The Brief • “ You have been commissioned by the Northern
Echo to produce a new magazine or newspaper product. Your product could be in any style of genre but it must be self financed through sales or advertising. You must also produce your magazine for a specified audience segment within the 16-25 age group”
USP• Hybrid of Music and Fashion ( isn’t currently a magazine like
this on the market)
• Given away a supplement in Northern Echo , so it is local and different.
• no other premium magazines given free at this standard.
AIMS • Publication name : LN
• Target audience: 16-24
• Genre: hybrid of fashion and music
• Publication : magazine
• Financial: independent through advertising sales( selling advert slots within magazine pages)
Problems + how to fix them • Will need to consider the secondary audience of the Northern
Echo. • No taboo language (mild if needed) • No nudity • No offensive or inappropriate• Remember age range of readers
Use appropriate language with no taboo subjects.Content isn’t to mature and shocking
PCC• Accuracy – to refrain from breaking the code I will ensure that
the stories and pictures aren’t inaccurate. • Children- I have to ensure I have permission to photograph
them from parents/guardians.• Privacy- when working with people I have to get there
permission before asking them questions on their personal life and using there pictures.
• Discrimination- I have to be aware of race, colour, gender, sexual orientation and disability when writing. No personal comments about them.
• Intrusion- with delicate cases I have to enquire information with sympathy and discretion
