Pastor’s Musing Three preachers sat discussing the best positions for prayer while a telephone repairman worked nearby. “Kneeling is definitely best,” claimed one. “No,” another contended. “I get the best results standing with my hands outstretched to heaven.”

“You’re both wrong,” the third insisted. “The most effective prayer position is lying prostrate, face down on the floor.” The repairman could contain himself no longer. “Hey, fellas,” he interrupted, “the best prayin’ I ever did was hangin’ upside down from a telephone pole.”

SAINTS AND SPECIAL OBSERVANCES Sunday: Sixth Sunday of Easter; Julian Calendar Easter Monday: St. Athanasius Tuesday: Ss. Philip and James Thursday: The Ascension of the Lord transferred to Sunday; Yom Ha-Shoa (Holocaust Remembrance Day) National Day of Prayer; Cinco de Mayo Friday: First Friday Saturday: First Saturday

Message from the Pastor W elcome to St. Ambrose ! We are so glad you are able to join

us today to celebrate the Sixth Sunday of Easter. THE GIFT OF PEACE: We are offered another vision in today’s second reading, a vision of the New Jerusalem, “coming down out of heaven from God” (Revelation 21:10). Read between the lines describing the radiant city, and we find that the greatest beauty revealed is the beauty of perfect symmetry and order, a city founded on the faith of the twelve tribes of Israel and the Twelve Apostles, lit only by the glory of God. The first reading and the Gospel are linked to this idealized description of the New Jerusalem. In both we read of distress and disturbance countered by the gift of peace. “My peace I give to you,” Jesus assures his disciples at the Last Supper (John 14:27). In keeping with that gift, the apostles and elders, in the reading from Acts, decide not to disturb the peace of new Gentile believers. The undue burden of circumcision will not be imposed on them. Have a wonderful week—Remember—the most beautiful thing is to see a person smiling; and even more beautiful is knowing that you are the reason behind it!

ALL THE ADVANTAGES: We want to give our children what we didn’t have; but let’s make sure we give them what we did have: our faith. —Anonymous

Saint Ambrose Catholic School News Lisa Dodge, Principal

As our school year rapidly approaches the end, St Ambrose School will be saying

goodbye to one of the most tenured teachers the school has ever had: Mrs. Charlotte Curti. Mrs. Curti has served many functions at the school over the past 29 years of service she has blessed us with, including administration and educating our middle school students in the subjects of Math and Social Studies. As the 8th grade homeroom teacher she has also helped guide our graduating students as they complete the holiest of Sacraments, Confirmation, as well as guided the students into their next great adventure, high school. Mrs. Curti’s steadfast dedication to the education of our students has garnered her the honor of being the St Ambrose 2015-2016 Teacher of the Year. We will be honoring Charlotte Curti’s 29 years of service with a reception after the 10:30am Mass on Sunday, June 4th. Please join us in celebrating Mrs. Curti and all she has contributed to our community!
