We asked them both a few questions so we can get to know them beer. Debbie Loftus - Wingate by Wyndham What was one of your greatest successes? “After years of being a sales manager, finally get a promotion to be a director of sales.” Finish this sentence. “On a day off I…” “take my bulldog, Lola and Pi Bull, Luci to Creve Coeur Park and walk around the lake and then after, they like to go swimming.” What is something people would be surprised to hear about you? “That I am related to a Cardinals Baseball Player.” The Wingate is currently undergoing a $6.5 million renovation and will be completed sometime in May. Stop by sometime to see our progress. Joe Wollard - Labor Ready What was one of your greatest successes? . In one year, I moved from Indianapolis to St. Louis, got a great new job, bought a new house, and my wife and I had a beautiful baby girl named Skylar.Finish this sentence. “On a day off I…” enjoy golfing, boating, and most of all, spending time with my family.” What is something people would be surprised to hear about you? my first name is Charles, and I am named after my grandfather, Charlie Brown. He aended school with Charles M. Schulꜩ (the creator of Charlie Brown/Peanuts) who based the character’s name off my Grandfather. So basically I’m named after “the original” Charlie Brown (as my grandfather intro- duced himself).” Labor Ready is always transforming and improving. Within the last couple years we have focused heavily on recruiting, which allows us to specialize for a wider variety of customers and ensure the people we put to work every day are the very best. With such a strong emphasis on recruiting we are able to provide people for much more skilled positions upon our customers’ request. From the Chairwoman On behalf of our membership, Edward Jones, Ranken Jordan Pediat- ric Bridge Hospital, and Fred Weber, Inc, we are pleased to announce our 2014 scholarship recipients: Kevin Deng from Parkway North, Gabriel Sanders from Parkway North, Abby Williams from Parkway North, Juana Gordilla from Paonville, and Jain Bushra from Paon- ville. Each student will be awarded a $1000 scholarship at our May luncheon. Thank you for your support throughout the year and for making the Education Foundation Scholarship Program another suc- cess in 2014. Did you know the Philanthropic Commission received 26 applications this year and has awarded $92,000 since inception of the Education Foundation Scholarship Program? Or that the Golf Commiee currently consists of 11 members that work with the chamber staff to ensure the event is a success? These are just two of the many commiees here at MHCC that you can become involved with. If you haven’t already done so, I encourage you to check out our newly revised website. You can find a variety of commiees and upcoming events along with a selection of marketing opportunities. If we aren’t already offering benefits and services that are of value to you, I ask that you suggest new ways that we can. We are open to suggestions on how we can continuously increase the value of your membership. Our 21st Annual MHCC Golf Tournament is just around the corner on June 24th. Teams are selling fast. Be sure to secure your team quickly and join us for some fun in the sun at one of the premier clubs in greater St. Louis, Whitmoor Country Club!

Don’t Miss Our June Luncheon An Update from the Missouri State Auditor State Auditor Tom Schweich is a fifth-generation Missourian and a graduate of St. Louis County Public Schools, Yale, and Harvard Law School. Schweich practiced law for over 20 years in St. Louis at the law firm of Bryan Cave LLP.

Schweich began his public service career investigating the notorious siege at Waco, Texas as part of Jack Danforth’s Special Counsel investigation. Schweich then served as Chief of Staff to three United States Ambassadors to the United Nations and as Deputy Director and Acting Director of the law enforcement division of the U.S. State Department where he oversaw the activities of 4,000 people in over 40 countries with an annual budget of $2.5 billion. In March 2007, President Bush appointed Schweich U.S. Ambassador for Counternarcotics and Justice Re-form in Afghanistan During his service in the State Department, he led diplomatic missions to approximately 30 countries.

Schweich is the author of three books: Protect Yourself from Business Lawsuits (and lawyers like me), Crashproof Your Life, and Staying Power. In November 2010, the people of Missouri elected Schweich to be their State Auditor. Schweich is married and has two children.
