DRINKING WATER FOR ALLMATCHING GRANT 78791RAMOS ARIZPE

This project is the second stage to provide safe-drinking water for school children at low income public schools in the municipality of Ramos Arizpe, in the state of Coahuila Mexico.

The long term goal of the club is to provide water purification systems to all elementary and secondary (jr high school) schools in the municipality.

ABSTRACT

LOCATION

Ramos Arizpe is part of Saltillo’s metro area. It is an industrial city and it’s home to major players like GM, Chrysler, DeAcero, Magna, Arysta Lifescience, Whirlpool, etc., with more than 76,000 inhabitants mostly in the urban area, it has a lot of small rural communities.

With this grant, we installed 8 plants, 3 of them in the rural area and 5 in the city.

- Secondary School (jr High School)-2 shifts: morning and evening-660 students (460 morning /200 evening)

ESCUELA SECUNDARIA #1RUBEN H. MOREIRA FLORES

-This system is in rural community “Hipólito” 50 miles from the city.-The system is installed at the Secondary School, but they refill water bottles to nearby Elementary (free) and the PTA refills bottles to town’s inhabitants, as there is no water service in town (387 inhabitants)

SECUNDARIA TECNICA # 65, SANTIAGO RODRIGUEZ DEL BOSQUE.

-This secondary school has 2 shifts with 902 students, 513 in the morning and 389 in the evening.-The parents’ association helped to install the system and they bought water faucets to provide better service

SECUNDARIA TECNICA JOSE LAZARO VAZQUEZ

-This secondary school is located at Paredón community, 50 miles from the city. The school has 120 students, and the town has 1165 inhabitants-This water system will refill water bottles to nearby elementary school.

SECUNDARIA TECNICA # 21 LORENZO DUARTE GARCIA

-This elementary school is located at Fraustro community, 45 miles from the city. The school has 40students, and the town has 139 inhabitants-This water system will refill water bottles to town’s inhabitants as there’s no water service in town

PRIMARIA JOSE MARIA MORELOS

-This elementary school has 838 students in 2 shifts, 408 in the morning and 430 in the afternoon- It is located in the urban area in a low income neighborhood

-This elementary school has 985 students in 2 shifts, 505 in the morning and 480 in the afternoon- It is located in the urban area
