How Can We Serve You This
Summer? Survey link here. As Iowa 4-H Youth Development prepares for
summer youth programming in alternative
learning formats as a result of social
distancing guidelines with COVID-19, we are
seeking the input of youth and families on the
types of resources that would be most
preferred. We’ve created a short survey for 4-
H families to complete by May 1. (https://

DYK...Project vs Exhibit A 4-H Project is an area of emphasis in which
a member enrolls, studies, learns and keeps
records. Project examples include animal
science, visual arts or food and nutrition.
Livestock are also project areas.
A 4-H Exhibit is an item created resulting from
project work. The member may choose to
bring the exhibit to the fair. A 4-H exhibit
should be the best example of the 4-H’ers
knowledge or skills gained from a project
area. Exhibit examples include a poster
explaining different types of gates for
livestock, a painting or a plate of cookies. The
animal you bring to the fair is also an exhibit.
Update on Face-to-Face Events At this time, ISU Extension and Outreach has
cancelled or postponed all face-to-face
programming through May 31, 2020. All
overnight activities are cancelled through
August 31, 2020. We’re not sure what June
will look like yet but we’ll keep you posted.
The Clinton County Extension Council and
staff are communicating regularly about the
status of the office and hope to have answers
soon. Thank you for understanding!

2020 Iowa 4-H’ers for 4-H Campaign Pledge
Every year the State 4-H Council sponsors the Iowa 4-H'ers for 4-H Campaign, which raises money to fund projects that benefit 4-H members throughout the state. This year marks the 35th anniversary of the 4-Hers for 4-H Campaign. We are continuing the Count Your Clovers theme with a goal to raise $29,000! 4-H’ers investments contribute to:
• Providing financial assistance to help 4-H'ers attend 4-H camp or conference • Helping members pay part of their annual 4-H program fee • Funding for the State 4-H Youth Conference, which keeps registration fees affordable for
everyone!
Each 4-H club in Iowa is asked to donate a minimum of $3.00 per member to the campaign. All clubs that meet the $3.00 per member goal will receive a special campaign certificate. The top contributing counties and region will be formally recognized at the 2020 State 4-H Youth Conference in June.
This campaign is coordinated BY 4-H’ers to SUPPORT 4-H’ers and showcases just how much Iowa 4-H’ers care about their 4-H Program. Thank you for being a part of this special project!

Animal ID Entry 4-H Online HelpSheet Log in to 4-H Online: ***May 15th ID Deadline is extended to June 1st for 2020
Open a web browser and type in: https://iowa.4honline.com
On the Iowa 4-H Youth Development Log In page:
1. Click "I have a Profile." 2. Enter family email address provided to Extension Office. 3. Enter your password.
• If you have forgotten your password, mark "I forgot my Password."
• Click "Send my Password." Do not close the internet window. • Open your email browser and find the email from 4-H Online.
Locate your temporary password. • Return to 4-H Online and paste/type the temporary password.
4. Choose "Family" from the "Role" drop-down box. 5. Click "Log In."
• If you had to have your password re-set, you will need to create a new password before going on. Your passwords must be a minimum of 8 characters, and must contain 2 of the 3: letters, numbers, symbols.
The Member List screen includes all of your family members enrolled in 4-H: members, leaders, volunteers.
Click “Edit” to the right of the member listed to go to that member’s Personal Information Screen.
Locate and click on the Animals/Livestock link in the upper left.
Animal ID Entry 4-H Online HelpSheet There is a drop-down box and a list of any animals that have already been entered (there may not be any yet). Select the animal type that you want to enter and click the add button below the drop-down box.
The next screen will be a data entry screen for the species you selected (see below for examples). Note that in some species, certain selections will activate extra entry fields [Example: selecting Registered will in some cases show a Breed drop down box.]
Read the information at the top of each screen, particularly if you are considering exhibiting at the state fair. Some fields that are NOT required (bold) are actually necessary for state fair animals. For each animal entered, enter all the information requested and click the save button. All fields in bold are required.
NOTICE that you have options to print the information that you entered on screen.
• It is not necessary for you to print paper copies unless you need that information for a show that is outside of Iowa. The information that you enter in 4-H Online is available to Iowa 4-H staff, just as it is available to you.
• If you WISH to print the information on screen, you have two options: 1. Animal Exports (to Excel) – Option is located on the Animal List screen, and returns all information in an Excel
spreadsheet, one line per animal. Each animal type uses different fields, so if you have identified dogs and horses and llamas, you’ll export twice. This is for family info only—will not be accepted anywhere as a valid identification because it’s editable.
2. Print Animal Information – This option is located at the top of each individual animal screen, and prints a paper copy of the information that is on the screen for that specific animal. If you want one for each animal, you have to open each animal’s info screen and print the form for each. This is the equivalent of the old paper ID forms, but in Iowa 4-H shows, we will always use the online data, not any paper, as identification.
REMINDERS: Families are not able to enter information for any weighed-in animals (mkt. beef, sheep, meat goats & swine).
Those animals are entered by county staff. Refer to the Livestock Verification Help sheet for more information. All animal ID’s must be submitted no later than May 15th, 11:59 p.m. (June 1, 11:59 p.m. for 2020)
