Media@idasa is a service unit within Idasa. We do four things:

• That includes your print media.

• We publish your books.

publications, through our own online book store and using agencies in South Africa, elsewhere in Africa, the US and the UK.

• Idasa books bring in revenue of more than R70,000 a year from book sales.

2. Dissemination of the Idasa message

• We disseminate all the rich and varied information generated by Idasa to the broader public, through press releases and liaison with contacts in our database of about 300 newspapers, magazines, TV stations and radio stations across the continent.

All your work is on our website

• We get an average of 70 000 visitors per month, this is average of 2000 hits per day

• We collect online donations on our website.

• Every day, somewhere in the world – and sometimes in the most unlikely places – there is some coverage of Idasa.

We believe an effective democracy requires – accountable and transparent governance;– free and open debate between citizens and

government;– open exchange of ideas and participation in

decision-making.

All of this is premised on citizens having the INFORMATION they need to– be active, – participative, – questioning, – play an effective role in decision-making. .– demand accountability and transparency from government.
