Message from us to you

Hello Year Six! We can’t wait to meet you in English, You can come along and discuss any book you wish.

From Dickens to Dahl…not forgetting J.K Rowling, We can’t wait for September to come a-calling.

We hope you all love to read and write, And are excited to join us, despiteThese strange times.

On the next few slides we have a competitionTo help you stay busy. Please complete this mission!

Take a photo and send your entries in, Or bring it in September to see what you can win.

See you all soon!

What you will be doing when you join us

Join us in September to enter Victorian London, during your English lessons, as we uncover Charles Dickens’ novel ‘A Christmas Carol’.

Along with studying the novella, we will be constructing our own descriptions of a winter scene and building upon your creative writing skills.

In order to prepare for this, you can read the novella at home*, research life in Victorian London and find out about Charles Dicken’s life too.

* Visit http://downloads.bbc.co.uk/schoolradio/pdfs/achristmascarol_notes.pdf for information about the

author, the story and to listen to it if you’d prefer.

About you

We would love to know:

• what you have already studied in English at primary school• what you loved about English and what you didn’t like as much• what you are looking forward to during your English lessons at AGS• and we would love you to enter our:
