Ancient Future Worship Service
Ancient-Future Worship applies early Christian worship models and applies them to the church in a
postmodern time. Weaving together Biblically-based resources and practices from across time and
around the world, Ancient-Future Worship is not a presentation or concert. Ancient-Future
Worship engages people in Christian worship that honours the person and work of Jesus Christ
and acknowledges the mystery and reality of the unity of Father, Son, and Holy Spirit as three
persons in one Godhead.
The June 2nd service will include Lectio Divina or "holy reading", which represents a way of
praying with Scripture that calls one to study, ponder, listen, pray, sing and rejoice from God's
Word. It is a contemplative practice. Although Lectio Divina is often associated with the medieval
church, it is rooted in Hebrew and early church worship. Our scripture focus on June 2nd will be
some of the key texts of the Minor Prophets, which will be studied in depth during the summer
Bible Study Series. We will also be celebrating Holy Communion in a communal setting.
On June 2, 2010 at 7:30 PM, come and worship...engage the Unchanging God in a changing
world. (Service to be held in Cameron Hall.)
