Sustentability – waste production
•How to approach the theme? How to connect 10 scholls, different teachers ?
•Approach and references: Ilha das Flores - Jorge Furtado´s film – about dumps its people and their survival.Lixo Extraordinário - Waste Land - Vik Muniz movie –The contemporary artist Vik Muniz collaborates with the brilliant catadores from Jardim Gramacho - the largest landfill of the world in the outskirt of Rio de Janeiro, pickers of recyclable materials, who live and work in the garbage and showing us how to recycle ourselves. Make art using recyclable material and photographs the results. Then he travels to London and sells one of the portraits in an auction.The pickers that worked with him learn how to improve their lives.•99 is not 100 - movie´s quote from a garbage collector – one single person can make all the difference.

Choro Workshop Using the 99 is not 100 – any care concerning waste production is
significant leaded us to :
- manufacturing musical instruments made of recycable materials and using them in alternative means .
- Mixing records , drums , vocals with new instruments created in the class : Bottles- ( Wind sound – blowed as in open flute) , shakers home made, drums made of boxes and drumsticks made of bamboo (they were an old curtain)
-The musical arrangement was created using a ciclic form : beggining with the wind bottles - very smoth and soft sonority then using a Villa Lobos theme ( O Trenzinho do caipira) , in each theme appearence a new idea came out, new instruments were added and rhythm grooves changed. After all, the compositon came to the end again with plastic bottles .
- “We were the Tonal part of the whole composition” , the others schools used atonal , non simetrical and dissonat elements to describe the whole scene.

Results The possibility of knowing closely a musician from Denmark during his
visit to the schools , demonstraing his way of producing music and the experimenting from unusual sound materials was excellent for music perception and cultural exchanges : learning a little more of Denmark .
Peter commented on the cuisine of Denmark, the temperature, the songs... He spoke children´s language and let students manipulate their instruments, setting a very special experience for everyone.
Some of them never heard about Denmark before this event.
Being able to create , participate on na artist presentation with the sustentabilty subject behind was na amazing experence for eveyone, school , students, teachers, facilitators. We had to work together !!!
CICLO 2014
-6/8 schools will be envolved;-Teachers will participate in workshops of City of Arts;-Workshops will mix diferentes kinds of arts: dance, drama, music, literature and visual arts.-The art coordinatores will visit each school to guide the project.-In the last week of May, teachers, artists and students all together will show the final perform in the City of Arts.-International Exchange between Rio de Janeiro, Cape Town, San Petersburg and Denmark.
