The journey of the wise men or magi is one of the fa-vorite stories of the gospel. It is a story of the journey of life, of guidance on the way, of delight in finding faith and God, of the intrigue of a greedy and jealous king, and of the good beating the bad. We like the end of the story when the wise men outwitted Herod.

The star started them on the journey and then guided them to the end. Like our faith, the star which shone at our baptism is the promise of God to guide us through life. Faith grows through the ordi-nary events of life. What can seem ordinary happenings can be extraordinary grace – the birth of a child in your family, becoming a grandpar-ent, an aunt, an uncle, the first time you fall in love, the people you meet who make a big difference in your life, success in a job, anything creative in your life is a gift of grace from God.

The presence of your star may strike you on a retreat and you learned to pray, a time you felt in vocation or any other way you really helped some people, or really listening and talking with someone and you realize you are not the only one in life with problems.

At bad times when the star seemed dim but people helped – bereavement, crime in the family, addiction to drugs or drink, involved in suicide or abuse, illness – all the small and big awful things that darken life and dim the star. But still can you ask then – what was and what is your star? The light of faith is bright in the good and bad times of life. The word of God and the help of an-other is the star lighting your journey.

Each of us has our own personal star guiding us – the star of prayer, love, friendship, support…the star has a different name at different times. Be grateful for your star – and be grateful that you have been a star for oth-ers. In the book of God, each of us is a star.

El viaje de los sabios o magos es una de las historias favori-tas del evangelio. Es una historia del viaje de la vida, de la guía en el camino, del deleite de encontrar a la fe y de Dios, de la intriga de un rey codicioso y celoso, y de los buenos que vencen a los malos. Nos gusta el final de la historia cuando los hombres sabios burlaron a Herodes. La estrella los inició en el viaje y luego los guio hasta el fi-nal. Al igual que nuestra fe, la estrella que brilló en nuestro bautismo es la promesa de Dios de guiarnos a través de la

morning services every Sunday and it is located

at the exit of the church on the Placita side.

Help children communicate

When children express that something is wrong at school or with other activities, it's often the job of caregivers to read between the lines to determine what's really going on. They might say "I'm bored" and need your guidance finding a better school-life balance or engaging in more challenging academic work. Ask them to give examples and to help you understand what is going on. If the child is still being vague, remind them that they can tell you anything and that you'll listen with an open mind. As parents and care-givers, you have the opportunity to help kids deal well with negative feelings and challenges. And, if they are be-ing mistreated in some way, keeping an open line of com-munication with kids will enable you to be their advocate.

Ayude a comunicarse con los niños Cuando los niños expresan que algo está mal en la es-cuela o con otras actividades, a menudo es tarea de los cuidadores leer entre líneas para entender lo que real-mente está pasando. Caminamos con Jesús a través de la oración del rosario. Invitamos a todos los

caballeros que les gustaría rezar el rosario, que se unan con nosotros a caminar con

Jesús, todos los primeros miércoles del mes en el salón Guadalupe de 7:00 pm a

9:00 pm. Todos son bienvenidos.

cordar a un ser querido ya sea por su fallecimiento,

cumpleaños, sanación, acción de gracias, o cualquier

ocasión que sea. Llama o ven a la oficina para pedir una

intención de Misa. Gracias por dar la donación sugerida
