The Mission of Fairfield High School, working in collaboration with the home and community, is to instill in all students the desire and skills for academic, character, and social development. This is provided in a safe and nurturing environment that is respectful of each student’s learning style, potential, and cultural diversity in order to cultivate responsible and productive citizens for the future.

It’s hard to believe that we are approaching the final stretch of the school year! While we will not be “closing the books” anytime soon on the current school year, I would like to take this opportunity to thank our students, parents, and teachers for all of their hard work and positive efforts. As a result of everyone’s hard work, we have had an outstanding school year at FHS! Many of our students are

involved in at least one activity while some are involved in multiple activities. Hopefully, you were able to attend an activity, athletic event, concert, or

play during the school year. We are very proud of how our students have represented and will continue to represent FHS and our community!

I would like to thank our parents for entrusting us with their most prized possession, their children. Our staff truly appreciates the support that you have given to them and our students throughout the school year. It is an honor to serve in a community and school district in which parents are so supportive. Our students are fortunate to live in such a great community.

Finally, I would like to thank you for taking the time to praise staff members throughout the school year. FHS is fortunate to have such dedicated staff members. They are committed to providing students with an excellent educational experience, and your willingness to share praise with them is greatly appreciated.

Again, thank you for helping to make this school year a success! If you should ever have a question or concern, please do not hesitate to contact me.

CAN YOU HELP A GRADUATE?This joyous time of year when many 2016 graduates are planning parties, trips, college, and other senior events can be a difficult time for some families. The costs associated with caps and gowns, school fees, college fees etc. can be overwhelming especially in the current economy. We would like to help in a small way by seeking out gently used graduation caps and gowns to be re-used by students whose family cannot afford the more than $50 that an outfit costs. If you or your already graduated child would be willing to donate a red graduation cap/gown for a boy or a white cap/gown outfit for a girl, please contact the guidance office at the high school and we can arrange to get the donation to a student in need. Thank you.

5Congratulations to all our performers, directors, choreographers, designers and techies. What a great year of theatre! We are so grateful to the cast and crew of Steel Magnolias that started our season off with a bang. You took a well-known film and created a very special theatrical performance for our Kathleen Sullivan Studio Theatre production. Likewise, the cast and crew of Museum creatively and skillfully mounted the current exabition of characters. They really met every expectation of this challenging actor’s workshop production. You should all be very proud. To our student directors, thank you for a fantastic One-Act director’s festival. We were all encouraged by your choices and creativity. You allowed each of our student actors to have a chance to learn and grow. Finally, thank you to the cast and crew of Big Fish! Big Fish inspires the imagination while it tells a family’s tale, which demands a cast that is focused and willing to create a carnival of character. You did it, and did it well! We hope we can celebrate with you all at the Drama Banquet and Thespian Induction Ceremony on Wednesday, May 11!

To our seniors, know that we have truly enjoyed working with all of you throughout the past four years; some, our STARS kids, even longer. You have joined so many others in creating art and theatre for Fairfield, and will be greatly missed. We wish all of you well in your future endeavors, and are looking forward to hearing of all your successes. We want to add a special note of encouragement to Hannah Hensler (Musical Theatre at Kent State), Zachary Dichtl (Theatre at Northern Kentucky University), and Emily Derderian (Musical Theatre at Bowling Green State University) who have all decided to take their talents in theatre to the collegiate level - best of luck in your programs.

To our Juniors, Sophomores, Freshmen and incoming students, we are excitedly putting together next year’s program and look forward to the talent that each of you are ready to offer. We currently have not secured our show selections, but the dates are as follows:

• Opening meeting – August 19,2016• Fall Auditions – August 23 & 24, 2016• Studio Show – October 26,27,28 & 29, 2016• Fall PAC show – November 10 - 12, 2016• Director’s Festival Auditions – November 28 & 29, 2016• Musical Auditions - December 19-21, 2016• Festival Show – February 11, 2017• Spring Musical – April 20 – 23, 2017• Drama Banquet – May 11, 2017
