Welcome to our Parish!

OUR MISSION

Annunciation hearts are burning to know, love and serve God

by loving and serving others.

Christ Is Risen! “Why do you seek the living one

among the dead?

He is not here, but he has been raised.

Remember what he said to you

while he was still in Galilee,

that the Son of Man must be handed

over to sinners and be crucified,

and rise on the third day.”

Luke 24: 5-7

Stewardship Reflections - March 24th

Our reflection on the Easter readings may be as profound as any

throughout the liturgical year. Stewards understand that this life is

merely a prelude to the next life — that is why they live as stewards.

They recognize that what they seek is a heavenly reward, not an

earthly one. Thus the question they must ask is not “What is in this

for me?” The question the good steward asks is, “How can I serve?”

We are called to be an Easter people. There is a significant

difference between being an Easter people and just a Church people.

If we are truly an Easter people, our focus is on the victory which

Christ’s Resurrection presents to us.

Easter and the promise it presents us make us a joyful people, who

worship with a sense of hope and confidence. Easter people as good

stewards live their lives with an attitude of gratitude, not a sense of

obligation. Easter people do not fear death, but have comfort in the

promises and salvation of Christ. www.thecatholicsteward.com

Vocation Blessing Cup Update: During Holy Week of 2012, Father Stephen Parkes introduced the

Vocation Blessing Cup to our Annunciation parishioners at the Mass of the Lord's Supper on Holy

Thursday evening. Over 250 households showed an interest in hosting the cups in their homes by

signing up during our "Sign-up Weekend." During this past year, many others also offered to host, and

we sincerely thank everyone who has done this! If you have not yet been called, please do not think

that you have been forgotten. Since the Vocation Blessing Cups have been circulating, the Cups have

been hosted in 148 homes. We appreciate the patience of those who are still waiting for their turn.

We will have another Sign-up Weekend on the weekend of April 6-7. If you are interested in

hosting the Vocation Blessing Cup in your home, please fill out a form at that time. If you have already

turned in a form, you do not need to sign another one. You may also sign up through the Parish Office

or by calling Bob and Cheryl Nettles at 407-297-1852. Thank you for your interest in promoting

Dear Friends in Christ,

Christ is Risen! Alleluia! Alleluia! Happy Easter! Thank you for your presence and prayers as we

celebrate this special feast. I especially extend a warm welcome to anyone who is visiting with us from

other places or faith backgrounds. As we gather today on the holy ground of our parish campus, we

celebrate the beautiful gift of life that God has blessed each of us with. If you are with us today but do not

worship with our community on a regular basis, I welcome you home to the Catholic Church and extend an

invitation to visit with one of the Priests, Religious Sisters or Staff to answer any questions you may have

about our faith. We are here to serve you and to guide you in the journey of the beauty of our faith.

During the Easter Season we focus on celebrations of the Sacraments of Initiation. At our Vigil Mass we

welcome 6 new Catholics into our parish family and others will be joining us in Full Communion in May. In a few weeks we

will be celebrating First Eucharist with the children of our parish and every weekend we celebrate the gift of baptism. Today

after all of the Masses and in honor of the Year of Faith, we have a special gift of a holy water bottle for you to take home as a

reminder of your own baptism and entrance into the Church. Water is necessary for life to be sustained and flourish. Through

the Sacrament of Baptism we are introduced into a life of faith and an amazing journey with the Lord. I pray that as we

continue to walk together towards a personal and intimate relationship with Christ, we may grow towards embracing a heart

that is burning to know, love and serve God by loving and serving others. Is your heart burning?

Thank you also for your patience as we continue through the process of construction on our campus. The new driveway and

drop off is almost complete and will be a great help to our parishioners with special needs. The parking lot on the west side of

the church building is complete and you are welcome to park there on the weekends. After the 6:30am Sunrise Mass we will be

taking a walk around the track and field for the first time. This is a soft opening as we are visioning the use of the field as well

as preparing guidelines for its use. Once again… your patience is appreciated!

I pray that you and your loved ones have a blessed Easter! When you come before the Lord, please pray for me, for the other

Priests who serve our parish, for our Religious Sisters- the Servants of the Pierced Hearts of Jesus and Mary, and for our Staff.

Know that we will pray for you, your loved ones and your intentions. We may not see each other each day but may we meet

each day in our prayers!

In Christ,

Very Rev. Stephen D. Parkes, V.F.

Pastor

- Leading Teens Closer to Christ

Divine Mercy Sunday - April 7th Please join us from 2pm to 4pm in our Church for this special devotion.

Divine Mercy Sunday: St. Faustina’s Diary records 14 occasions when Jesus requested

that a Feast of Mercy (Divine Mercy Sunday) be observed, for example:

My daughter, tell the whole world about My inconceivable mercy. I desire that the

Feast of Mercy be a refuge and shelter for all souls, and especially for poor

sinners. On that day the very depths of My tender mercy are open... The soul that

will go to Confession and receive Holy Communion shall obtain complete

forgiveness of sins and punishment. … Let no soul fear to draw near to Me. … It is

My desire that it be solemnly celebrated on the first Sunday after Easter. Mankind

will not have peace until it turns to the Fount of My Mercy. (Diary, no. 699)

On May 5, 2000, five days after the canonization of St. Faustina, the Vatican decreed that

the Second Sunday of Easter would henceforth be known as Divine Mercy Sunday.

The Image: Jesus appeared to St. Faustina in a vision, with his right hand raised in a blessing and his left touching his

garment above his heart. Red and white rays emanate from his heart, symbolizing the blood and water that was poured

out for our salvation and our sanctification. The Lord requested that “Jesus, I trust in You” be inscribed under his image.

Jesus asked that his image be painted and venerated throughout the world: “I promise that the soul that will venerate this

image will not perish” (Diary, no. 48) and “By means of this image I will grant many graces to souls” (Diary, no. 742).

The Chaplet of Divine Mercy: The Chaplet was also given to St. Faustina with this promise: “Encourage souls to say

the chaplet which I have given you” (Diary, no. 1541). “Whoever will recite it will receive great mercy at the hour of

death. … Even if there were a sinner most hardened, if he were to recite this chaplet only once, he would receive grace

from My infinite mercy. I desire that the whole world know My infinite mercy” (Diary, no. 687).

“My past, O Lord, to Your mercy; my present, to Your

love; my future to Your providence.” ― Padre Pio

The U.S. Catholic bishops have launched a pastoral strategy addressing critical life,

marriage and religious liberty concerns. The overall focus is to invite Catholics to

pray for rebuilding a culture favorable to life and marriage and for increased

protections of religious liberty.

Campaign components include monthly Eucharistic holy hours in cathedrals and

parishes, daily family rosary, special Prayers of the Faithful at all Masses, fasting

and abstinence on Fridays, and the second observance of a Fortnight for Freedom.

The call to prayer is prompted by the rapid social movements and policy changes

currently underway, such as the mandate by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services that coerces employers,

including heads of religious agencies, to pay for sterilizations, abortion-inducing drugs and contraceptives, as well as increased

efforts to redefine marriage. "The pastoral strategy is essentially a call and encouragement to prayer and sacrifice—it's meant

to be simple," said Archbishop Salvatore Cordileone of San Francisco, chairman of the bishops' Subcommittee for the

Promotion and Defense of Marriage. "It's not meant to be another program but rather part of a movement for Life, Marriage,

and Religious Liberty, which engages the New Evangelization and can be incorporated into the Year of Faith. Life, Marriage,

and Religious Liberty are not only foundational to Catholic social teaching but also fundamental to the good of society," he

said. A website with resources from the USCCB is available at: www.usccb.org/life-marriage-liberty.

"With the challenges this country is

facing, it is hoped that this call to

prayer and penance will help build

awareness among the faithful as well as

spiritual stamina and courage for

effective witness. We also hope that it

will encourage solidarity with all people

who are standing for the precious gifts

of life, marriage, and religious liberty."

Archbishop Cordileone
