GAME NOTES

HEADLINESFor the second consecutive week, the Jets defense will face a top-five rushing attack. After facing a Jacksonville team that ranked tied for fifth, they will take on an Oakland attack that stands fourth in the NFL in rushing yards per game (160.5) and is led by RB Dar-ren McFadden, who ranks second in the NFL with 222 yards on 5.3 yards per carry this season.

The Jets defense leads the NFL with five interceptions and ranks third with seven take-aways. Four different players (Cromartie-2, Mauga-1, Revis-1 and Smith-1) have recorded interceptions. The Jets secondary returns all four starters (CB Darrelle Revis, S Jim Leonhard, S Eric Smith/Brodney Pool and CB Antonio Cromartie) to a defense that leads the NFL in completion percentage (51.4) and passer rating (67.5) since Head Coach Rex Ryan’s arrival in 2009.

RB LaDainian Tomlinson needs one touchdown to become the third player in NFL history to record 160 touchdowns. He would join Hall of Famers Jerry Rice (208) and Emmitt Smith (175) as the only players to accomplish the feat. Tomlinson’s 25 career touch-downs (22 rushing, 3 receiving) against the Raiders are the most he has scored against any team. In addition, he has score 12 touchdowns at O.co Coliseum, the most he has scored at any stadium except for San Diego’s Qualcomm Stadium.

This week’s game at Oakland marks the 10th time since 1999 (regu-lar and postseason), that the Jets have made a visit to the Coli-seum to face the Raiders. Overall, the clubs have met 11 times with Oakland winning six of the match ups. New York has won four of the last five contests.

5R3 - 4 - OVERVIEW BY POSITIONCLICK HERE FOR THE 2011 NEW YORK JETS INTERACTIVE MEDIA GUIDE

OVERVIEW BY POSITIONQuarterbacks (3), Returning Starter (1)Coach Matt Cavanaugh:Mark Sanchez opened the 2011 season connecting vs. DAL (9/11) on 26-of-44 passes for 335 yards, two touchdowns and one interception. The 335 yards vs. DAL are the second-most yards in a single game in his career. After two games, he has completed 43-of-68 passes (63.2%) for 517 yards, four TDs and three INTs. He finished the 2010 season with a career-high 3,291 yards, 17 touchdowns and 13 interceptions for a passer rating of 75.3 on the season. He became only the second quarterback (Ben Roethlisberger 5, 2004-05) to start and win four postseason games in their first two seasons in the NFL. Sanchez recorded a 127.3 passer rating on 16-of-25 passing for 194 yards and three touchdowns in the club’s win at NE (1/16). It was the first time he has thrown three touchdown passes in a postseason game, and tied the club record for most in a single postseason game. He led the Jets on a five-play, 40-yard game-winning drive, in which he completed all three of his passes for 38 yards in the Wild Card victory at IND (1/8). The Jets win marked Sanchez’s third postseason win, the most by any QB in franchise his-tory. His six career rushing touchdowns ties him for fourth amongst Jets quarterbacks in club history. Veteran Mark Brunell signed with the Jets as a free agent (7/28/10). The three-time Pro Bowler missed the preseason due to injury. Fourth-year veteran Kevin O’Connell returns to the Jets after spending the 2011 training camp with the Miami Dolphins. O’Connell originally joined the Jets via trade with DET in 2009, before eventually being waived (7/29/11). Running Backs (5), Returning Starter (1)Coach Anthony Lynn:After spending two seasons as an understudy to Thomas Jones and LaDainian Tomlinson, Shonn Greene serves as the starter at running back. Greene finished the 2010 season with 766 yards and two touchdowns on 185 carries and added 70 yards on 19 carries in the Wild Card victory at IND (1/8). He registered his third-postseason rushing touchdown, tied for most in franchise history, when he raced 16 yards for the Jets final score of the game at NE (1/16). For his postseason career, Greene has a 5.1 yard-per-carry average, the best among Jets rushers all-time that have carried the ball at least 40 times. Tomlinson moved into the role of the Jets third-down back in 2011 after he led the team with 914 yards and six rushing touchdowns on 219 carries last season. His 52 receptions were second on the team. He recorded the second-most productive postseason game of his career at IND (1/8) when he rushed for two touchdowns and 82 yards on 16 carries (5.1 avg.). Second-year fullback John Conner enters 2011 as the starter after spending one season learning from Tony Richardson. Known as “The Terminator” for his crushing blocks, Conner rushed for 44 yards and his first NFL touchdown on eight carries in 2010 season finale vs. BUF (1/2). 2010 fourth-round selection out of USC, Joe McKnight, amassed a Jet season-high when he rushed for 158 yards on 32 carries vs. BUF (1/2). He was the Jets leading rusher this preseason with 101 yards on 25 carries. He contributed a key play on special teams when he blocked a punt to set up a game-tying score vs. DAL (9/11). Fourth-round selection Bilal Powell has shown versatility and a powerful rushing style, recording 62 rushing yards, a touchdown and 29 receiving yards on four receptions in the preseason.Wide Receivers (6), Returning Starter (2)Coach Henry Ellard:The lone starter returning in 2011 is Santonio Holmes. Since 1983, no NFL receiver has caught more touchdown passes (5) in the final 1:00 of 4th quarter/overtime (including playoffs) than Holmes. The Super Bowl XLIII MVP re-signed with the Jets this offseason and was named captain by Coach Ryan. The new members of the Jets receiving corps are 10-year veteran Plaxico Burress, 2011 fifth-round selection Jeremy Kerley and 15-year veteran Derrick Mason. Entering the season, the trio of Burress, Holmes and Mason had recorded more yards (24,317) and touchdowns (147) than any active trio in the NFL. The group’s total receptions (1,716) ranks second in the NFL. Burress returns to the NFL for the first time since last seeing action in 2008. In Week One, Burress recorded four receptions for 72 yards and a 26-yard touchdown, his first touchdown since at PHI (11/09/08). Kerley, the leading candidate to replace Brad Smith in the Jets Wildcat package and recorded a rush, a pass attempt and a reception during the preseason. Mason brings his 928 (third among active players) career receptions to New York, after spending six seasons with Baltimore. Young veterans Logan Payne and Patrick Turner round out the receiving corps.Tight Ends (3), Returning Starter (1)Coach Mike Devlin:Fourth-year pro Dustin Keller started the 2011 season where he left off the 2010, leading the Jets in receiving with 11 catches for 162 yards and two touchdowns. Last season, he finished first on the team in receptions (55), and third in touchdowns (5) and receiving yards (687). Two former undrafted free agents Matthew Mulligan and Jeff Cumberland both see action in multiple tight end sets. Cumberland led all Jet receivers with 11 receptions for 156 yards in the preseason, despite only seeing action in three games. Offensive Line (9), Returning Starters (5)Coach Bill Callahan:In 2006, Jets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum focused on the offensive line, selecting LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson fourth overall and C Nick Mangold 29th overall in the NFL draft. The two players have started 82 consecutive games together, making them the only two players who entered the league together to start their team’s first 75 regular-season games on the same offensive line since 1970. Ferguson earned his second-consecutive Pro Bowl nod for his play last season. He was also awarded 2010 Pro Football Weekly’s Midseason All-Pro team honors, 2009 Pro Bowl honors and 2006 All-Rookie Team honors by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writer’s Association. During his first four seasons, Mangold earned Associated Press All-Pro honors (09, 10), three consecutive Pro Bowl selections (08, 09, 10) and All-Rookie recognition in 2006 as voted by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Football Writer’s Association. Also on the offensive line is third-year LG Matt Slauson, who earned the starting job after an impressive 2010 preseason and started every game last season. RG Brandon Moore leads the group and has started 107 consecutive games for the Jets. RT Wayne Hunter who earned his first-career start at right tackle at PIT

OVERVIEW BY POSITION(12/19) and also started at CHI (12/26) and vs. BUF (1/2). Hunter also started the club’s 28-21 win at NE (1/16) and the AFC Championship game at PIT (1/23). Fourth-year C/G Robert Turner and second-year G/T Vladimir Ducasse provide depth. The Jets acquired G Caleb Schlauderaff in a trade with Green Bay (9/3/11) and C Colin Baxter off of waivers from SD (9/4/11). Baxter saw his first NFL action in Week Two when Mangold left the game due to an injury. Defensive Line (6), Returning Starters (2)Coach Mark Carrier and Jeff Weeks:Led by veteran starter DT Mike DeVito (5th season) and defensive captain NT Sione Pouha (7th season), the Jets field a defensive line with four players who have three-or-less years of experience. The leaders of this group teamed up to make a huge play in the season opener vs. DAL (9/11) when DeVito recorded the first full-sack of his career dropping QB Tony Romo and forcing a fumble at the Jets two-yard line, that Pouha would recover for the fourth fumble recovery of his career. The group was infused with two draft selections this season, DE Muhammad Wilkerson (first round, 30th overall) and NT Kenrick Ellis (third round, 94th overall). DeVito earned 11 starts and recorded 46 tackles in 2010. Pouha has started 29 games in the last two seasons for a defense that finished first overall in 2009 and fourth in 2010. He finished tied for the most tackles among Jets defensive linemen with 46 and recovered a team-high three fumbles and had two sacks last season. Wilkerson earned his first-career sack in Week Two, when he dropped Jaguars QB Luke McCown in the end zone for a safety. It was the first time a player recorded a safety on his first-career sack since 2008, when Ravens LB Jameel McClain did it for a Rex Ryan-led defense in Baltimore. Marcus Dixon, who was awarded to the Jets off waivers (9/5/10) and registered his first-career sack when he dragged downed Bears QB Jay Cutler at CHI (12/26), helps provide depth along with Ropati Pitoitua, who missed all of 2010 due to an injury. Linebackers (8), Returning Starters (4)Coach Bob Sutton:Led by inside linebackers David Harris and Bart Scott and flanked by versatile linebackers Bryan Thomas and Calvin Pace, this unit allows the Jets defense to use multiple schemes. Harris, was re-signed to a long-term deal this offseason after he led the team in tackles for the third time in his four-year career with 119 tackles and registered three sacks, a FR and two passes defensed in 2010. Scott, who is the tone-setter for the Jets defense, finished second on the team with 94 tackles, one sack, one forced fumble and one pass defensed. He currently leads the team with two sacks. The reliable Thomas finished with 41 tackles, a team-leading six sacks, one pass defensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery. It was the first time he led the team in sacks since 2006, when he recorded 8.5. Pace played in his first season opener since 2008 and recorded a sack of DAL QB Tony Romo. Including the playoffs, he recorded a sack in five consecutive games dating back to the 2010 season finale vs. BUF (1/2/11). His streak ended in the 32-3 victory vs. JAX (9/18). Second-year LB Josh Mauga has solidified himself as the third inside linebacker after serving on special teams last season. He recorded the first interception of his career in Week Two. Third-year man Jamaal Westerman provides depth on the outside along with Garrett McIntyre. Filling in at the inside linebacker position is Nick Bellore, the club’s lone 2011 undrafted free agent to make the team. Bellore and McIntyre are first and second, respectively, on the team in special teams tackles.Defensive Backs (10), Returning Starters (4)Coach Dennis Thurman and Jim O’NeilThis group is led by All-Pro Darrelle Revis, who in the Wild Card victory at IND (1/8/11), held the AFC’s leading receiver, Reggie Wayne (111-1,355-6), to one catch for one yard. Setup the Jets game-winning field goal in Week One vs. DAL (9/11) when he intercepted a DAL QB Tony Romo pass intended for WR Dez Bryant and returned it 20 yards to DAL 34. The secondary also returns starting S Jim Leonhard, who returns to action after a season ending injury in 2010. The safety tandem of Eric Smith and Brodney Pool split time in 2010 as starters and both re-signed with the Jets for the 2011 season. Pool started 12 of the 2010 contests, but Smith, who started six games last year, got the starting nod in 2011 and recorded the second sack of his career in the second quarter vs. DAL (9/11) and the fifth interception of his career vs. JAX (9/18). CB Antonio Cromartie, who this summer re-signed to a long-term deal with the Jets, is also back in the fold and has two interceptions, a 27.2 KOR avg. and a rush for one yard after two weeks. Second-year cornerback and 2010 first-round selection Kyle Wilson, who earned starts in the first three games of the season as well as at CLV (11/14) and BUF (1/2), will be joined by Donald Strickland, a former Jet who spent 2010 with the San Diego Chargers as nickel cornerbacks. The secondary is rounded out with young-veterans Marquice Cole, Emanuel Cook and Isaiah Trufant, who recovered a blocked punt for the game-tying touchdown in Week One vs. DAL (9/11).Specialists (3), Returning Starters (2)Coach Mike Westhoff and Ben KotwicaKicker Nick Folk and long snapper Tanner Purdum return to a group that adds new punter T.J. Conley. Folk has connected on all five of his FG attempts this season, including a game winning 50-yarder in Week One vs. DAL (9/11). As a Jet, he has connected on three game winning FG, including an overtime kick at DET (11/7) and a kick at IND (1/8) in the AFC Wild Card playoff game. Conley secured the punting job in his third training camp with the Jets. Of his 11 punts this season, three have been placed inside the opponents’ 10-yard line and he has a net punting average of 36.1.

2011 PRESEASON HIGHLIGHTSQUARTERBACK PLAY• Jets quarterbacks did not appear to have much rust, as they were sharp and efficient during the preseason. They combined for six touch-downs, while not throwing an interception. Overall, they completed 72-of-121 attempts for 742 yards, with a 93.8 passer rating. Starting QB Mark Sanchez went 26-of-43 for 280 yards and posted a 102.8 rating while throwing for a team-high three touchdowns. Rookie QB Greg McElroy completed 36-of-59 attempts for 335 yards, two touchdowns and a NFL rookie-best 87.9 QB rating.

PLAXICO RETURNS• WR Plaxico Burress returned to the field for the first time in 1,001 days when he suited up against the Cincinnati Bengals in Week 2 of the preseason. Burress wasted no time making an impact, as he caught three passes for 66 yards in the first half, including a 26-yard touch-down pass from Sanchez.

KERLEY SHOWS VERSATILITY• Fifth-round draft pick WR Jeremy Kerley showed he can be a jack-of-all-trades for the Jets. The rookie totaled 292 combined yards, as a receiver, returner and Wildcat quarterback. He caught six passes for 55 yards as a receiver. As a returner, he averaged 28.3 yards per kick return and 8.9 yards per punt return. In the Wildcat, Kerley completed his only pass, which went for 18 yards, and added five yards on the ground.

GIVE AND TAKE• In four preseason games, the Jets posted a +6 turnover ratio, as the defense forced nine turnovers, and the offense surrendered the ball just three times. S Jim Leonhard, who is returning from a broken leg that ended his 2010 season, led the defense with two interceptions.

YOUTH MOVEMENT ON THE D-LINE• The Jets hope that their top two draft picks, first-round DE Muhammad Wilkerson and third-round selection NT Kenrick Ellis will make an impact on the defensive line in 2011. The two rookies helped slow down opponents’ running backs, as the Jets gave up just 2.9 yards per carry in the preseason.

13R3 - 9 - REX RYANCLICK HERE FOR THE 2011 NEW YORK JETS INTERACTIVE MEDIA GUIDE

REX RYAN

RYAN=DEFENSELike most sons, Rex Ryan always knew he wanted to be in the fam-ily business. For the Ryans, the family business is stifling defense. In 1985, his father, Buddy Ryan, led what is widely considered to be the best defense in NFL history. Known simply as the ‘85 Bears, Buddy’s unit allowed 12.6 points a game. For the season, they al-lowed 20 touchdowns (9 rushing, 10 passing and 1 on a return).Rex has been a part of some of the NFL’s best defenses himself. In 2000, he served as the defensive line coach for a Baltimore Ravens team that allowed an NFL best 10.3 points a game. In 16 games, the 2000 Ravens allowed 18 touchdowns (5 rushing, 11 passing and 2 on returns). As a defensive coordinator in 2006, Rex matched his fa-ther’s 1985 feat allowing 12.6 points a game with the Ravens. Rex’s 2006 team led the NFL in 11 categories: yards per game (264.1), yards per play (4.51), rushing yard per game (75.9), rushing yards per play (3.31), interception rate (5.5%), sacks per pass attempt (11.79%), first downs per game (14.8), third-down conversions al-lowed (28.9%), red zone pct. (33.3%) and points allowed a game (12.6).

In 2009, Rex returned the family business to the Jets, where his fa-ther earned his first NFL job. Rex took a defense that ranked 10th in scoring for the 2008 season to the top of the NFL rankings in seven categories: yards per game (252.3), yards per play (4.24), passing yards a game (153.7), passing yards per play (4.91), first downs al-lowed (14.8), third-down conversions allowed (31.5%) and points allowed (14.8).Season Tm Pts/G NFL Rank2011 Jets 13.5 32010 Jets 19.0 62009 Jets 14.8 12008 Ravens 15.3 32007 Ravens 24.0 11t2006 Ravens 12.6 12005 Ravens 18.7 5

AFFECTING THE QUARTERBACKThe Jets affect quarterbacks in more ways than just sacking them. Since 2009, opposing passers have completed an NFL low 51.2% of their passes while being sacked 72 times, which is tied for 12th-most over the span.

2011:5 different Jets combined for 6 sacks, 4 less than NFL-leading Cow-boys with 10.

• 56.3 passer rating - best in NFL• 55.7 completion percentage - sixth in NFL

2010: 14 different Jets combined for 40 sacks, eight less than the NFL-leading Steelers with 48.

• 77.1 passer rating – sixth in NFL• 50.7 completion percentage – best in NFL

• 58.8 passer rating – best in NFL.• 51.7 completion percentage – best in NFL.• 8 TD passes allowed – best in NFL.

CAPTAINSFor the first time since becoming the Jets head coach, Rex Ryan has named team captains. WR Santonio Holmes, NT Sione Pouha, CB Darrelle Revis, QB Mark Sanchez and S Eric Smith will wear the “C” on their jerseys for the 2011 season.

Coach Ryan had this to say about his selection of captains. “It was not voted on. This is something that I chose. I chose these guys based on what I see on the practice field, the game field, the classroom, their leadership, what they mean to their units, the pride and every-thing else. That’s what I’m looking for in those individuals.”

He has enjoyed his two highest tackle totals 61 (2009) and 46 (2010). Pouha also recorded his first two full sacks of his career in 2010.Terrell Suggs (BLT 05-08)In four seasons under Pettine, Suggs posted his four highest tackle totals, collected four of his five career interceptions and posted three seasons of at least eight sacks, leading the team in sacks twice.Adalius Thomas (BLT 05-06)Thomas enjoyed his two best seasons in his only two seasons with Pettine when he notched 9.0 sacks in 2005 and 11.0 sacks in 2006.

SCHOOLED BY SCHOTTYDrew Brees (SD 02-05)Schottenheimer arrived in San Diego for Brees’ second season and quickly became a large part of his development with 2002 marking his first season as a starting quarterback. In four seasons with Schot-ty, Brees averaged over 3,000 yards a season, completing 62.3% of his passes and compiling an 84.7 passer rating.Chad Pennington (NYJ 06-07)Schottenheimer’s first season with the Jets coincided with the return of Chad Pennington from a season-ending injury the year before. Un-der Schotty’s direction, Pennington posted a then career-best 3,352 yards passing, completing 64.5% of his passes for an 82.6 passer rat-ing. Pennington also took home Comeback Player of the Year honors as he keyed a Jet return to the postseason.Thomas Jones (NYJ 07-09)Jones was considered a journeyman for the earlier part of his career after spending his first seven seasons in the league with three differ-ent teams. In that time, he averaged 769.1 yards and 4.9 touchdowns per season. In 2007, he was acquired by the Jets in an offseason trade and instantly became an integral part of Coach Schottenheimer’s of-fense. In three seasons under Schotty, Jones averaged 1,277.7 yards rushing and 9.3 rushing touchdowns a season and set career-highs in rushing yards and rushing touchdowns in 2008.Dustin Keller (NYJ 08-)Keller, the Jets 2008 first-round pick, quietly had the best first two seasons by a tight end in club history catching 93 passes, the most by a Jets tight end in their first two NFL seasons. In the 2010 season, Keller led the team in receptions with 55 for 687 yards and 5 touch-downs. Under Schottenheimer, Keller has become a go-to player with 185 career catches for 2,208 yards and 15 touchdowns. Mark Sanchez (NYJ 09- )Sanchez, the Jets 2009 first-round pick, was chosen to direct Schot-tenheimer’s offense. Since then, Sanchez finished his sophomore season with a career-high of 3,291 yards, 17 touchdowns, 13 inter-ceptions and a passer rating of 75.3, making him the second youngest Jets quarterback to pass for over 3,000 yards. He is also the youngest quarterback in NFL history to throw eight touchdown passes and no interceptions during the first five games of the season. During San-chez’s two consecutive playoff runs, he led the Jets to a club record of four road victories, and tied the record for the most postseason road wins in the NFL. Additionally, he tied the club record for the most postseason touchdown passes in a single game with three.

WONDERFUL WORLD OF WESTHOFFNo team in the league has had more kickoff return touchdowns since Mike Westhoff’s tenure with the Jets began in 2001. Since then, the Jets have scored 14 times on kickoff returns. Perhaps even more remarkable than the fact that the Jets lead the league with 14 scores, is that those scores have come from six different players. Leon Washington (4), Justin Miller (3), Brad Smith (3), Chad Morton (2), Jerricho Cotchery (1) and Jonathan Carter (1) have all brought a kick back for a score under Westy.

ON THE MARKQB Mark Sanchez has taken the New York Jets to the AFC Champi-onship game in each of his first two seasons. It is Sanchez’s postsea-son prowess that has propelled the Jets to four postseason victories over the last two years, all of which were on the road. In defeating the Cincinnati Bengals (1/9/10), San Diego Chargers (1/17/10), In-dianapolis Colts (1/8/11) and New England Patriots (1/16/11), San-chez has delivered in the difficult month of January. He ranks seventh all-time in NFL history for passer rating among all quarterbacks in their first six postseason starts, with a rating of 94.3. Out of all the quarterbacks listed below, only Sanchez made his first six postseason starts in his first two NFL seasons.

WINS IN FIRST TWO SEASONS BY A QBQB Mark Sanchez was one of five players chosen as team captains for 2011 by Head Coach Rex Ryan. Despite being only 24 years old, he has assumed a leadership role both on and off the field with the New York Jets. Sanchez is tied for the second-most victories by any quarterback in his first two seasons in the NFL, including the postsea-son. Only Ben Roethlisberger’s 27 victories in his first two seasons were more than Sanchez’s 23 wins with the Jets over the past two years. Four of Sanchez’s 23 victories have been in the postseason.

MEET THE OFFENSIVE LINEIn 2010, the New York Jets rushing attack finished fourth in the NFL, averaging 4.4 yards per an attempt and 148.4 yards a game. In 2009, the club finished the season leading the NFL in rushing, averaging 4.5 yards a carry and 172.3 yards a game. In six postseason games during the last two seasons, the line has allowed the Jets to aver-age 130.8 yards rushing a game. It is the most by any team that has played more than two postseason games during the span.

LT D’Brickashaw Ferguson, selected 4th overall in the 2006 NFL Draft, earned his 2nd Pro Bowl appearance in 2010. Named to the All-Rookie Team by Pro Football Weekly and the Pro Foot-ball Writers’ Association in ‘06.

LG Matt Slauson, originally selected in the sixth round of the 2009 NFL Draft. He earned a starting position last summer on a unit that helped the Jets lead the NFL in rushing last season.

C Nick Mangold, a three-time Pro Bowl selection, earned first-team All-Pro honors in 2009-10. Selected in the first round of the 2006 NFL Draft (29th overall), Mangold has started every game of his career.

RG Brandon Moore has helped pave the way for two of the Jets three-best rushing seasons. In 2009, the club rushed for a fran-chise-best 2,756 yards, while the team’s 2004 total of 2,388 ranks third-best in team history. In those seasons, he blocked for two rushing champions: Curtis Martin (1,697, 2004 NFL rushing title) and Thomas Jones (1,312, 2008 AFC rushing title). Origi-nally joined the Jets as an undrafted FA defensive tackle in 2002. Moved to guard during the 2003 offseason and earned the start-ing right guard position in 2004.

RT Wayne Hunter made his first start at tackle in place of an in-jured Damien Woody at PIT (12/19). He went on to make starts at CHI (1/26) and vs. BUF (1/2) prior to Woody’s return in the club’s Wild Card game at IND (1/8). After Woody suffered an injury in the Wild Card game, Hunter started the Jets final two postseason games. A former third-round selection in the 2003 NFL Draft by SEA, he had seen action as a tight end and spar-ingly at tackle since joining the Jets on the practice squad on 12/26/07.

For the season, nine of Keller’s 11 receptions have gone for a first down.

DUSTIN KELLER IN PERSPECTIVESince being selected in the first round of the 2008 NFL Draft, TE Dustin Keller has quietly had the best first three seasons by a tight end in club history. Despite working with two quarterbacks in his three seasons (Brett Favre ‘08 & Mark Sanchez ‘09-‘10), Keller has caught 148 passes for 1,744 yards, the most by a Jets tight end in their first three NFL seasons.

TONE TIMELiving up to his reputation of making key plays at big moments, WR Santonio Holmes caught his second game-winning touchdown pass in as many weeks from QB Mark Sanchez vs. HST (11/21). The score, with 10 seconds remaining, gave the club a 30-27 victory. He finished the game with his second 100-yard receiving game (7-126-2) in three weeks. His first came at DET (11/7), when he caught five passes for 114 yards.

One week earlier at CLV (11/14), Holmes caught a Sanchez throw and raced 37 yards for the game-winning touchdown, his first score as a Jet, with 16 seconds remaining in overtime. It was the fourth game that season that Holmes made the key play that led to a game winning score. Week Nine at DET (11/17), Holmes took a pass 52 yards to setup K Nick Folk’s game-winning 30-yard field goal. At DEN (10/17), he drew a 46-yard pass interference penalty to setup RB LaDainian Tomlinson’s game-winning touchdown.

In 2010, Holmes totaled 52 receptions for 746 yards (14.3 avg.) and six touchdowns.

MASON 60+ AND 750+Entering his 15th season, WR Derrick Mason has been one of the most consistent receivers in league history. Before joining the Jets on August 7, he compiled eight 1,000-yard seasons, while averaging 66 receptions and 849 yards per season, and 80 receptions and 1026 yards per season since becoming a full-time starter in 2000.

In addition to his consistency, Mason brings durability, having missed just six regular-season games in his career.

This year, Mason can become the first player in NFL history to re-cord 60-plus catches and 750-plus receiving yards in 12 consecutive seasons. He currently is tied with two other players at 11 straight 60-750 seasons — Hall of Fame WR Jerry Rice and TE Tony Gonzalez.Among active wide receivers he ranks first in receiving yards (11,917), second in receptions (928) and tied for third in receiving touchdowns (66). In New York’s come-from-behind 27-24 win, Burress caught four passes for 72 yards, including a 26-yard touchdown. It was his first touchdown since scoring on a 17-yard reception as a member of NYG at PHI (11/9/2008).

Of his 62 career touchdown receptions (regular and postseason com-bined), 20 have come from 31 yards or longer.

MASON MOVING THE CHAINSOnly ATL WR Roddy White has collected more receptions on third down than Mason from 2006-2010. His 127 receptions rank tied for second in the league, while 80.3% of those catches were converted for first downs.

Widely considered one of the best cornerbacks in the NFL, Revis’ numbers the last two seasons have illustrated why opposing quarterbacks rarely pay a visit to “Revis Island.” In his two seasons under Head Coach Rex Ryan, Revis has posted the lowest burn percentage* of any cornerback in the league and is tied for the highest percentage of passes defended to times targeted as well.Player Targeted Burned Burn Pct.Darrelle Revis 170 62 36.5%Brandon Carr 200 87 43.5%Stanford Routt 148 69 46.6%Jabari Greer 154 73 47.4%Brandon Flowers 200 95 47.5%Reggie Corner 115 56 48.7%Antonio Cromartie 191 94 49.2%Corey Webster 182 90 49.5%Tramon Williams 179 89 49.7%Andre’ Goodman 126 66 50.0%*Burned percentage tracks how a defensive player performs in de-fending passes in which he is the defensive target. Revis registered the 15th interception of his career when he picked off Tony Romo with 59 seconds remaining in the fourth quarter. The pick and ensueing 20-yard return lead to the game-winning field goal. For his career, Revis has picked off seven passes in the fourth quarter, with four coming when the game is within seven points with 2:00 or less remaining.Player Int +/- 7 PtsCharles Woodson 10 4Terence Newman 8 4Tracy Porter 7 5Darrelle Revis 7 4D. OPPOSING PASSERS VS. THE JETS• Since 2009, opposing quarterbacks have been held to just a 67.5

passer rating, which ranks first in the NFL during that period.• Since Rex Ryan took over as head coach of the Jets, quarterbacks

have converted just 51.4% of passes, the lowest completion per-centage during that span.

MUHAMMAD WILKERSONJets General Manager Mike Tannenbaum made it a point of emphasis to get younger on the defensive front this season, electing to draft local product, DL Muhammad Wilkerson, who prepped at Linden HS, in the first round. Wilkerson played collegiately at Temple, the same school as legendary Jets defensive lineman Joe Klecko.

Wilkerson started Opening Day at defensive end for the Jets, the first time a rookie has started in New York’s base defense in Week One since Dwight Lowery started at cornerback in 2008, and the first rookie to start for a Rex Ryan defense on Opening Day since DT Haloti Ngata and SS Dawan Landry. Both players started under Ryan in Baltimore in 2006, while he served as the defensive coordinator for the Ravens.

In Week Two, Wilkerson registered the first sack of his career when he brought down QB Luke McCown for a safety. He became the first player to record a safety on his first sack in the NFL since LB Jameel McClain accomplished the feat for a then-Rex Ryan lead Baltimore Ravens de-fense vs. the Oakland Raiders (10/26/08).

POUHA: HARD TO SAY, HARDER TO RUN ONNT Sione Pouha (pronounced see-OH-nay boe-OOH-ha) initially joined the Jets as a third-round pick in 2005. Playing sparingly in his first four seasons, Pouha became a full-time starter in 2009 and has helped the franchise to their best two-year rushing defense since the 1969-1970 seasons.

SACKS BY PACELB Calvin Pace finished the 2010 season just 0.5 sacks behind Jets’ sack leader LB Bryan Thomas with 5.5, despite missing the first four games due to injury. For the season, he finished with 55 tackles. It was the second-consecutive season that he has missed the first four games of the schedule. Pace led the Jets in sacks in both 2008 (7) and 2009 (8). In the last game of the 2010 season vs. BUF (1/2), Pace re-corded the second interception of his career along with a sack, three PD, three QHs and a tackle.

Pace continued his sack production in the postseason, taking down Peyton Manning in the Wild Card game (1/8 at IND), dropping Tom Brady in the Divisional game (1/16 at NE) and capping the postsea-son with a seven-yard sack of Ben Roethlisberger (1/23 at PIT).

For his career, Pace has recorded 35.5 sacks, 21.5 since joining the Jets in 2008. He has also recorded 14 forced fumbles, nine since joining the club.

DAVID HARRIS“He’s (LB David Harris) one of the most complete linebackers in our league. He’s an elite player who, for whatever reason, a lot of people don’t appreciate.” Jets Linebackers Coach Bob Sutton (New York Times, 8/1/10).In 2010, Harris was voted team MVP after he led the Jets defense with 119 tackles (90 solo). He added three sacks, two passes de-fensed, one forced fumble and one fumble recovery to his statline.

TACKLING MACHINEIn four seasons, Harris has led the team in tackles three times and finished second with 87 tackles in 2008 despite missing five games. In 2007, he led the team with 117 tackles despite not taking over starting duties until the eighth game of the season. Currently, Harris is ranked third for the season with 12.

DEFENSIVE LINEMEN WHO HAVE PRODUCED UNDER RYAN’S TUTELAGE INCLUDE:The Jets drafted Muhammad Wilkerson in the first round (30th overall) and Kenrick Ellis in the third round (94th overall) in the 2011 NFL Draft, adding to an already strong defensive line. Throughout the course of Head Coach Rex Ryan’s coaching career, he’s been able to produce prolific defensive linemen. Ryan coached the Arizona Cardinals defensive line in 1994, the Baltimore Ravens defensive line from 1999-2004, then became the Ravens’ defensive coordinator from 2005-2008 before taking the helm of the New York Jets in 2009. During those seasons, Ryan’s defensive linemen have produced 177 sacks and been selected to four Pro Bowls and three All-Pro teams. While some of Ryan’s linemen have been first-round draft picks, others were greeted with less fanfare coming out of college.

BLOCK PARTY In 2001, the Jets hired Mike Westhoff as their special teams coordinator. Since then, Westhoff’s unit has blocked 11 kicks, including block-ing at least one kick in each of the last six seasons. Seven of the 11 blocked kicks have been punts, with three coming in each of the last three seasons.
