Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to
everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before
others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in
heaven.
Mark 16:15-16And He said to them, “Go into
all the world and preach the gospel to all creation.
Whoever believes and is baptized will be saved, but whoever does not believe
will be condemned.
Matthew 5:14-16 NIV
You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Neither do people light a lamp and put it under a bowl. Instead they put it on its stand, and it gives light to
everyone in the house. In the same way, let your light shine before
others, that they may see your good deeds and glorify your Father in
heaven.
1. Light Shines1. Light Shines
John 9:5 - While I am in the world, I am the light of the world.”
Mat 5:14 “You are the light of the world. A town built on a hill cannot be hidden.
Acts 13:47 - “I have made you a light for the Gentiles, that you may bring salvation to
the ends of the earth.”
2 Corinthians 4:3-4
And even if our gospel is veiled, it is veiled to those who are perishing. The god of this age has blinded the minds of unbelievers, so that they cannot see the light of the gospel that displays the glory of Christ, who is the image of God.
Mark 1:17 “Come, follow me,” Jesus said, “and I will send you out to fish for people.”
2. Light Reflects2. Light Reflects
John 1:6-12 There was a man sent from God whose name was John. He came as a witness to testify concerning that light, so that through him all might believe. He
himself was not the light; he came only as a witness to the light. The true light that gives light to everyone was coming into the world. He was in the world, and though
the world was made through him, the world did not recognize him. He came to that which was his own, but his own did not receive him. Yet to all who did receive him, to those who believed in his name, he gave the
right to become children of God —
2 Corinthians 3:182 Corinthians 3:18
And all of us have had that veil removed so that we can be mirrors
that brightly reflect the glory of the Lord. And as the Spirit of the Lord works within us, we become
more and more like him and reflect his glory even more.
3. Light WarnsJohn 3:16-19 - For God so loved the world that he
gave his one and only Son, that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have
eternal life. For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. Whoever believes in
him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because they have not believed in the name of God’s
one and only Son. This is the verdict: Light has come into the world, but people loved
darkness instead of light because their deeds were evil.
