Hello Everyone and welcome to Week 5! Almost half way through the term already … where has the time gone? The weeks seem to last for about 2 days. I think it’s because we are all so busy and working so hard that the time flies past in a blink!! What a wonderful PBL excursion the 2 Senior Classes had last Friday. The children and the adults all had a wonderful time at Lazer Force and as it would be expected, on a behavioural awards day, the children were so beautifully mannered and well behaved. Well done to those that continue to make these fantastic choices! In the classroom, we have been learning the meanings of all sorts of funny words … nouns, proper nouns, adjectives, procedural writing and recounts. Mr Salisbury has been working up a storm. During Maths lessons we are attempting to get really fast at recalling our numbers that add to ten. We have also been looking at Area and working out how we can measure a large space quickly. Learning is always much more fun when it is ‘hands on!’ Our two Achievement Awards went to Ciera and Wayne. Ciera is trying hard to improve her Reading and Writing and Wayne continually has a very positive attitude towards both his work and social ethics. He is always polite, courteous and thoughtful towards others. Our Student of the Week award went to Jakoda. Jakoda has certainly come back to school with a positive outlook towards her learning and the choices she is making shows her personal growth and maturity. Well done! Once again I would like to take just another minute of your time to remind you that I am here if you have any concerns or issues that you would like to discuss. Please feel free to contact the school and we will make a time to sit down and have a yarn. Small issues are fixed quickly, large ones can take up so much time and energy…. Please let me know if I can help. Once again from all here in Perch Room: Janet, Lisa, Matt and Perch students - a very happy and safe week ahead! To you all!

Goannas The term is already going so quickly with so many new and exciting things being introduced each week to the Goannas classroom! We are in the middle of a room 'makeover' and look forward to inviting families in when the room is complete for a morning tea to celebrate. We have worked hard on our typing skills, using Microsoft Word frequently to journal and practice our formatting. Also in English, we have started looking at the text "The Rabbits" by John Marsden and Shaun Tan as a focus, especially in our Colonisation unit. It has brought up some upsetting and confronting events that have occurred over the last few hundred years, but our Goannas have been very mature and eager to learn about this part of history. We were so very lucky to have some special people come to our school and begin an introductory lesson on the Barkindji language. We were so engaged and showed the upmost respect for such incredible leaders. Goannas had a great end of week, beating all the teachers in Laser Tag. We were very well behaved and proud to be representing the school. We look forward to our swimming carnival this week and for those in Year 6, the last Swimming Carnival at Dareton Public School!
