The masthead of a music magazine can be one of its most important selling points. It can reflect the musical style or genre the magazine is specific to and can determine the target audience. When thinking of the title of my magazine, I tried to think of ones that were within the lexical field of music, or words associated with music. As my magazine is specific to RnB I wanted a masthead that would represent the music and artists within this genre; I

came up with, Amplified, Sound Control and Urban Edge. I chose Amplified as it is within the lexical field of music culture and means ‘making things bigger’.
