PALS conducts Innovation Challenge Competition, InnoWAH to recognize promising young innovators in the Participating Institu-tions of PALS. �e theme for 2017 was “Conservation of Natural Resources through Application of Engineering/Technology.” A total of 30 teams registered for the competition. �e MAMCET mechanical team worked on the project - Automatic Water �ow Governor for rice grinder under the guidance of industry mentor Mr. Shankar K. Sarpate, Dy GM - Engineering, Gamesa and faculty mentor Mr. Ravichandran/Mech.�e MAMCET civil team worked on the project arti�cial aquatic wet land under the guidance of their faculty Dr. G. Vani and Dr. K. Sasiekalaa, HOD/Civil and industry mentor Mr. Meenakshisunda-ram, M. Tech, Chief Electrical Engineer, Power Gear Pvt. Ltd.Exhibition and Competition Finals was held on 28th February, 2017. �e two selected teams from MAMCET, Trichy participated in PALS Young Innovator's competition and exhibition 2017 - InnoWAH along with the 12 other contestants from various colleges at IIT Madras.�e team comprising of M. Shahabudeen, P. Kiruthiga, N. Venkate-san & R. Sunil Sundhar showcased their arti�cial aquatic wetland project at the competition and were awarded the First Prize for their innovative idea. �e award was handed over to the winning team by the Senior Scientist of TCS Innovation Lab, Dr. Arun Vasan.

Abdul Rahman, G. Adarsh, R. Haridevan, M. Mohamed Asik, R. Nickle, R. Pradeep Pre final year mechanical students participated in internship at India Cements Ltd. Dalavoi, Perambalur from June 12 -16, 2017. A team from Civil Engineering department will be undergoing internship at the beginning of July.

8 students of Mechanical Engineering and 5 students from EEE participated in a 6 day - Industrial visit and Training Program at JSW Energy Centre of Excellence OPJ Centre, Toranagallu P.O.-583 123 Ballari Dist., Karnataka, India from 12.6.2017 to 17.6.2017. Students learnt about the working of a Thermal Power Station and with the actual components involved in the power generation process. JSWECE is established by JSW Energy Limited and situated in the sprawling campus of O P Jindal Centre. JSWEL is having total installed capacity of 4,440MW and at Vijaynagar, it is having units of 4X300MW and 2x130MW coal/gas fired thermal power stations

4. Irrigation Management Training Institute (IMTI), Trichy 620015.A batch of 14 third year Civil Engineering students from M.A.M. College of Engineering and Technology underwent intern-ship in IMTI in order to have industrial and research exposure from June 21 to 30, 2017.

5. UltraTech Cement Limited, Unit: Reddipalayam Cement WorksVijayakumar, third year Mechanical Engineering student under went In-plant Training starting from June 14 to 30, 2017.

6. Shree Renga Polymers, Karur.Two teams completed 3 months internships at Shree Renga Polymers through PALS in June 2017. MAMCET Civil team completed a project on “Use of PET waste in �bre to make tiles, bricks and plastering material” - M Sangeetha & V.Pri-ya (III Year Civil) and Faculty adviser Mr. Ananthakumar (AP/Civil) successfully presented the project to the Management of Shree Renga Polymers. MAMCET Electrical and Electronics team completed phase I of the project “Converting relay contractor logic to PLC for Tow Can operation and Dosing Unit” at Shree Renga Polymers - S. Vigneshwaran, N. Sanjai III year EEE along with faculty Adviser- Mrs. Rakkammal have been asked to continue and complete phase II of the project in the next semester.7. L& T Rubber Processing Machinery, Chennai

K and Maria Jency Final year ECE students (MAMCET) mentored by Prof. Buhari/HOD/ECE successfully completed the internship with project – “Control system for single oil hydraulic system for 32 hydraulic tyre curing processes” at L&T Rubber Processing Machinery in January 2017 after a presentation to the technical team there.

MAMCET students competed two projects for Gamesa, Chennai from Oct 1, 2016 to Jan 31, 2017. “Anti-�eft Wind Farm Security Detection System” was the project done by L.Naresh,(IV BE MECH), M.S.Parameshwaran, (IV BE MECH), Gowri S (IV BE ECE), Hemalatha R, (IV BE ECE), and “Power Generation Using Piezoelectric Sensors �rough Vibrations in Vehicles” was the project done by Sasikala.B (IV BE ECE), Gayathri , Narayini T (IV BE ECE), and M.A.Mohamed Riyaz, (IV BE MECH) during their internship through PALS at Gamesa for 4 months. �e teams were mentored by Prof. Karpoora Sundari /ECE and Mr.F. C Vijay Chinnasamy , Assistant Manager, Gamesa wind turbines Pvt. Ltd., Chennai and made a �nal presentation on February 14, 2017 at Gamesa, Chennai and were certi�ed.

Shanu Francis, S. Oreste, S. Sudhan Sailandhar and B. Rakesh �nal year Mechanical Engineering students underwent intern-ship at Velmurugan Industries Pvt. Ltd. in the month of December 2016.

Internship courses were o�ered by CCIRD, MAMCET for I year BE students during summer. Short Term Internship Course on PC Hardware and Networking (May 30, 31, 2017), Python Programming (June 1, 2, 2017) and IOT (June 3, 4, 2017) was conducted. About 30 I year Engineering students from CSE, IT, ECE and EEE departments learnt signi�cant technological advancements with hands on practice. Mr. Arun Pandiyan and Mr. Mohamd Wasim, CCIRD were the coordinators of the course.

Paid InternshipShree Balaji, I year ECE has bagged Internship from June 15 to September 15, 2017 after clearing three rounds of selec-tion at Intellify-IIT Delhi - intellify is a non-pro�t organization ( a body made of students and alumni of IIT Delhi and DTU) which in collaboration with SIC, IIT Delhi is organizing International Science and Creativity Olympiad-2017. He had applied through Internshala.

PALs three days 'THINK CREATE ENGINEER' workshop @ IIT Madras

Mr. A. Ananthakumar, Civil, Mr. U. Manikandan, Civil, Mrs. V. Bhuvana, EEE and Ms. S. Selvi, EEE visited Shree Renga Polymers, Karur through PALS on November 30, 2016. Shree Renga Polymers is a manufacturer of Recycled Polyester �ber from PET bottle �akes. �ey were briefed about the pet manufacturing process and taken to the recycling unit. Later they visited the polyester staple �ber plant.

'Mahindra Research Valley'Mr. J. Jeyakumar AP/Mech and Mr. A. Mohankumar AP/Mech visited Mahendra Research Valley, Chennai on November 24, 2016. �ey attend-ed a brie�ng about Mahendra research Valley and visited the di�erent laboratories there.

Mr. C. Sasidharan, Mr. R. Anandan and Mr. K. N. Prabahar from Mechanical Department visited Wheels India Limited, Padi, Chennai 600050. �e industrial visit started with the Presentation about the Company followed by Technical presentation. �ey visited the plant and saw the design, development and production of wheels.

Amman Try Steels Pvt Ltd. �ird-year Mechanical Students visit-ed Amma Try Steels Pvt. Ltd unit at Fathima Naagr, Trichy on 17.02.17. It was an eye-opener for the students giving them exposure to the manu-facturing sector.

GK industries Pvt. LtdMechanical Students visited GK industries Pvt. Ltd. At Siruganur on 28.01.2017. �e purpose was to expose the students to the industry.

MAMCET students participated in the 'THINK CREATE ENGINEER' Students Residential Workshop from Dec. 15 - 17, 2016 conducted by PALS, J.Hemprithy, III Year CSE, J.Suresh Prabhu, II year ECE, R. Sunil Sundar-II year Civil Vininder Singh Daniel, III year Civil, Kamaraja M, II year EEE, S. Palani Manickam, II year Mech and . S.V. Sujith, II year Mech. Ms. P. Divya-AP/ECE was the faculty who partici-pated with the students. �e workshop enabled them to change their perception on Engineering education, intro-duced them to six thinking hats concept and was an eye opener to all.

Praveen Kumar, IT and Mr. Syed Sha� S, ECE participated in the CSE Department Visit at the IIT M Campus on Nov. 25, 2016. �e title of the Program was "Research Talks from IITM CSE Faculty." Welcome talk was by Prof. Krishna Sivalingam/HoD CSE, Prof. C. Panduran-gan, Prof. B. Ravindran, Prof. D. Janakiram, Prof. N. V. Krish-na talked about their research and they visited the Lab & learnt the setting Up BOSSMOOL Lab in colleges by Mr. Madhusudan Rao, DOS Lab.

Electrical Department Visit at IITM (PALS) Mrs. A. Mary Beula,Asso. Prof/EEE and Ms. R.S. Priyaa Dharshini,Asst. Prof/EEE participated in the Electri-cal Department visit @ IITM on 10.11.2016 initiated through PALS. It started with a presentation about the department by Prof. Harishankar Ramachandran, Head of the Department, Electrical Engineering, IIT Madras. �is was followed by a visit to the Electrical Engineering labs. Prof. Kalyan Kumar and Prof. Krishna discussed about the Power systems, Prof. Kamelesh and Prof. Srirama explained the Machines Lab, Prof. Lakshmi and Prof. Kamalesh showed Power Electronics and Drives lab, Prof. Bharath explained and showed the Control Engi-neering lab and Prof. Boby George explained in the Instrumenta-tion lab.

PALS FDP at IIT MadrasPALS FDP at IIT Madras was held from 9th to 11th November, 2016. Mr. R. Anandan - AP/Mech , Ms. J. Joncy - AP/CSE, Mr. Gokulraj D - AP/Civil, and Mr. .Manikandan U - AP/Civil partici-pated. Day1 and Day2 events were conducted by the IITM Teach-ing and Learning Center Core Faculty in FDP.

On Day 1: Mr. Edammana Prasad, IIT Madras explained about the importance of Learning Outcomes and how to write e�ective Learning outcomes for course subjects and discussed how to improve learning of students through interactive and collabora-tive learning.

On Jan 20th, Friday, PALS (PAN IIT Leadership Series) conducted a special technical session by L&T machinery at NIT Trichy, EEE Audi-torium on the topic "Rubber sheet conveying for Tire building" About 35 participants - faculty and students from the departments of Mechanical, EEE and ECE of MAMCET attended the lecture which was in detail about the rubber sheets conveying process for tire building. MAMCET PALS Club for Competitive Exams MAMCET PALS Club for Competitive Exams was inaugu-rated by the Chief Guest, Mr. Jagadhees �irumoorthy , Marine Engineer on 25.1.2017 in Newton Hall at 3.00p.m He talked about goals and the ways and means of achieving the goals. He said that he is from Dalmiapuram a small town midway between Trichy and Ariyalur. He moved to Chennai to pursue Marine Engineering degree at Chennai School of Ship Management. He joined Wallem Ship management, a Hongkong based company in 2011 and started sailing as a junior engineer. He cleared competitive exams (MEO class 4) in his �eld conducted by the Directorate General of Ship-ping, Govt of India. Over the years, he has been promoted to the level of third engineer in the hierarchy of engineers in Merchant Navy. He said that he reads a lot books, mostly related to personal development. Training on ANSYS FEAANSYS Finite Element Analysis training was conducted by ANSYS at our college from February 21 to 23, 2017 for students and Feb 24 and 25, 2017 for faculty. �e workshop was conducted for 77 students (44 from Civil Department and 33 from Mechanical Department) and 24 faculty and executed by Mr. Nirmal Kumar Balaguru and Mr. Ganesh Chakravarthi, Application Engineers, Ark Info Solutions Pvt Ltd. Students and faculty were introduced to ANSYS FEA with hands on practice.

One day Workshop on “ Teaching - The New Normal ” One Day workshop on “Teaching – �e New Normal” by Mr.George Koshi, Lead Professional Skills Development, ETA, INFOSYS Chennai was conducted on May 6, 2017. 31 faculty participat-ed in this one day workshop out of which 26 were from various departments of MAMCET and 5 were from MAMSA. Mr. George Koshi started the session with an introduction of the teaching practices and went on to elabo-rate on the methods to handle students and he explained about the skill sets needed for the educators. After lunch the second session was about “who am I” and he explained about the various types of personalities of individuals. �e workshop ended with the feedback and group photos session.

Training of Trainers Program of IESC and NSDC

Infrastructure Equipment Skill Council (IESC) and National Skill Development Corporation (NSDC) jointly organized Training of Trainers Program at M.A.M. College of Engineering and Technolo-gy on Feb 2 and 3. 2017. �e Resource person for the certi�cation program was Col. Krishna Vijay, Director Standards and QA, Infra-structure Equipment Skill Council, Bengaluru. Dr. M. A. Maluk Mohamed, Director and Correspondent inaugurated the training on Feb 2 and explained the necessity of skill training in India at this juncture and asked the faculty to make use of the opportunity. Two faculty from Rathinam Technical Institutions, Coimbatore also participated. Mr. Maheshwaran, Mr. Joseph Manickam, Mr. Baskar and Mr. Jeyakumar (Mechanical faculty) were certi�ed as trainers at the end of the program in Hydraulics Mechanics train-ing and Wheel loader operators Training.

ESDM TrainingOne batch of students have completed the Electronics System Design Manu-facturing course and been certi�ed by NIELIT on “Assembly and Mainte-nance of PC.” after writing exam on Feb15, 2017. A batch of students underwent training on “ Mobile Phone hardware Repair Techni-cian and have written exam for certi�cation on June 21, 2017.

Train the Trainers Program for Proficiency in English

Training Program for faculties of various colleges on "Pro�ciency in English" organized by THADCO & ICT academy was hosted at MAMCET on 02-06-2017. �ese trainers were trained to train Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare School Teachers from various parts of Trichy.

�e program organized by THADCO, Govern-ment of Tamilnadu & ICT Academy was hosted at MAMCET from 05-06.2017 to 09.06.2017. Adi Dravidar and Tribal Welfare School Teachers from various places around Trichirappalli Dt. took part in this training Program and enhanced their verbal teaching skills and teaching aptitude.
