In what ways does your media product use, develop or challenge forms and conventions of real media products? My magazine front

cover has a similar colour scheme as ‘Q’ magazine.

Mast head is on the left hand side.

I’ve used plugs in my magazine to tell the audience to expect different things.

The colour scheme I’ve used is yellow, black, red and white.

One

My double page spread has the colours of red, black and white to keep in with my colour scheme. It has a main image of the artist and the mast head so the audience will know what the article is about.

How does your media product represent particular social groups?

Social groups range from teenage to young adult.

Neutral colours represent people of all genders.

Two

My model is young so it will appeal to a teenage audience more so than if the model was older.

The way my page numbers are set up in my magazine are similar to the way the page numbers are set up in ‘NME’.

I’ve also used pictures other then my main image, similar to the magazines I looked at in my research.

ThreeWhat kind of media institution might distribute your media product and why?

The media institution that might distribute my product is www.ukmagz.co.uk. They publish magazines

such as these.

They distribute a range of different magazines including music magazines.

They are the best distributors for me because they publish different genres of music magazines.

I chose this media institution over Bauer media because they publish famous music magazines and mine is new. Ukmagz publish different magazines that promote different genre’s of music within the magazine.

FourWho would be the audience for your media product?

My audience is teenagers and young adults.

They are interested in themes such as relationships.

They like fashion and the style of music that my magazine promotes.

I chose to use the colour red because it is eye-catching and will grab the audiences attention.

I used the colour yellow because it stands out and people will notice the plug and what it offers.

FiveHow did you attract/address your audience?

I used bold, bright colours, such as yellow and red. I also used black and white.

I promoted a trip and a free poster.

I used the colours I found were used on other magazines when I did my research.

Black, red and white. I also used yellow so that it stood out and there was something different to grab the audiences attention.

What have you learnt about technologies from the process of constructing this product?

I’ve learnt how to use the ‘Photoshop’ software to create a logo for my magazine and to edit the pictures I will be using for my front cover, contents page and double page spread. The software I used to create my double page spread was ‘Page plus’.

I’ve learnt how to plan and research for my magazine effectively.

I’ve learnt how to use the software to create my magazine and make it suitable for my target audience.

SevenLooking back at your preliminary task, what do you feel you have learnt in the progression from it to the full product?

I think I’ve learnt how to make sure my product attracts the right audience. How to edit my pictures properly and making sure my pictures were suitable for my magazine.

I’ve learnt how to set my magazine out properly to make sure it appeals to my audience such as setting out my text and using different eye-catching font colours.

I’ve learnt how to edit my pictures effectively so there is no edges round my pictures that ca be seen on my background.
