was NOT baptized at Sacred Heart or St. Mary’s, please bring a copy of

the baptismal certificate.

In accordance with Diocesan guidelines, any child preparing to receive First Penance, First Holy Communion, or Confirmation this year MUST attend the preparation classes offered by our

Parish. No exceptions will be made for home-schooled or Catholic School students.

In order to attend 1st grade Religious Education class, your child MUST be in the first grade at school.

NOTE: Registration will be CLOSED after these August dates. We will not accept registrations on the first day of class. Thank you.

Parish Sympathies Please pray for the repose of the soul of Joseph Bene who died July 5th at the age of 71. His funeral Mass was celebrated at Sacred Heart on July 9th. May the Lord grant comfort and strength to his wife Eileen, & family.

Baptismal Blessings On July 17th we celebrated the baptism of Margaret Lynn Arsenault. Congratulations and best wishes for a lifetime of happiness and holiness for her and her parents Jeffrey & Heather, and her brother Jack.
