Dear Friends of Holy Spirit I returned home from Honduras on Monday evening with the other eleven Holy Spirit travelers: Marilyn Hess, John and Kathy Evans, Jim and Carol Shavers, Doris Daves, Chris Brokaw, Kathy White, Eduardo Parada, Kathy Lawrence and Penny Eisenhut. I think all would agree that this was a spiritual journey for us with our hearts being uplifted by the people we meet, the Masses that we participated in, and the work that we did. This trip has a particular focus: eyeglasses. Going through the Lions Club, we took down 2,000 pairs of glasses (our cost was $0.25 each) and 150 readers (our cost $0.50 each) and 150 sunglasses (our cost $$0.50 each). Using some amazing equipment, several of our members were able to “read” the eyes of each person and obtain a prescription which was then passed on for adjustment and fitting. We distributed close to 500 pairs of glasses. It was quite a blessing to be able to help people whose sight was very poor, especially the young. Watching their faces and hearing the sincerity of their “thank yous” was the greatest blessing we could have received. My Spanish is very poor, but sometimes words were not needed. It’s good to be home! I heard Fr. Chris gave a great homily last week! I guess I’ll listen to it on the website! God’s Blessings and Love, Fr. Paul

NOVENA OUR LADY OF LOURDES

To be prayed Feb 2-10, Feast Day February 11

O ever Immaculate Virgin, Mother of Mercy, Health of the Sick, Refuge of Sinners, Comfort to the Afflicted, you know my needs, troubles, and sufferings. Cast upon me a look of mercy. Your appearance in the Grotto of Lourdes made it a privileged sanctuary where you dispense your favors. Many sufferers have obtained a cure of their infirmities and help in their needs both spiritual and corporal. I ask with complete confidence your maternal intercession. Obtain O living Moth-er, the granting of my requests. (Mention your needs.) In grati-tude I will strive to imitate your virtues that I too, may one day share your glory. Our Lady of Lourdes, pray for us. Amen.

(Pray on Our Father, Hail Mary, and Glory Be.)
