• Availability is critical but what is it defined as and how do components affect a service availability are just as important.
• Performance: just because it is available does not mean it's meeting service level objectives due to poor Performance.
• Alerts: how they fit in to the Overall health and how to avoid flooding yet not miss important alerts.

• The application maybe available but the performance maybe bad so the service is NOT Healthy

• Availability != Performance
• Higher Availability may negatively impact Performance. E.g. redundancy overhead such as horizontal scaling, replication
• Higher Performance may come at a cost of lower Availability. E.g. few large nodes may reduce redundancy of service

• No Alerts = Healthy ??
• No Alerts != Healthy
• But also Alerts != Unhealthy
• Some alerts indicate current status or status changes, so they are needed and actually healthy
• Sometimes NO alerts may mean something is wrong, e.g. collectors down, thresholds?
