The sole exception is the Quenya song Namarie, which was based on a tune by Tolkienhimself and which has some affinities to Gregorian chant. This book has been valuedeven by those uninterested in the music, since it helps Tolkiens readers to betterunderstand the cultures of the various mythological beings presented in Middle-earth, and helps linguists analyse Tolkiens poetry. For example, it contains one ofthe longest samples of the language Quenya (in the song Namarie), as well as theSindarin prayer A Elbereth Gilthoniel with grammatical explanations. An early reprint of a lecture delivered in the City Temple, London, October 10, 1907, originally published in The Christian Commonwealth. Annie Besant was the president of the Theosophical Society, whose members had as their goal the attainment of knowledge of God. She traveled extensively studying different religious traditions. This short speech is an attempt to reconcile the spiritual life and domestic life, arguing that one need not resort to asceticism to properly practice a spiritual discipline. Very good. Jacket edges rubbed with some loss.

The character of Lassie was originally introduced in short pieces Knight wrote for The Saturday Evening Post beginning in 1938. The name Lassie has become synonymous with the distinctive look of the rough collie. Very good. Lacks jacket. Boards a bit rubbed & soiled, top corner worn through at tip.
