With less than five (5) years to go before entering 2020, Malaysia is currently experiencing a robust national transformation programme at a scale never seen before since the nation attained independence in August 1957. The New Economic Model (NEM) and Tenth Malaysia Plan (RMK10) have identified the need to unleash the true potential of corporate Malaysia and create a private sector-led economy. The latter connotes a high degree of trust, responsibility and opportunity vested onto companies and businesses in Malaysia, especially the small and medium enterprises (SMEs).

The corporate scenario of the 21st century is both challenging and exciting, promising numerous opportunities for wealth creation. This is provided the key economic role players in the country are able to navigate the economic landscape. The Companies Commission of Malaysia Training Academy (COMTRAC) believes that the directors and key role-players of companies need to be equipped with the fundamental knowledge on corporate governance, corporate responsibility and innovation to enable them to manage their companies on a sustainable manner and at the same time remain competitive.

The CDTP Fundamental is designed to convey basic yet vital information pertaining to the philosophy, characteristics, anatomy, life-span of a company and its key role players. The modules will also introduce the participants to the fundamental of corporate governance, corporate responsibility and financial statements. With effect from 2015, this programme will include overview of proposed Companies Bill.

The CDTP Intermediate explores the key components for the effective administration of a company such as the duties and responsibilities of directors, implementation of corporate governance, company meetings, understanding financial statements and corporate taxation. Principally, the CDTP Intermediate is a ‘scaled up’ version of CDTP Fundamental where more detailed information and knowledge will be conveyed for practical application and adoption by the corporate role-players.

The CDTP Advanced is designed to enable deliberations of key topics for efficient

administration of a company. Case studies will be shared with the participants where they

will assess, discuss and give views pertaining to the case study presented. This programme

will invite the participants to think critically and represents a departure from conventional

rote-learning.

The CDTP F + Human Resources Management is a result of fusing the modules for CDTP Fundamental with selected modules on human resources management. This programme is conceived pursuant to a strategic collaboration between SSM and Human Resources Development Fund (Perbadanan Sumber Manusia Bhd - HRDF). It recognizes the importance of effective human resources management in addition to the corporate governance and corporate responsibility.
